Friends awful baby name

My best friend is due to have a baby soon, they are having a girl and she has been talking baby names with me, which feels super special. She has got a few very lovely traditional girly names, and a couple of more unusual choices, but not ‘offensive’. They are names I would expect from her. However, she has one absolutely terrible name, that actually just feels very cruel. It would be bad even by American standards and ‘tragedeigh’ names. It’s not that I wouldn’t choose it, it’s just crazy stupid and the child will be ridiculed by peers and adults. Some of her choices are genuinely wonderful, but I’m so worried she will madly choose this one awful name, I can’t say anything can I?!

Think Deffleigh-phart is the one I'm going to name my next one.

When I had DD I asked the woman in the bed opposite what her little boy's name was.

She replied "we're deciding between Soren and Welwyn". to which I naturally replied "as in Garden City?"

She gave me a sour look and said "that's what everyone says".

She did have an American accent so I can only hope if she opted for Welwyn the family ended up in the States.

Didn't think Soren was that great either!

It’s all personal choice though. Whilst you might think it’s terrible, another person might not think so. Can’t think it’s obviously bad, as assume your friend would be aware. I hear names, even on MN, thrown about that I think are genuinely awful, but each to their own.
