Oh what’s that? More patronising talk from the hard left - trying to shut people down again. I probably have more academic qualifications than your whole street put together. As someone said before. You personally attack people and are a prime example of the problematic left seen on here.

What does “Hard Left” mean to you?
What is your definition of a personal attack and can you point to where these have been made?
Do you not see the irony in complaining about “personal attack al while labelling anybody who writes something you disapprove of “hard left”?

How did the police react in the very first instance ? How did the media report it?

What’s that got to do with the fact there’s been openness, including a wide ranging inquiry, since?
Everyone accepts it was handled badly in the first instance (if you mean Oldham/Rotherham rather than wider examples of CSA). That doesn’t mean there’s a current cover up.

If only the Tories were held to account in 14 years like Labour are. They got away with murder and Labour (who are not up to much) are dealing with the fallout of the resulting societal collapse.

So you are saying Labour failed to hold them to account?

JHound · 03/01/2025 11:54

Ouch!

This. Why are they called grooming gangs and not child rape and torture gangs. I'll admit I'm not in the UK but from what I can read that is what they were right?. Why the minimisation?

Grooming is what one does to horses and dogs.

It is NOT rape and torture.
These poor girls were selected because they were white and vulnerable.

A 16yr old who worked in her family convenience shop said to me once ''The trouble with English girls, they are not beaten enough.

I got into this conversation as that shop used to sell alcohol to underage girls, and I asked the owners why. {The man in shop was very aggressive, but I said 'imagine if it was your child?' {I don't have a daughter} but it seemed so wrong to be selling vodka and those 'alco~pops' to young teens

I used to chat to the daughter of the shop owner as she longed to have a career and go to University - but she was set to be married to someone in Pakistan, and further education wasn't an option.

She did disappear.

Are we all suitably assured it's not a convenient dog whistle to drum up support for the political party he's donating huge amounts of money towards?

Heaven forbid!

HonoraBridge · 03/01/2025 11:56

BananaNirvana · 03/01/2025 08:58

But Musk doesn’t give a fuck. We need someone who actually wants justice to pick this up not someone using these girls for his political ends.

And how do you know that?

Chainzreaction · 03/01/2025 11:56

CandlesClementines · 03/01/2025 11:49

I don't know who said it but on twitter it was said these girls have been abandoned in the name of cultural apeasment.

I completely agree with this. That in itself is a national travesty. Why are these girls (according to the House of Lords 250,00 affected ) less important than keeping a certain group of society happy? Why?

OP posts:
JHound · 03/01/2025 11:56

Out of interest - those calling for a new enquiry: have you read in detailed the output of the national enquiry that was concluded in 2022?

This thread is batshit. A handful of sane comments saying there has been an enquiry then frothing-at-the-mouth bat-shit posts about how great Elon is, thorn in the side, horrible details about what these gangs did, must be stopped.

It's not like any other thread I've seen here. Makes me want to never come here again.

Government inquiries are useless if the politicians ignore the recommendations. Look at Leveson.

There was an inquiry into Hillsborough shortly after but it didn't stop the families fighting for decades for a further inquiry to get justice.

cardibach · 03/01/2025 11:57

BrickRedLipstick · 03/01/2025 11:17

Critical thinking clearly only matters to you when you agree with the conclusions. What worries me more is ignorance of the facts. It is a matter of fact, on public record there was torture and yet people are trying to suggest this didn’t happen. It is a matter of fact again on public record there were large-scale cover ups. I suggest some people should Google Maggie Oliver. That would be a good start.

It’s also a matter of fact, on public record, that there has been ann investigation and report.

LifefallingapartII · 03/01/2025 11:57

It’s great it’s being discussed here. But where is the MSM coverage? Why isn’t everyone talking about the wider topic, not just covering what EM has to say on X?

SkiingonKaraSea · 03/01/2025 11:54

Both are a disgrace. They were also mostly Labour councils involved.

Chainzreaction · 03/01/2025 11:49

They always try the same tactics, so predictable... Far Right.. racist.. bigots.. (insert plight) phobic .. anything to try & deflect from the truth.

Whats the truth in your opinion?

Surely the Police have all the powers they need, the laws on "grooming" its actually rape and sexual assault, are very strong, penalties high, many court trials and convictions in this area of enforcement.

Do you deny the "truth" that there has been an extensive report, findings published 2 years ago and ignored by the previous Govt, on top of reports on Telford and Rotherham.

Do you think a new inquiry, lasting years, will solve anything?

What is hysterical about wanting a toxic foreign billionaire with an agenda to stay out of UK politics?

Why use “hysterical” to describe that? Because they are all women?

As you know the terminology used by the poster is hysterical, the fact that she only opened the thread out of rage that this thread exists is hysterical and
reporting this thread for existing is hysterical. These posters were unable or unwilling to exercise self control and iinstead hysterically opted to try to silence others.

I do hope that now that you have been clearly answered several times you won't also get hysterical.

There is MSM coverage.

Both on the 2022 enquiry and the current discussion. A brief Google showed me that.

People want to be hand held and spoon fed information and without that are claiming MSM is not covering it.

Chainzreaction · 03/01/2025 11:59

SkiingonKaraSea · 03/01/2025 11:54

Exactly!! Is was Labours job as opposition to ensure the enquiry was satisfactory with all the findings implemented. Now it's their job to reopen the equity, implement every recommendation & prevent this from escalating further.
Right now England is being humiliated on a global stage .. and rightly so!

Because MSM are part of the establishment. It's all a big club.

What terminology is hysterical? Specifically?

Can you highlight the “hysterical parts”?

How is giving a view on Musk and wanting him to stay out of UK politics “hysterical” and “shutting down debate?”

Which part is hysterical in tone:

And German politics and just focus on the President he’s already paid for and turning X into a toxic wasteland.

Haven't they already been investigated and prosecutions followed. They are asking the local authority to look at their procedures and do an Enquiry. They aren't ignoring it. That's just what the right wing press are saying

Why do you want to reopen an enquiry which would mean slowing down implementation of actions?

You're now becoming a bit of a bore, rather like Elon Musk.

Good grief. I don’t know where to start with this.

CorbyTrouserPress · 03/01/2025 12:01

This is the most depressing thread I’ve ever read on here and sadly not because of the topic.

If he wants to make a difference he could start by cleaning up X.

I have to say that’s a very good point. Twitter is really bad for porn and misogynistic content. Sure it exists all over the internet but in most places you have to look for it. On there it’s delivered to you every 2 minutes.

Needmoresleep · 03/01/2025 12:01

He doesn’t “say things as he sees them” because he’s on the spectrum 🙄. Dear god. The man is a greedy megalomaniac who acts in his own self interest. That’s all he’s interested in - furthering his power and wealth.

Doesn't mean he is wrong on this.

Musk or no Musk, why are we not doing more.

So many people are affected. The girls themselves. Young men who grow up to assume such behaviour is acceptable, so end up on the outskirts of society and eventually in prison. Girls and women in their own communities who may well be treated with an equivalent lack of respect, but with even less agency than the rape victims. Rapists rarely make good husbands.

What is wrong with our politicians? And indeed with some of the opinions expressed here. Why would you minimise something so awful just because someone who you don't like uses their platform to say something that needs saying?
