This is not really an AIBU but felt like a good place to post.

Staying at my in laws at the moment with the kids. Mother in law and DH went out and I’m working from home. Father in law is also at home.

I’m upstairs and he is in study downstairs. Suddenly I hear a woman’s voice - it sounds like she is in distress or sort of semi screaming in pain. Well the first few seconds I thought that’s what I was hearing as thought he must be watching some crime / drama or something… but he was clearly watching porn.

I think he is rather deaf, it was rather loud. He did turn it down a bit but the change of volume was like someone who is screaming is now just shouting.

I don’t judge anyone for watching porn but I actually had a physical reaction to that and feel somewhat sick.

He, I assume, clearly didn’t think I can hear it. Or did he forget I was here?

I think a lot of the posters here are creating stories in their heads that he has done this on purpose when it's clear he's an old bloke with hearing problems that didn't realise anyone was around.

Having a wank is hardly a crime.

OP, unless there's some back story of inappropriate behaviour which you haven't shared, surely the explanation is probably the most simple and obvious - he thought he was home alone.

I know the concept is bit yuck, It's not what we want to think of our elders doing, but your reaction is a bit overblown.

Given the somewhat lighthearted title of your post ("Naughty Boy") I'm surprised you're shaking and sweating over this. No, it's not great to think of your FIL or any male relative watching porn but the majority of men do. Did you think he'd be so consumed with lust that he'd want to ravish you? I'm no fan of porn but I do object to the "shock horror" ageism on here. Would posters be so outraged if the man in question was 30? Do women really beleive that men stop wanting to ogle or fantasise about fannies, bums and tits at a certain age? Do you honestly think that every man over 70 turns into a sweet, kindly old soul whose only interest is tending his roses and playing bowls. I mean, c'mon. I can assure you that whether they're 13 or 103 men think about sex - a lot!

Honestly though, You are a guest in HIS house. Stop clutching your pearls and act like an adult. Either talk to him in private that he needs to use headphones, or ignore it. There was no minors in the house, therefore there is absolutely no issue whatsoever. If it bothers you that much you could always take your family home.

If he desperately feels the need to view porn during the day he should do it in private which means having headphones on/on quiet. I'd be creeped out that he had it on loud because you were there and that he's still showcasing his virility to you ergh. Men are gross

My step dad is losing his hearing - asking for things to be turned up and up and up in volume with no real idea that he is doing it. He will often try to talk to me while something is blasting from the tv and I have to explain I have to turn it down because it is so loud I cant hear him. He is always surprised.
