Gov refuses home office investigation into historic child sex abuse in Oldham

1000 replies

Perzival · 01/01/2025 23:45

I've just read on x that Jess Phillips has formally declined Oldham council's request for the HO to investigate the grooming gangs in Oldham. Why on Earth would they do this? Apparently JP says it should be a local investigation? Clearly that is a conflict of interests and if the council are asking for help they should?

The only link I can find other than x is GB news (apologies).

Labour REJECTS Oldham's call for Government inquiry into grooming gangs scandal

Safeguarding Minister Jess Phillips has said Oldham should 'take its own approach' instead

What was pointed out to me by a friend this weekend was there has been no far right protests this weekend. No far right attacks this weekend. Nothing. No night time rioting. Day time aggressions. No action on the streets. Despite it being all over social media and 250k girls being affected. Some reports say more. The men who attacked and were found guilty are walking around the community still. Yet people claim JP is in danger and that’s why she can’t look into this further.

The whole thing is making me question what the truth is and who to trust. Certainly not BBC - what a load of rubbish.

CherryBowl · 05/01/2025 11:42

CandlesOrangesRedribbon · 05/01/2025 11:23

@CherryBowl agree it's a national scandal and I think we need to decide as a county whose more important to us to protect.

I think the most frightening thing here is the people who shout ‘far right’ at anyone who attempts to discuss these issues and draw entirely correct conclusions and the cultural reasons behind them.

The real far right are terrifying and racist and violent.

And mothers who want to protect their children will be driven into what feels like their safe arms by the so-called liberals.

Accusing women of being racist because they are afraid of a culture that threatens them and their children will bring back the real jackboots to Europe.

As a country, we appear to have chosen to protect rape gangs.

This cannot end well.

MauveCrow · 05/01/2025 11:53

Seems the UK is now divided between two groups:

Those against the wholesale rape of children

Those against the wholesale rate of children, BUT....

If you are in the second group, you are trying to excuse, minimise, distract from or ignore the rape of children, yet you think it makes you good guys. There are no words for how deluded it makes you.

Musk, X, Far Right, Racism, Labour, Tories....all the talking points are a distraction.

There is a simple truth. The government(national and local) and our supposed public servants, have put racial/ethnic/religious tolerance ideology above the rights and safety of its own citizens. This was not an accident, or incompetence, it was a positive a choice to do so, and has encouraged and facilitated the rape of children.

I don't care who someone is, whether a politician, a social worker, a police officer, a judge or an immigration officer, if you are complicit in child rape then you need to go to prison.

Babadookinthewardrobe · 05/01/2025 11:55

Very well said @MauveCrow. I want to see criminal prosecutions for those police, social workers and politicians who have actively facilitated the continuation of these rapes.

Babadookinthewardrobe · 05/01/2025 11:58

We have already seen disorder on the streets as a result of this scandal and still the politicians kick it into the long grass. We want our daughters protected. If the government and police won’t do it, why are they surprised when the anger overspills. Must we continue to sacrifice our girls in support of community relations? Fuck that.

CandlesOrangesRedribbon · 05/01/2025 11:59

@MauveCrow

why are 3 ring leaders living along side their victims inspite of having their citizenship removed.

What happened and why does what they want trump the victims rights.

We could have deported them and we didn't. Why not, because we need to know whose side the government Tory and labour are on.

When did this disorder on the streets take place?

CandlesOrangesRedribbon · 05/01/2025 12:00

@Babadookinthewardrobe the fish rots from the head down.

We need to know what happened about a memo sent to the police not to make arrests because these girls made lifestyle choices.

Can you link to this memo?

There is an interview A whistle blower Ex-police officer Dionne Miller "The British Labour Government ( Gordon Brown and Jacqui Smith ) wilfully allowed British children to become prey to Pakistani rape gangs. They issued a BLANKET BAN on investigations."

The video is easy to find - Google Dionne Miller and blanket ban

These people should be prosecuted for treason. And Tony Blair should be locked in prison and the key thrown away. Evil, evil man. This is his doing.

@Babadookinthewardrobe the fish rots from the head down.

We need to know what happened about a memo sent to the police not to make arrests because these girls made lifestyle choices.

It was contained within a police circular in 2008 according to this tweet. Someone must have a copy. The images are worth scrutiny, particularly the one contained remarks by Sarah Champion.

https://x.com/JanetWhittake19/status/1217183182652461056

Can you make claims of this nature without facing legal consequences if they are false? I didn't think so and the former police officer who went public with this does not appear to be in jail.

Atissues · 05/01/2025 12:20

BBC Radio 4 reported in their PM programme on 19 October 2018 that in 2008, the Home Office sent a circular to all police forces in the country stating: "as far as these young girls who are being exploited in towns and cities, we believe they have made an informed choice about their sexual behaviour and therefore it is not for police officers to get involved in."

Mayor of London Assemby is the source I took the quote from.
This may be still be on catch up somewhere?

