@MojoMoon that's astonishing that the gov isn't held to account to act.

It's not gormless however to not know that.

JHound · 03/01/2025 12:20

SkiingonKaraSea · 03/01/2025 12:15

So no then.

Why don’t you read it for yourself?

HumanBurrito · 03/01/2025 12:20

@Chainzreaction does it seem realistic to you that one in thirteen girls in England is currently being systematically raped by migrant gangs, as per Musk's tweet? Or might he possibly be embellishing the (sordid enough) facts for his own ends?

SkiingonKaraSea · 03/01/2025 12:20

CandlesClementines · 03/01/2025 12:18

BTW the conservatives also rejected a call for natinal probe, just for the posters who care more about politics than this actual issue

And they were voted out. It is now Labour’s responsibility

Funny how people didn't have a problem with Murdoch picking and choosing Prime Ministers and even Labour and Tony Blair begging for his approval.

Because Musk is backing Reform now they have a problem

Thats because Reform is a fascist party.

Elon Musk is giving the people of the UK a voice. The fact that he has to in this scenario is disgusting. The inquiry should have already taken place ffs.

What inquiry?

Alexandra2001 · 03/01/2025 12:20

Chainzreaction · 03/01/2025 12:13

Well labour were in opposition at the time, why didn't they demand the findings were implemented. They were in it together labour & tories. They should have done their job as opposition.

Err they did.... they ve been calling for tougher safeguards and better Police action since 2014.

You obviously don't follow UK politics.

Both are a disgrace. They were also mostly Labour councils involved.

Edited

No. They were mostly in areas with Labour CITY councils (because they tended to be in deprived urban areas, which often vote for Labour City Councillors); but neither child protection nor policing is a city council function.

Child protection is usually a County Council responsibility (if you can use 'County Council' and 'responsibility' in the same sentence), And many areas with the gangs (e.g, where I live) had Tory County Councils though Labour City Councils.

The police are certainly not run by City Councils.

It's not party politics anyway; it's incompetence and irresponsibility and not giving a flying fuck about poor girls and those in the care (or don't-care) system. Here, many abusers were exposed after a victim was adopted by a middle class couple who were prepared to make a fuss, and were taken seriously, unlike poor kids.

I also don't like that politicians, such as George Galloway are being elected depending on how they view what's happening in other countries that wouldn't piss on the UK if it was on fire. Especially those countries that see women as chattel.
I'm not sure if Musk is more worrying than The Saudis buying every aspect of our culture and a lot of property, but posters won't agree. World events, all following a pattern, involving some people are mere coincidence.

pointythings · 03/01/2025 12:21

Personally I would rather see resources used to implement the recommendations of the enquiries that have already taken place than have more enquiries.

It's pathetic of OP to hold Labour responsible for not implementing the recommendations while in opposition. Right wing loyalists will never hold the Tories accountable for their record in government.

There are a lot of bad faith posts on this thread.

Something else interesting

Aibu to be very happy Elon Musk is putting so much pressure on Stamer over the grooming gang tragedies?

That was the excuse the police used to fail to protect thousands of girls too.

Lindos1 · 03/01/2025 12:23

Thanks for this OP.
The fact that's it's taken someone from overseas to shine a light on this evil shows what an utter disaster of a country we are (Labour, Tories, local councils, police, judiciary etc).
For shame, Britain.

JHound · 03/01/2025 12:23

Chainzreaction · 03/01/2025 12:04

Why shouldn't they be allowed this platform! Everyone & anyone should be able to hold government to account , otherwise we would have a dictatorship rather than a democracy .

Many of us are calling govt out here , it just happens that Musk & JK Rowling platform is infinitely bigger so they are able to raise awareness much more easily!

Musk and JK Rowling are not the same.

Rowling, not matter what criticism she may face, cares passionately about women and girls.

Her comments on this hold not agenda and I believe she will be equally as disparaging of Tories and Labour on this issue.

Are you also calling out the billionaire Pritzker family or do you let them off the hook because they work behind the scenes?

I don’t know much about American politics, but I think any system where the wealthy get political power is fucked.

frenchnoodle · 03/01/2025 12:24

Considering the government ignoring the victims I think anyone with the power to shine a light on this actually doing so is should a good thing.

Gunnersforthecup · 03/01/2025 12:25

Chainzreaction · 03/01/2025 09:20

Wait for the bigoted & racist name calling to start!!
Elon has every right to step in.

Musk is entitled to his opinion, in the same way that you or I have an opinion.

With the caveat that those of us who are citizens/ voters in the UK should have some say in how things are done here.

So no, he doesn't have "every right to step in".

namechangeGOT · 03/01/2025 12:25

Loose affiliations of dodgy losers who hang around teens and try to have sex with them.

@Haroldwilson

Is that really what you think was happening in my home town of Rotherham?!

Are you forgetting about the mass-scale trafficking, selling, torture and mass rape of over 20000 young girls. You think they were just 'trying to have sex with them'?! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

DuncinToffee · 03/01/2025 12:25

mortal2024 · 03/01/2025 11:31

It's wonderful, absolutely fantastic that the rape gangs are finally being given the attention they deserve and anybody who is upset at anyone, no matter who, helping this to happen is utterly vile and a red flag walking.

This tweet was a real eye opener to me

"In the UK, serious crimes such as rape require the Crown Prosecution Service's approval for the police to charge suspects. Who was the head of the CPS when rape gangs were allowed to exploit young girls without facing justice? Keir Starmer, 2008 -2013"

https://x.com/elonmusk/status/1874664089894695221

ANYONE with any influence, power or money must hold their feet to the fire until every single member of every rape gang and every person who helped cover up the rape gangs is in prison.

Did you also read Dominic Grieve's reply?
