Mine got me “what I asked for and more than the budget”… We don’t have a set budget that I’m aware of 😂 but if we did it would be more than that.

The good, the bad, the ugly. How did you do? I’d love to hear stories of spoilt mums 🙏🏻

I got more than usual - all lovely thoughtful things. He's pretty good at presents generally. Possibly still making up for one of our very first christmases when he bought me a size 22 dressing gown (I was an 8)

A night away in a posh spa hotel (rather more than we usually spend, hope it's worth it, on the other hand money not tight so it's not like he's done something stupid).

The "voucher" for the night away was inserted in a box with some earrings. Very pretty, but not expensive (I hope!)

A pair of walking poles (cue jokes about me being old, but actually it's something we've talked about trying for long/steep walks for a while)

A guide book and a recipe book for a country we are visiting for the first time soon.

BusyPoster · 30/12/2024 14:23

Fluffy socks
A scarf
Toiletries
Prosecco
A bag and earrings from Accessorize

I didn’t do a list, I just said a surprise.

I am very happy.

MillyVannily · 30/12/2024 14:55

Nothing. I get whatever I want so don't need presents. We buy just for the kids.

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 30/12/2024 15:34

I got spoilt, a shark pro hairdryer and a voucher for new GHD’s - my hair dryer set on fire on the 20th December while using it 😮and my old GHD’s has only has one plate working, I’ve had them for over 8 years.

He also got me Charlotte Tilbury makeup and Ciate of London makeup (my favourite brand for the last 2 years).

We normally don’t do expensive/extravagant gifts for each other but this year has been 💩

bifurCAT · 30/12/2024 15:40

Nothing

It was the first Christmas we did this, and it was nice to not have the pressure. IT just ends up being a 'get what you think they might want', or 'get what's on a list' deal, so...

Far better to get them something throughout the year when you see they actually want/need it.

Dramatic · 30/12/2024 15:45

Mine got me a Blakely hoodie, some heated slippers and a box of lindt chocolates. I'm very happy, just what I asked for 😊

SpringleDingle · 30/12/2024 15:49

I said only practical gifts or things that can be used up / consumed. I got spatulas, books, a new calendar, a lovely jumper, cosmetics and chocolates. I was delighted. He also bought my daughter some lovely presents.

okydokethen · 30/12/2024 15:53

Dyson air wrap which is great for both me and teen DD and some slippers which to be honest I don't like, I don't think he'll mind though.

Zebracat · 30/12/2024 15:57

Clothes from my favourite shop. Very expensive scent. Armagnac. Lots of books, all good. Soap. Pearl earrings. Chocolates. I got him books, kitchen things. Stuff for his hobby. Whisky. Chocolate. Clothes. A really fancy ice scraper and a duck that is also a clothes brush.we might send a few links to things we like, but don’t always get them. No budget. Despite it being quite random, we had exactly the same (huge) amount of presents. We exchange things privately in the morning and keep back 1 small gift each for the family exchange of modest gifts after lunch. We are really selfeffacing people who generally put others first. But we love how we do gifts and it isn’t gonna change till one of us dies.

GiddyRobin · 30/12/2024 16:02

I was spoiled! I got a gorgeous locket, complete with photos of the DC and a lock each of their hair, two perfumes from Lush (my favourite), some gorgeous sapphire earrings, books, bath items, lots of nice tea and a tea set, and some nice cosy sweatshirts for lounging around in. And too many chocolates. 😂 Oh, and a pair of over the head earphones which are fab!

irregularegular · 30/12/2024 16:22

deleted as I decided it was unecessarily mean

Planesmistakenforstars · 30/12/2024 16:22

A very nice expedition tent that I've been wanging on about for ages. It's for both of us really, but I think he's secretly hoping that I'll move into the garden so he can have the heating on as high as he likes without me complaining about the heat.

CrowleyKitten · 30/12/2024 16:48

most people probably wouldn't be impressed by the things I got, but I'm happy with them.
I got
a really nice Jurassic Park Christmas Jumper.
the Allosaurus figure to add to my dinosaur collection
a Good Omens Canvas bag.

he usually gets more than that for me, but we're both consciously spending less this year, as things are a bit tight.
everything I got was thoughtful, and something I like. I'm obsessed with Good Omens and I've loved Dinosaurs all my life.

CharlotteCChapel · 30/12/2024 17:02

He bought me a load of tshirts, and some books.

WilfredsPies · 30/12/2024 17:06

ParsnipPuree · 30/12/2024 04:44

Wow.. as somebody who doesn't celebrate Christmas, from these posts it seems people spend more on it present-wise than partner's birthdays is that correct?

Definitely yes, in our household. We’re massive Christmas fans and like to spoil each other, but neither of us really bother about birthdays.

We decided to do handmade gifts this year. DH decorated Russian nesting dolls with our faces. It's absolutely beautiful, I was completely blown away.

that's so thoughtful!

mamaduckbone · 30/12/2024 17:09

Some jeans that I knew about, perfume and chocolate that I didn't. I was happy!

braaaiiins · 30/12/2024 17:16

Not my husband but he bought me a massive parcel of Belgian beer and some very swanky chocolates. And best of all he brought himself over for a visit, i haven't seen him since October and it was SO good to see him again.

WeWillGetThereInTheEnd · 30/12/2024 17:20

We agreed, we’d buy each other:

A Swiss army knife - we find them very useful, and we have both lost ours
A jigsaw
A fleece

We have had an extension and are having to buy the fluffy bits, like furniture, curtains, etc. Now is not the time to buy other stuff!

WickWood · 30/12/2024 17:21

We had our baby boy in October, so my partner got me a necklace with our sons initial, a pair of earrings and a wonderbly book for mine and our sons first Christmas with a personalised photo and message inside. I was very happy with that!

Grannyinnwaiting · 30/12/2024 18:08

Some nice undies, restaurant voucher to my favourite place and voucher for a great clothes shop - also got an IOU for a go- pro which I want - all a bit rushed but bless him as I had unanticipated surgery an hour away the week before Christmas and his sister was arriving with her DD from overseas so he had to do all the cleaning and bed changing in between visiting me and picking up the visitors - FIL, MIL and my DSis also were coming to us for Christmas and can no longer drive - he is the best DH ever!

measureofmydreams · 30/12/2024 22:57

We had a budget as my DH is retired, and we really have all we need or want.

A Tilly Sveaas bracelet to match my necklace
Two books
A pack of six walnut whips

ItsFreedomBabyYeah · 30/12/2024 23:53

LouiseTopaz · 30/12/2024 04:43

We don't do presents on Christmas day anymore. If one of us wants something through the year we just buy it ourselves. We are both happier doing this.

A bit joyless, but we are similar. Nobody is left feeling sad or disappointed that way. We try & get each other a small surprise "token" gift just to feel some thought & effort was made...

Speckyfourfries · 31/12/2024 00:19

An atrocious mug from Morrisons which says "Tea" on. I drink coffee and collect /use Emma Bridgwater mugs...

AEP123 · 01/01/2025 17:22

Best Gift I asked for: Bamboo steamer

Worst gift: Not getting the bamboo steamer I asked for. Everything I did have was great, all fine can’t complain.. but the one thing I asked for and was looking forward to making some soup dumplings 🥲
