What on earth is going on with him. Calling for Nagel Farage to resign. Now wanting the PM to resign amd said we have a tyrannical government. It's all a bit odd.

I don't think many people have a particular issue with him raising CSA scandals etc.
Its the hate, the failure to take down tweets calling for Starmer and Phillips murder, Musk wanting our ministers in jail, for the UK to liberated by the Americans.... the King to dissolve Parliament...

We've had 2 MPs murdered by extremists, yesterday a man jailed for threatening Jess Phillips.

He is sowing hatred and may well only end one way.

Rotherham etc has been known about and reported on extensively, we all knew and we all didn't care enough but at least Starmer is doing something about it & before you say "its only because of Musk" thats not true, Cooper said she would implement the recommendations whilst in opposition, Labour called for another reports finds to be enacted TEN YEARS ago...... the Cons ignored it....

Edited

Your absolutely spot on.
I like to think (probably naively) twe did care, the (then) government just dismissed it and moved on - like they did with a lot of women’s issues.
they certainly talked a good talk their actions did not follow suit.

LoopyLoo1991 · 07/01/2025 17:55

My BF who has Aspergers, says Musk gives others with Aspergers a bad name & should stick to launching rockets & keep his mouth firmly shut. Musk's ASD and Billions in wealth are probably a very bad combination.
One of BF's school friends who I've met exactly twice as he's so odeus and Irritating , is very similar to Musk at spouting crap and lording it over shop staff and restaurant workers etc. There's a reason BF and most of the rest of his old schoolmstes do not talk to the idiot any more.
Musk seems to cut from very similar cloth.

Three Girls was shown in 2017. Not a peep from anyone.

Band of Gold had Samantha Morton as a child being prostituted by her Pakistani origin british born pimp in 1995.

I think people who genuinely care about child sexual exploitation also care about the state of our children's home system but I often find they don't.

The Police etc come from society, all too often children in care are blamed for their predicament, these are the hooligan teenagers roaming the streets in gangs, vile thugs, the homeless.. we all walk and look the other way.

I was reading about CSA in the 80s in Childrens homes, the Independent and Private Eye covered these stories.

Funding for all childrens services has been slashed, as has police numbers, we voted for this several times, as tax cuts were deemed too important.

But the issue in point is that Oldham council back in the summer of 2024 voted in favour of a new independent enquiry and that they would ask the government to undertake it (presumably because they considered that there were gaps in the findings of the Greater Manchester Burnham report). It is this request for this further enquiry that the government rejected, iyes there has been previous enquiries but Oldham council saw that a new one was required, The question therefore becomes why did Labour refuse to undertake this enquiry deemed necessary by Oldham Council?

Little seems to be being said in the reports regarding any cultural links to the gangs and if any wider lessons need to be learned regarding this and how if relevant these cultural factors are to be eradicated - everything appears to centre on social services rather than the perpetrators

I’d hazard a guess that the reason they don’t see another enquiry necessary is due to the planned implementation of the previous recommendations.
That’s just my speculation. More enquiries don’t solve the issues.

men of all cultures seem to enjoy grooming vulnerable girls.

verdantverdure · 07/01/2025 18:17

I don't disagree with you in any of that @Alexandra2001 except that I understand it the cost of private providers of children's homes is vastly higher than it has ever been and that has swallowed up all the money that could be spent on other children's services, and is a major factor in local councils facing bankruptcy.

These private providers can charge whatever they like and local government have to pay it.

£468,000 a year for a single child is not unusual.

One council is paying over £1million a year for one single child.

One council is paying over £3million a year for a single child.

Yes, he's completely insane. Too much money, too much power, no-one around him who will tell the truth. I don't understand why anyone thinks he's worth listening to.

I suspect he's on some kind of drugs binge at the moment.

Musk's has Aspergers and those that have it should know Asperger's & drugs do not mix.
BF has Aspergers and avoids all drugs apart from actually prescribed medications. He's seen the affected weed had on his ASD friend 30+ years ago - permanent psychosis...

Its amazing how people are so quick to defend Musk's right to free speech as if he is some poor oppressed hero of the masses, rather than a billionaire with his own social media network who is about to become the second most powerful man on the planet!

Yes i was going to mention that, only so much can be said though.... i believe Starmer has limited the fees private operators can charge..... went un noticed.

Little changes add up to make larger reforms.

Do the reports state that? Or were the gangs predominantly one or two cultures. What are the reports suggestions (which are being implemented) on how to address the underlying reasons the perpetrators thought it was acceptable to treat the victims as they did.

Having just heard the governments response they thought they knew best based on a vaguely similar local enquiry in a different part of the country even though Oldham council specifically requested otherwise. They clearly felt the previous enquiries conducted locally by the Labour mayor of Manchester were missing something

Oldham council clearly think something has been missed by the existing enquiries. The recommendations seem to focus on social services rather than the perpetrators. There’s no reason some recommendations can’t be implemented whilst conducting a wider enquiry

They are being encouraged to undertake a local inquiry. Far more likely to identify local issues.

“In July the council voted to ask the government to conduct an inquiry into non-recent child sexual exploitation in Oldham, or to conduct our own independent inquiry should the government turn down that request.

“Since October, when the government confirmed we should carry out a local inquiry, we have been working on setting up that independent inquiry.

"That work has included liaising with Oldham survivors and Telford Council which conducted a similar inquiry.
