My dog has disgraced herself this morning.

Off the lead and enjoying a run around, we were the only people in that area of the national trust park,
It was closed to cars and not many people brave (or stupid) enough to walk.

We stumbled upon a lovely little family of snowmen,
however the one that she could reach was a really small but brilliant feathers McGraw with a carrot for a beak. I was going to take a photo and realised she's pinched his beak and ate it!

She's never stolen anything before but she was so fast!

@Sn000w honestly my old boy was a nightmare he did have recall and was very good but very now and then if he chose to disgrace himself he put his heart into it 🤣. My little DDog i have now visits DF in his care home and is very popular, a lot of the residents make a beeline for her and love to tell me all about their own dogs, it's so lovely to see the smiles she puts on their faces. Current DDog has impeccable recall thankfully and will.stop in her tracks the minute she is told too (my nerves couldn't take another free spirit 😀)

My little ddog is similar to your current ddog. She's small, fluffy, and very cute and friendly, so everyone wants to make a fuss of her, which she loves. She's also very polite and well behaved, she rolls over on her back so small children can rub her tummy as she knows she's not allowed to jump up on people. I lift her up in my arms so that our elderly neighbours can pet her without having to stoop over. She also comes with me to visit elderly relatives and neighbours, and she cheers them up so much.

It is very lovely to see the smiles she brings to their faces and she's well known in the area now - I often get asked where she is if I'm seen out and about without her, everyone is always disappointed if I don't have her with me!

Hoppinggreen · 08/01/2025 15:34

My Mum was visiting with her ddog before we had one of our own.
He managed to escape while we were loading her car to go home and we followed him to next door but one, by the time we got there he had made it upstairs onto their bed.
I apologised profusely and offered to clean etc but they found it hilarious (they had the same breed years ago)

@Sn000w I really think you must be mistaken about the theft of the carrot.

How could that innocent little face steal anything, let along a carrot off a snowman.

I agree, she really does look too innocent and adorable to be a carrot thief🙂

So putting this the other way around, can my 6 year old son just rock up to your dog and take its ball out of its mouth? Snatch it, like a dog does with a carrot?

And I say, “Sorry, I can’t control him! Haha! Sorry to your dog. My son is just a bit out of control. Sorry, ball’s gone, your dog will just have to cope.”

Of course that’s not going to happen because your dog will probably bite my DS or at the very least nor give up the ball. Dogs have sharp teeth and a very strong bite as you fully know.

You hold an unfair position and you abuse it.

My dog would happily hand her ball over and sit waiting for it to be thrown for her.
You seem to think that we're all irresponsible twats who let our ddogs run amuck but that's not true, the only time ddog is of leash is in our garden or the fenced off dog park (specifically for dogs not kids or picnicking) where she plays or should I say runs amuck with all her asbo friends.
Now I know that my ddog has a biscotti habit thanks to a friends dd (2months older than ddog) feeding her the soggy end when she was teething, so I always keep her on a short leash and on the far side of me from a buggy (where possible) just incase the child has 1, and yes she did steal a couple before I realised what she was doing and actively prevented any further occurrence. The fact is no child was hurt, traumatised or even realised that the biscotti was gone until later and the mum thought it was hilarious when I explained and apologised, so why shouldn't other people have a chuckle at a sneaky biscotti thief too

Mine (when she was a puppy) ran into the middle of a family picnic and stole a sandwich)! It was only that she was very cute that meant she was forgiven!

Pissing on someone's snowman is disgusting. You are exactly why normal people think dog people are weird.

Actually some dog people think dog people are weird. We aren't all the same, please don't imagine that we are. Some of us have nicely behaved dogs with good manners.

It's weird to me that people let dogs in their homes, as they smell so so bad, and are filthy unhygienic beings.

It's extremely weird to me that you would post this on a dog thread. What do you get out of it?

My dog lives in the house, she is very clean and she smells a lot nicer than my cat does. People are far more filthy and unhygienic than dogs.

jillycat72 · 08/01/2025 19:21

Our Labrador has stolen a carrot nose in the past fortunately it was our own snowman ⛄️

when we were kids we had gone out for a meal as a family to the pub a few hundred meters away . We had left our beared collie out in the garden when an hour or so later we came out we could hear a dog woofing and what sounded like the chains of a prison gang. Our dog had somehow managed to pull over the whirly style washing line was tangled in it dragging it around the garden. He was very proud of his achievement 😂

My labratwat took a massive dump on the floor in the reception of the vets this afternoon. I was horrified! And it STANK the place out. I didn’t have a bag on me either so one of the other waiting patients owners had to give me poo bag and the poor receptionist had to wipe the residue up while I held the front door open to air the place out and made everyone freeze. It was only after I realised the receptionist was having her lunch 🤢

Mortified I tell you.

To be fair, the vets should be an acceptable place to have a dump. It is the animal version of hospital, after all.

I would look at it, he was so scared he shat himself.

Poor pup. I can guarantee the vets have seen it before.

Elle2018 · 08/01/2025 20:48

@Anewuser nope he wasn’t scared he loves the vets, he pulls to go in! He just decided inside was a better choice than all the grass we walked past on the way 😂

Elle2018 · 08/01/2025 20:50

@WeylandYutani outside on the grass before we went in would’ve been more acceptable 🤣

Again then: it is NOT joy to those of us who don't appreciate this bad behaviour. That's the point of my commenting on this very thread. You can see why so many of us are disliking dogs these days.
