You lent the AW to cf = cf replaces it
Cf sister broke it = cf has to deal with Sister

One of them still has the AW broken or not so can claim on their insurance so cf can buy one on her credit card and she will be reimbursed by the insurance as between the pair of them one will have insurance, and insist you have it asap as you now don't know anyone who has a working hairdryer to lend to you.

You can't trust anything she says now. The only things that matters is that she replaces it. A new one not a second hand one.

You know I think she still has it. Do you know her sister? It's easy to blame someone who you won't ask.

First she blamed the hotel now there is this elaborate story about a sister and a master plan...

I did wonder if the dh had no idea (so many lies about he didn’t want to drive in the weather warning etc…) and I was going to say try calling him next os you have his number. Also explains why the hotel was none the wiser. Well well well the plot thickens!

It's irrelevant really. You lent it to her, she was negligent with your propery,and she needs to replace it.

I have to admit that I wasn’t expecting the call with the friend to end well but the extra twist is shocking. I do however feel genuinely hurt for you that a friend could not only lend out your AW to someone you might not know particularly well without your knowledge or consent but then to weave such a terrible web of lies when you were kind enough to allow her to borrow them.
Your own set of AW is unlikely to return and not that you would want a AW that has allegedly experienced an attack by a random glass of wine back, but now the friend and her sister can send you the money to get a brand new AW with immediate effect.

Don't believe a word of it honestly

You can’t trust anything she says . Why not just say ‘my sister broke it and I need a few weeks to save for a new one ‘ , which would have been more believable than the rubbish story she came up with . If she hasn’t ordered a new one tomorrow tell her you will take her to small claims .
