It is a smear campaign. Musk is weaponising this issue for his own political agenda. He probably doesn't give a *!@& about the girls. It's disgusting.

Edited

Well as a mother of three young girls I am angry & sickened that this has taken place. These victims were children. I am very glad Musk has put the spotlight on England, girls & women must be kept safe in this country.

We already have rules saying donations to British political parties can come only from British citizens or companies. Msk has companies registered in Britain.

We do. Many of us are worried Musk is trying to undermine this and get it changed.

It's the job of the opposition parties to hold the government to account NOT eccentric foreign tycoons.

Why does that matter? As long as SOMEONE does it, surely that is the main thing - he has a voice and is using it!

CamelByCamel · 03/01/2025 10:56

BrickRedLipstick · 03/01/2025 10:54

Honestly, speaking as someone who was a white girl in a working-class town who saw my friend be groomed by a man who worked in a takeaway and who knows a social worker who talked about ‘lifestyle choices’ nobody has ever given a fuck about these girls. Not Labour, not Tories and not Musk.

Sadly I think you're right.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14245611/Elon-Musk-Labour-Keir-Starmer-grooming-inquiry.html

Labour seem to be very annoyed. Surely this is a very good thing ?

Apartheid Clyde is not putting pressure on Starmer because he gives a f..k about the grooming gangs. If he was he would have spoke up when the previous government declined the call for a national enquiry.

He is trash and I cannot wait for him to disappear from the public eye.

labamba007 · 03/01/2025 09:01

I don't understand why people have a problem with the fact that Musk is bringing this up and more importantly that's what they are focused on. I don't really care about his motives the fact is these young girls were let down by the people meant to protect them. They need justice and we need to prevent this from happening again (because it's still happening).

There are also people still in prominent positions in the police, councils and government that knew or actively covered up what happened. They need to be fired.

You don't care about his motives? Well you should. And remember he has just helped a sex offender into the White House.

Saschka · 03/01/2025 10:57

If Labour actually wanted to sweep this under the carpet, all they need to do is copy the Tories playbook and set up another enquiry that won’t report for another decade, which can then be completely ignored as well.

I’d rather they implemented some of the recommendations of the previous enquiries myself.

mrschocolatte · 03/01/2025 10:52

This is awkward. I wasn’t agreeing with that poster. I think you and I are on the opposite sides of the fence. Sorry to disappoint but I’m one of those looney liberal lefties. And very proud to be one.

At least you acknowledge cancel culture is insidious. That is something.

JHound · 03/01/2025 10:57

And his interference in foreign politics is disturbing. I cannot believe Luigi targeted the healthcare CEO when Clyde is right there…..

Magnastorm · 03/01/2025 10:57

YABU to think Musk gives a shit about this issue.

latetonews · 03/01/2025 10:57

As awful as Musk is, I do think we would do well to reflect a little on how issues like this arise and go largely unpunished or resolved.

Americans like Musk give zero fucks about what people think about them. Culturally on our little island we care far too much about what our neighbours/friends/enemies think. We would rather let young girls be drugged and raped than be perceived as racist.

whydoihavetowork · 03/01/2025 10:46

I'm happy to see the subject raised as it shouldn't be forgotten. But wtf has it got to do with him?!
There have been enquiries and even Nafir Azal who was the prosecutor has said there is no point in another. Once could argue not enough has been done absolutely. Disappointing to see Jess Philip's not being more vocal on it but then she's not going to support Musk is she?
I find it hard to take seriously anything a pro gun Trump supporter says so overall he is probably doing more harm than good.

Yes . We must never forget. I think Elon will be a great asset to US politics however I'm glad he's not afraid to call out over governments as he sees fit.

"I think it's also worth asking why the right wing ex government ignored the recommendations at the time. Certainly it's something that needs to be said to the likes of Badenoch every time she seeks to discuss the issue."

Just as Labour has blocked an inquiry into Sir Keir Starmer’s conduct as the head of the Crown Prosecution Service while investigating the Oldham child grooming scandal.

Magnastorm · 03/01/2025 10:57

YABU to think Musk gives a shit about this issue.

If he did, he has the means to make huge contributions to the agencies who work with the victims and make a difference to those communities.

Upstartled · 03/01/2025 10:59

MrsSkylerWhite · 03/01/2025 10:50

Musk, chum of Farage, trying to influence UK politics is in no way whatsoever a good thing.

Do you really think either care about young, working class girls in deprived areas of the UK?

Absolutely. I agree He's exploiting a vacuum engineered by three changes in government, in which the abuse, rape and torture of over 250,000 vulnerable white, working class girls was swept under the carpet and then carefully managed and minimised so as to not rock the boat, leaving communities feeling it unheard and unrepresented.

BlueSilverCats · 03/01/2025 11:01

@Chainzreaction why isn't he calling out his own government over the hundreds of thousands of children suffering the same fate in America?

You have a link to that claim?

BrickRedLipstick · 03/01/2025 11:01

I would be interested to hear what most of the posters think happened between these men and these girls? I understand this is potentially triggering but it feels like you want to believe they were in romantic relationships. This is exactly why the abuse happened. Honestly if you aren’t brave enough to read what actually happened stop accusing people who talk about it honestly of being racists.

HumanBurrito · 03/01/2025 11:02
  1. There has already been an enquiry
  2. studies have shown the grooming gangs are predominantly white
  3. I just don't believe the 250,000 figure. The entire population of Oldham is less than that.
Treaclewell · 03/01/2025 11:02

I have read through this, so I know there has been an enquiry, not acted on, and am waiting for evidence of the white gangs to add to the churches etc on the white side,

But as I read of Musk, supporter of a rich white abuser of women, who believes he can influence our monarch (What pressure is he going to use? Something about the king's brother?) I'm hearing an earworm from Horrible Histories. Marcus Licinius Crassus' minted song. "I'm the world's richest geezer, there's no-one richer than me." Crassus helped to enable the shift from Republic to Empire, not a good thing for democracy. He came to a sticky end, trying to defeat the inhabitants of what is now Iran. But not after he had been responsible for thousands of deaths by crucifixion of the slaves who supported Spartacus. Rule by rich geezers doesn't go well for the rest of the people.

DaniMontyRae · 03/01/2025 11:02

Chainzreaction · 03/01/2025 10:46

It's not a smear campaign! It's drawing global attention to the fact that an enquiry MUST take place.

THERE'S ALREADY BEEN AN INQUIRY!
Perhaps if people like you paid some fucking attention things may change. But you only seem to care when megalomaniacs like EM get involved.

TheBlackSheepbaaaa · 03/01/2025 11:02

The rape of children by so-called grooming gangs has been ( and still is ) a huge issue in my home town.
Our local MP campaigned for a Rotherham style enquiry in to it but our Labour run council blocked it.

Chillyallday · 03/01/2025 09:32

Thank goodness we have Elon in charge of Twitter and shining a light on this, as the mainstream media have spent many years covering it up. Whatever you think about Elon, without him taking on Twitter none of this would be coming to light now. The fact Labour are refusing an enquiry is indefensible, hopefully this will be reversed.

There's already been an inquiry. https://www.iicsa.org.uk/

It started in 2015 and ended in 2022. The then Conservative government and Kemi Badenoch didn't implement the recommendations. This current Labour Party should implement them.

Elon Musk is rather late to the party on this issue.

happydappy2 · 03/01/2025 11:03

for too long 'political correctness' has been seen as more important than protecting girls from sexual predators-this has to change. If we have a problem with a certain demographic we have to be able to state that.
