It genuinely worries me when I see so many stupid people walking amongst us. And that these people have the right to vote.

There really needs to be an IQ test before people can vote.

Jein · 03/01/2025 09:44

I blame the mainstream parties and authorities who let these men get away with it for so long and who didn't have the courage to discuss difficult subjects. In at least three cities most of the convicted perpetrators were of specifically Pakistani heritage and the victims were mostly white. It's perfectly legitimate to want to know why this was, but obviously a difficult topic to confront.

Mainstream politicians minimising and whatabouting unfortunately leaves the field open for populists and powerful people with their own agenda. That's what has happened here IMO.

Firstly, I am a woman.
Second, this site doesn't require you to be female.

Well, it doesn’t, but I can tell you now majority of Tommy Robinson fanboy and not women their football hooligans far right twats

Thank goodness we have Elon in charge of Twitter and shining a light on this, as the mainstream media have spent many years covering it up. Whatever you think about Elon, without him taking on Twitter none of this would be coming to light now. The fact Labour are refusing an enquiry is indefensible, hopefully this will be reversed.

Sanity. Thank you.

candlerhyme · 03/01/2025 09:45

@Rhaidimiddim I completely agree.

Honestly he can say what he likes, I fucking loathe the Taliban and the Iranian Mullahs, I feel perfectly free to say what I like.

The government doesn’t have to do anything it doesn’t want to do. British people aren’t obliged to listen to anyone. I don’t see what the fuss is about tbh. Elon Musk said a thing is not foreign interference.

Don’t be so ridiculous - Musk is not just anyone. He’s one of the most powerful men in the world and in two weeks will become the puppet master to the most powerful politician in the world. It absolutely fucking matters what he’s doing and his reason for doing it. 🤬

amoreoamicizia · 03/01/2025 09:46

I don't welcome influence from a foreign billionaire in our politics, but let's face facts: if there were not a weakness there, he wouldn't be able to exploit it. The fault lies within our own administrative bodies.

@Chainzreaction - There HAS been an enquiry!! Published in 2022, it took 7 years: www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/oct/20/child-sexual-abuse-inquiry-final-report-20-actions-for-change

You should really do a little research on things before you post about them.

THERE HAS BEEN AN INQUIRY

tinydynamine · 03/01/2025 08:54

It's the job of the opposition parties to hold the government to account NOT eccentric foreign tycoons.

This. For what it's worth, I do think Starmer needs to act on grooming gangs, but it's not Elon Musk's place to put pressure on him or on any other elected official.
Just because Musk is rich, it doesn't mean he gets to influence government policy, especially in a country he isnt even a citizen of! He can get to fuck. No one voted for him.

I think you’ll find there were more white grooming gangs than Asian. But obviously that doesn’t make a good headline or get support from people like Elon Musk.

Anyone who thinks Elon Musk actually cares needs to have a rethink. This isn’t about the girls, this is about Elon Musk shit stirring.

“I think you’ll find there more white grooming gangs than Asian”. Why do you say that? Can you provide a link to anything to support this? I am really not interested in ethnicity but I am interested in the truth.

Penguinmouse · 03/01/2025 09:48

Chainzreaction · 03/01/2025 08:58

I don't really care, the spotlight is firmly on the government right now. Elon will double his efforts in a fortnight when Trump gets in. The more pressure on govt the better.

Do you realise that there was an enquiry into grooming gangs called the Jay report and the previous government implemented none of the recommendations? Elon Musk is a bad faith actor, doesn’t care about the safety of these girls and just wants to throw his weight around. Personally I don’t want a weirdo billionaire that allows unsolicited porn and trolls on his site to be meddling in our politics.

ExtraOnions · 03/01/2025 09:48

There was a gang near me, of men, who were investigated and prosecuted for grooming & raping an underage girl. She was white and they, like the vast majority of sex offenders in this country, were also white.

Why are we not pressing for an enquiry in the endemic levels of male sexual violence against women and girls, regardless of the colour of the perpetrators ?

Is Musk etc only angry when it’s brown men doing the raping ?

The ones shouting for an enquiry are also the most Vocal about Shamina Begum not being allowed back in the country … 15 year old White Girl groomed & raped = Victim, 15 year old Brown Girl groomed & raped = “knew exactly what she was doing”

Of course the whole thing is thinly veiled Racism.

NonPlayerCharacter · 03/01/2025 09:48

GreenTeaLikesMe · 03/01/2025 09:09

OK, but what happens when Musk decides in six months' time to start pressuring the UK government about something that you don't happen to agree with? There is the risk of a precedent being set here.

The grooming gangs stuff is appalling and I'm furious about it and about Labour cancelling the inquiry. But we should be conducting an inquiry and punishing the people concerned off our own bat and because it's the right thing to do, not because an unelected millionnaire who has never been a British citizen is trying to force us to.

We should, but we're not. So it's better that we take the benefits of a person who did the right thing for the wrong reasons than ignore this atrocity because we don't like the person who pointed it out.

An understandable sentiment, but not workable. What really needs to happen, but probably won't because it's another thing that's far too difficult for modern politicians to contemplate tackling is a root and branch reform of our education system. We are utterly failing in teaching children how to think critically and acquire a good wide-ranging general knowledge that would help them to make sense of the world around them.

@DoingTheBestICan

"You believe people who hold a different opinion to yourself should be shot?

Unfortunately I personally see the growth of intolerance and extremism as now coming more from the left than I do from the right. Let's not forget:

www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/credz9gl92yo.amp

Historically Stalin and Mao killed far more people than any other dictator in history.

TheGander · 03/01/2025 09:49

I think the whole thing was handled disgracefully- police’s terror of being called racist informing their decisions, labour not wanting to lose reliable south Asian vote and the girls thrown to the wolves. However the power one very rich, unelected, unaccountable and quite bizarre man is wielding does worry me.

tinydynamine · 03/01/2025 08:54

Absolutely it is, but for some reason when in opposition they shoot their mouths off and look all brave and righteous, and when they get into government all that bravado disappears like a puff of smoke and we start getting mealy mouthed statements that include the words 'not in the public interest', 'no money', 'being in government is a hard job' etc etc, ad nauseum.

AdventFridgeOfShame · 03/01/2025 09:49

Does Elon have some sort of plan on how to stop poor girls being groomed, tortured and raped?

Has Elon read the 2022 report?

Has he solved the US version of the issue?

Has he ensured that all the men who abused Epstein's girls were prosecuted?

Does he think girls should only be abused by rich, white men?

Don't call the industrial-scale rape and torture of children a dog whistle. Just fucking don't.

Its not the act, its how it is being used.

SerendipityJane · 03/01/2025 09:50

The UK has told the world it doesn't like foreigners interfering in it's politics. Have we forgotten that was the reason we left the EU ? To retain our sovereignty. If we allow Musk any influence then we are pissing away the glorious opportunity we gave ourselves with Brexit and freeing ourselves from the tyranny of the unelected.

If Farage is supporting Musk then he must be starting to loses his marbles as he was so persuasive in rejecting any foreign influence in the UK.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 03/01/2025 09:50

I think there probably should be an enquiry but I'm pretty sure that there won't be one now that Musk has interfered in the matter. What government is ever going to be seen to bow to pressure from a foreign billionaire who is clearly just political point scoring?