SunshineOceanAndOranges · 05/01/2025 12:22

The real issue is that deep-rooted misogyny and victim blaming failed to protect vulnerable girls; hopefully attitudes are changing but I suspect it's still an issue. Child sexual exploitation must be punished much more harshly. It is sadly not the preserve of Pakistani gangs (we know that Eastern European girls are routinely trafficked and exploited for example). Rapists like the sadists of Rotherham, but also guys of the Andrew Tate ilk, traffickers, pimps, ANY rapists, should be sterilised. You read that right. Men like that should be removed from the gene pool. When such a crime also has a race/cultural component, it should be handled like a terrorist offence. Those gangs terrorise their community. By the way, I consider forced marriages and FGM to fall under that category too. Forced marriages are institutionalised rape and FGM is torture. All women and girls from all ethnicities should be much better protected. Finally, I do not trust the far right. They're shit-stirring thugs keen on bringing us all under a fascist dictatorship which will oppress all of us. I want to live in a balanced democracy but for that of course, cowardice needs to stop and those issues need to be addressed - and be perceived to be addressed- with a lot more energy and dedication. As for Musk, all he cares about is deregulation for his businesses which is why he is going after left-leaning governments in the UK and Germany. Don't be naive.
Edited for typos.

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 05/01/2025 12:29

Times Radio discussing this earlier but about Musk versus Kemi Badenoch / Labour rather than the girls and what has been done to destroy these gangs and prevent these gangs from functioning now and in the future. It’s all a political game to those who don’t live in areas where these crimes happen.

Atissues · 05/01/2025 12:34

Far Right is a word used to shut down democratic debate. I think it is why the OP on this thread backed away from their own thread. It’s what is happening on another thread.

At present apparently people cannot walk around areas of the U.K. out of fear. Police didn’t help get girls back. Fathers were arrested instead. Girls were arrested instead of the 7 rapists. The welfare officer led the grooming gang ring. It has been said on here JP cannot speak out due to fear. She was heckled (when elected) and her assistants tyres slashed (during campaigning). Victims arrested and charged. The children of rape forced to see their rapist fathers. The actual details of the crimes not in public domain but were sanatised as grooming. BBC and many other news outlets not even talking about this global topic today.

Is this living in a democracy?

‘Article 10 of the Human Rights Act protects a right that's fundamental to our democracy – our freedom of expression is fundamental to our democracy. It means we're free to hold opinions and ideas and to share them with others without the State interfering’.

It sounds to me like the state have been interfering. Girls had police visit because they were interviewed. Etc etc.

Babadookinthewardrobe · 05/01/2025 12:34

It’s a political game to both Lab and Cons trying to avoid blame while not giving a crap about the victims. It’s truly disgusting.

To repeat a point raised multiple times on this thread - I couldn’t give a stuff about Elon Musk’s comments. He can fill his boots. He is only pointing out what is already starkly clear to the public.

Oh and those apologists on this thread whose only motivation is to cravenly protect their party of choice despite their role in facilitating the ongoing rapes and torture make me truly sick. Looking at you @blossomtoes. I don’t care about your political leanings - your minimising and straw men arguments trying to defend the indefensible are repulsive.

Almn0etd · 05/01/2025 12:38

People like Jess Phillips shows just far the standard in politics has fallen. The bar just keeps getting lower.

Has she ever had a proper job. Politics seems to be stuffed full of people who have never done real work and therefore. Perhaps because they were too thick to ever get real jobs.

Aduvetday · 05/01/2025 12:39

No-one actually believes Musk is doing it solely because of the girls. We all know he supports Reform. It doesn’t matter - people will back him as the Tory and now Labour government have left a huge hole. Populist figures are stepping in to fill that void. Until the left and hardened Labour voters start to realise this, he will become ever more popular as he fills the void and speaks for the person on the street. What people think of him is irrelevant - he is filling a gap and giving a voice to people who feel unheard. People felt let down by the Tories and now they know Labour aren’t the answer either.

These girls have been fundamentally let down by Labour and Cons. It is about time their stories shamed our nation to be honest. I don’t care who does it.

I haven’t defended anything. Your unfounded accusations are repulsive and I really should report them but I’d rather they were allowed to stand so other posters can see just how low you’re prepared to stoop.

SunshineOceanAndOranges · 05/01/2025 12:49

"These girls have been fundamentally let down by Labour and Cons. It is about time their stories shamed our nation to be honest." - Yes, they have been failed and it is shameful.
"I don’t care who does it." - you should if it is designed to undermine a democratically elected government and destabilise our institutions. Who is REALLY going to tackle the issue if it's political chaos? You think Nigel will be the one to do it? perhaps with his £100 million from Musk? Populists are very good at pressing down on really emotive pain points but they never ever offer practical, actionable solutions. It's always simplistic answers to complex issues. Always. We cannot fall for that.

BIossomtoes · 05/01/2025 12:50

Actually @Babadookinthewardrobe I’ve barely commented on this thread so I think you might have confused me with another poster. I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt, maybe be a bit more careful in future.

I agree with Baba. Blossomtoes seems to be a real fan of Labour and keeps trying to make excuses for them. That and saying 14 years of Tories etc etc

“Giving me the benefit of the doubt”?! Oh how kind you are dear leader. Please report me if you believe I have broken guidelines @blossomtoes otherwise your words ring rather hollow.
