Ridiculous that we are on thread 3 🤣 but wanted to create one and post the link here in case anyone wants to continue to follow along for this wild, wild ride!

www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/5243297-should-she-replace-it-part-3

I'm not sure how a thread merits a move to MN Classics, or which of the three would get moved, but this seems like a good candidate...

I literally don't believe a word of it.

Don't get blown off course by her continued, relentless BS. Just get the money to replace it. I wouldn't trust her an INCH with buying one for you.

It's taken her days to come up with this crap. She obviously takes you for a gullible fool, OP.

This and at least you have a recording. I would give her until noon tomorrow to transfer the money for the Airwrap brand new to you or her to order one direct from Boots to YOUR address and email you proof of her doing this.

She lied and lied again. Blaming a theft at the hotel. Now her sister - so no intention of driving to the hotel today then. You have texts and evidence enough for a small claims court.

Give her until noon.

Dear Sharon

I have screen shotted all of your lies and manipulation as well as recorded the last call. Your behaviour is beyond despicable. First you said you left it at the hotel and accused an employee of stealing it - I was prepared today to report it to the police. Potentially this could have wasted police time, and / or involved action against an employee and a lengthy waste of of their time as that you have said was a lie. You then said you lent it out - you had no right to do this. It should have been returned straight to me. You say your sister broke it - it was lent to you, you were responsible. You have stalled every single step of the way over buying a replacement and just lied at each point. I no longer trust anything you say. You have until 12 noon tomorrow to transfer me £400 for a brand new one to my account so I can do this tomorrow or to order it direct from Boots to my address as the order delivery address and email me confirmation that not only has it been ordered and paid for by you, but also ordered for me to my address. Failure to do this will mean that I file online to the small claims court for the full amount and time spent chasing this up and any other expenses. I will file tomorrow at 12 noon as I want to put this behind me and I no longer trust you - you have lied and then changed those lies - really you were going to drive to the venue with your DH today - to pick it up? Knowing it wasn’t there. Accusing employees of theft etc all the time I am without my air wrap. I am speechless. At 12 noon tomorrow I will file to the court - the court fees I will also claim back from you - I do not believe anything you say so only the money or an order confirmation is acceptable.

and then file - it is so easy to do online. I’ve done it. Dead easy.

MrsPositivity1 · 02/01/2025 19:20

@Langarg great response

Pedallleur · 02/01/2025 19:29

Madness. Just apologise, click the link from eg Boots or Argos. Collect in store or preferably pay the post. Job done. No need for untruths or blame. The fact she won't click the link tells us she won't pay it.

stayathomegardener · 02/01/2025 18:02

At least you can go 50/50 with your sister on the replacement cheeky friend.

£199.50 in the Boots offer, you can even keep the points.

OP's was the Prussian Blue one which is £399.99 on offer in Boots.

AnotherCF · 02/01/2025 19:44

Needs to come clean to DH? Translation: to come up with a story to tell him why she needs £400 from him to get the money out of him. She needs time..to work out who she can con the money out of.

SqueakyDoor · 02/01/2025 19:46

Has she even got a sister?

I'd be wondering that at this point...

Langarg · 02/01/2025 17:15

Thanks for the info re recording the phone call. Will record from another phone with mine on loudspeaker. No phone call yet but I asked if she could call me asap

Did you tell her because we’re all waiting for the call on Mumsnet 😆

AngelicKaty · 02/01/2025 19:53

@SavingTheBestTillLast Read all of OP's posts, specifically her last couple of updates.

MrsPeterHarris · 02/01/2025 19:55

So sorry she's such a CF & throwing your friendship down the drain. Hope you get the cash soon.

chickenlettuceunderbacon · 02/01/2025 19:56

Whatever the truth actually is, is a complete red herring.

The bottom line is the OP is owed both the original and supposedly broken Dyson, and also a brand new one. The former is immaterial really. The friend (and possibly the sister) need to replace the Air Wrap ASAP with a new one.

That's it.

drspouse · 02/01/2025 19:57

But the dog is looking majestic.

But what I need to know is: did the dog do that style with or without the airwrap.....

menopausalfart · 02/01/2025 20:10

It eems as if a few of the CFs family have turned up on the new thread.

LookItsMeAgain · 02/01/2025 20:13

Langarg · 02/01/2025 17:54

Well well well. The phone call took place. I’m shocked at the lies and the lengths she went to to cover up the lies to be honest!

Some previous posters were correct. She lent it to someone else and that person broke it. Can you believe it!!

She waffled on and on and made excuses for her behaviour at every turn. Essentially she admitted that following the wedding, her sister (one of the witnesses) asked if she could borrow it. Her sister apparently guilt tripped her in to letting her borrow it due to her sister paying for half of the small wedding.

She told me she regularly asked her sister to return it but didn’t hear anything from her (hence why she didn’t reply to me for a good few days). Her sister eventually came clean when she seen her on Christmas Day, admitting that she’d knocked a glass of wine over it and broke it. Her sister convinced her to come up with the cover story of leaving it in the hotel in order to buy some time to get money together to replace it.

I was not expecting what she said so was left a bit speechless if I’m honest. I told her that I wanted to digest the information but ultimately there’s no option other than to replace the airwrap for a new one as I don’t want to trust some random second hand one. She agreed and said that she was going to come clean to her husband tonight (he had no clue about any of this) and that she would be in touch no later than tomorrow morning with a resolution.

I honestly don’t know what to believe any more 🤣 did she sell it? Did she break it? Or did she genuinely lend it out?! Seems like CF’ery runs in the family though!

I'd get back to her tonight.

I'd tell her that as the device is beyond use, you want another one ordered for delivery to you - if she buys from Boots and uses her Advantage Card she could at least make something with the points but ultimate aim here is that she buys something that will get to you in the next 48 hours and you will need proof (because she has lied so often up to now) as you frankly no longer believe her about anything.

She no longer gets the benefit of having time to tell her DH about it. Why should she? She's had days and days and days.

That's what I would do.

LookItsMeAgain · 02/01/2025 20:21

Sorry - just after seeing that you have already responded to her whackadoodle nonsense in her phone call.

Going to move to thread 3 to see if there has been any further progress.

greyweek · 02/01/2025 21:21

I think she'll just block you and never be in touch, I'm afraid.
I can imagine her sitting with her sister having a chuckle about it, zero guilt.
Sorry, op.

Petlover9 · 02/01/2025 21:32

AhBiscuits · 31/12/2024 23:58

I've got a Dyson Airwrap but I just use it as a hairdryer. Are there any tricks or tips for hairstyles you can achieve quite quickly with it? I did curls and they looked nice but it took a full hour.

Trusty old Carmen Heated Rollers for curls, you can put them in, shower, dress and make-up THEN take them out. You need a separate hair dryer for washed hair.

LordBummenbachsMagnificentBalls · 02/01/2025 22:03

Next step is “I told my husband and he says you have to ask my sister for the money…”
Given that she’s ruined the friendship for you anyway OP I would suggest you just start the process with small claims. She has delayed and lied so much it’s likely she thinks she can drag it out long enough for you to just let it go and this is leaving you without your airwrap

spinningisthebest · 02/01/2025 22:07

Surely we can all be comforted by the new posters in support of the CF 'friend' who have stated that OP will definitely get her money back 😉

AngelicKaty · 02/01/2025 19:41

Are they the ones that stun easily? Beeaaauùtiful plumage, though Grin
