And German politics and just focus on the President he’s already paid for and turning X into a toxic wasteland.

Of the 650 seats in Parliament, Labour won 411 at the GE. So they do have a large Parliamentary Majority. As of 31st Oct they have a Parliamentary Majority of 402 due to suspensions, Rosie Duffield and the bloke that was caught fighting.

Their majority is how many more MPs they have than the other MPs combined, not how many MPs they have in total. Their current 'working majority' (which takes into account non-voting MPs) is 163.

Boris Johnson was considered to have a large majority at 80.

Correct, they have 402 of the 650 seats.

We just don’t need the input of fuckwits from overseas. We have reached our quota. I thought the likes of Reform would approve of Keeping Our Fuckwits British. We had Suella Braverman the other day saying

‘Italy have reinforced their borders.
‘They’ve built a wall – I went to see that wall, they built a wall on the land border between Italy and Turkey.’

She has a right as an elected MP to involve herself British politics. God help us. Elon Musk has no right and a disproportionate influence.

They do not have a massive majority.

they have a parliamentary majority. And a very very shallow one at that.

You live in a parliamentary democracy. Since 1714 , albeit there was no universal franchise then.

BIossomtoes · 03/01/2025 22:50

We can't afford 4 more years of this government as a country.

We managed to survive 14 years of far worse so I’m sure we’ll manage.

Time to celebrate, Farage fans, you've just acquired another ex Tory mp who has found the current party under Badenoch to be 'too left wing' for his dubious tastes. There are times, increasingly, when there really aren't enough words. Heaven help us all.

The more the Government tries to shut Mr Robinson up by banging him up, the more his followers will rally around him, they don't seem to understand the anger particularly in the working class

We. He pleaded guilty

user1471516498 · 03/01/2025 23:30

How is any government supposed to achieve anything if the new idea is that we throw them out as soon as they do anything unpopular? No other government has been expected to call an election as soon as they did something unpopular, or that the US disagrees with. The right was furious when Obama weighed in on Brexit. You would almost think that Musk is trying to destabilise things here.

destroying the woke mind virus.

he’s very very keen on it and given he’s the richest man on earth and quite good at changing the world I’d say he has a more than 50% chance of doing it.

he did get trump elected after all. Farage is child’s play.

He's a U.S. citizen that would have helped, don't you think!

I got slightly confused here - would be better written as they've acquired a Tory ex-MP which is far less interesting.

@MrsRagnarLothbrok epstien is dead.
His main accomplice is in prison.

Prince Andrew is still evading justice but settled with his accuser.

P Diddy trial starts in may so he shouldn't comment yet

Edited

So you think Prince Andrew was the only one who abused those girls and visited Epsteins island? It looks like a very good way of diverting attention from the many high profile Americans who were allegedly involved, but that haven’t even been investigated, why is that? why isn’t he trying to do something for those victims? he is meddling in British Politics, that is not acceptable

What? Shutting down free speech?

Elon is needed more than ever because of people like you who only want one particular narrative discussed.

Twitter was never a place just for "left wing voices". But it was regulated so that the far right didn't have a platform. Not so now.

EM is trying to normalise extremism. The AfD for example. He's trying to bring down the Labour government and what put Farage in place? Reform's policies are written on the back of a fag packet using a pencil Farage borrowed from the bookies. EM is going to fund this racist to create another far right Western power (like the US). He doesn't care about free speech, unless it's his own. He's very happy to perpetrate lies. He doesn't care about the people in our population.

I can remember after Brexit sitting next to someone bemoaning leaving the EU. She was saying to a lady, I presumed to be her Mum, how she couldn’t believe how stupid some people were. Her mum was agreeing saying what would happen now if she broke her leg whilst on holiday in Spain. But her daughter had a solution. Never mind, they could holiday in Brittany because that was part of Britain. Still makes me laugh now.

I think the problem is that politics has been moving further away from the centre on both sides for some time.Although we talk about left and right, I’m not really sure that’s truly the best description anymore.i think the best description is Globalisation v individualisation/nationalism.

Those in favour of globalisation have sought to establish that there are no differences between groups, between the sexes, between cultures, between nationalities. Individual strengths should not be rewarded and everyone should pay for individual weaknesses. Those who follow this ideology have sought to silence those who point out the inherent flaws in this system. The important thing is everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet.Social media especially, has sought to establish a “group think”. This ideology’s adherents consider calling people “weird”, saying “you’re on your own” is the worst punishment. Rather ironically, many of it’s adherents often think of themselves as individuals (they, deep down can see the fundamental flaws of this ideology and often seek superficial “self expression” through the way they look (although ironically often just looking the same as everyone else in that position).

Then there are the nationalists/individualists who recognise that there are fundamental differences between different groups of people and between individuals. They buck against an ideology that seeks to say we are all the same. For them, clearly identifiable groups exist, each with different attributes and weaknesses There are the strong and weak, the winners and the losers. We must take individual responsibility for own actions. The irony in this group is that they generalise about groups and recognise the human need to be together and often form groups/tribes of similar people.

Neither group is wholly right or wrong. The natural place is somewhere in the middle. Yet social media is expert into forcing people to choose a side, people become charactures of these ideologies, American politics has long existed at these prepackaged poles. Criticise the transgender ideology on a predominantly American group and it’s not long before someone will come along a criticise your Christian beliefs and anti abortion views. Confusion then ensues when you point out you’re pro- choice and not Christian.

People are being increasingly manipulated into binary thought, extremism on both sides is becoming normal. Surrounded by the echo chamber of social media people don’t recognise their own views as extremist, but see people who don’t think the same way as them and their echo chamber as extremists. This is because social media has created the false impression that their views are the norm.

We are now, more than ever, stuck in our caves watching shadows on the wall 2,500 years on from Plato we seem to be going backwards not forwards.

Isn't this the same man who accused a cave rescue worker as being a peadophile, simply because it was suggested that his prototype stretcher thing wouldn't work?

Nice guy 🙄

User37482 · 04/01/2025 07:14

I actually think this is a reaction against progressivism, no trans women aren’t women, yes pakistani men are massively overrepresented in certain types of CSE, no DEI doesn’t improve outcomes etc etc. I think a lot of things worked on people not being able to say shit. I mean people being locked up for saying stupid shit is an example of this. I totally would have supported a hefty fine but jail was excessive. It’s more about managing messaging than it is tackling actual problems. The numbers of men found with CSE images who are not jailed is appalling.

I do think Musk is in a position where he can amplify disinformation. But it’s true, we did have a grooming scandal, we still have one, The grooming taskforce found 550 men in it’s first year of operation. Not allowing people to say stuff about it doesn’t actually stop children being raped.

I don’t really care what elon musk says or doesn’t say, I’m quite fond of free speech. I do care that survivors of grooming have been talking about the abuse ongoing and we haven’t stopped it.

Focusing on the fact that children have been and continue to be abused is more important to me than who says what on twitter. Again, the focus has been on messaging “ooh a man I don’t like said something so I’m going to ignore the something and focus on how much I don’t like that man”.

And he made himself look like a dick. But he amplified the court report of what Muhammed Karrar did to that poor girl. Thats where the outrage started. He didn’t just wake up and start trawling through old newspapers. The transcript had only just become available. The idea that a right winger can’t be appalled by that is for the birds. It was so foul I challenge you to find anyone who thought it was fine.
