To wish that 'hubby' was banned on MN?

I see more and more posters are referring to their husbands as "hubby". I can't stand the abbreviation and wish it would disappear.🫥

OP posts:

Well I can't tolerate seeing "Picky bits", and "Pack up" on here. Can those words be banned as well?

Omg same!!! It's so irritating!!

I am glad that people have stopped saying "needs fed" now though, that really annoyed me.

TheCrenchinglyMcQuaffenBrothers · 31/12/2024 11:44

The Pankhursts didn’t get killed…

Eh?

Cherrypickled · 31/12/2024 11:50

I'd ban 'vile' 'ghastly' 'grim' 'narc' 'super'

Lastofthesummerwine · 31/12/2024 11:51

TotallyTwisted · 31/12/2024 10:54

Ah OP, you just need some chill time on holibobs with the famalam.

😂😂😂

Pinetreethree · 31/12/2024 11:53

As long as 'nibbles', 'nibbly bits' and 'picky bits' can be added to the banned list too.

fairydustt · 31/12/2024 10:53

The worst thing people do on Mumsnet is “DD” “DS” especially when sometimes they’re referring to their sister and sometimes their son. Or sometimes their daughter or sometimes their dad, and you just have to figure out what the hell they’re talking about!

Yes, like bf

Argh "picky bits tea" is just awful 😬 It makes me want to scream. I do not know why. 😂

DonnaBanana · 31/12/2024 10:29

That’s a weird thing to call your husband though.

But no, not if you’re over 12 years old. Mummy is a child’s word.

Not if you're in Ireland it's not. Mummy and daddy are extremely common.

picky bits makes me think of someone cleaning out the black dirt from
under their horny fingernails with the fingernails of their other hand, ugh

Andoutcomethewolves · 31/12/2024 11:58

Is hubster any better?

ThriveIn2025 · 31/12/2024 11:58

I wish they would also ban quoting the first OP. Drives me mad or incandescent with rage when it’s on the first page.

CouchSpud · 31/12/2024 11:58

I find the D before everything on her really odd.

Like dsister, ddog, dmil… it’s longer so I just can’t make sense of it.

so Technically it should be dhubby.

Probably after scratching their feet or bum crack 🤢

I have no problem with any abbreviation for spouse with the exception of DH. All the DH, DD, DSS etc etc make posts really grating and distracting to read for me. Give me hubby instead of DH every time.

CouchSpud · 31/12/2024 12:00

Cherrypickled · 31/12/2024 11:50

I'd ban 'vile' 'ghastly' 'grim' 'narc' 'super'

Agree!… These are often used by the try hard group who think they’re better than everyone… and likely a narc themselves

I find that if I spend too much time on MN I start using these abbreviations in real life 🙈

Oh please can we ban vile. This is not a word I have ever heard in real life. It's peak mumsnet.

Marchweshall · 31/12/2024 12:03

DorothyStorm · 31/12/2024 10:38

Of course we can!

I would give a 7 day suspension to people who quote the original poster’s original post. Instant suspension.

‘man here’ would get an instant ban. Because of what it silently says. ‘Im a man so i know what im talking about. Listen to my wise words! Silly ladies step aside for the penis bearer. Have you tried smiling more? He has a big job, after all. Your profession is clearly a part-time hobby.’

To be honest men being on here full stop really irritates me. Is there nothing that women can have without it being invaded by men.

Yes and 'naice'.

X 10

Butchyrestingface · 31/12/2024 10:55

How about DB - Dear Budgie?

My favourite ever was DFish 😊

WalterdelaMare · 31/12/2024 12:09

Kinneddar · 31/12/2024 10:35

I'd ban all the 'D' prefixes ESPECIALLY DDog & DCat. I mean why???

I think hubby is less annoying than DH especially when DH is far from D & actually being a total prick

Me too! The Ds are ridiculous nowadays. And unnecessary.

VacuumPacked · 31/12/2024 12:09

and ‘grab’ who ‘grabs’ a coffee? or anything, it’s so aggressive,
it’s also arrogant, denoting speed and imperative,
‘spotlight on me grabbing some lunch’ cos I’m in a hurry
Im busy busy busy, only have time to grab, I’m so important -
how many times has anyone heard a colleague or companion say -
“just let me grab a (whatever) and I’ll be right with you”

I think I've managed to work out most of the acronyms/abreviations now but CF still eludes me. I understand that it means, 'Disagreeable person' but in more literal terms? Is it the F word and the C word in some mixed up formulation?

it's "cheeky fucker"

google will tell you any you don't know, just type in mumsnet and the abbreviation you want

SunnieShine · 31/12/2024 12:15

Nuanced 🤢. No, it doesn't make you sound clever.
Furbaby can stay though 😀
