Mine got me “what I asked for and more than the budget”… We don’t have a set budget that I’m aware of 😂 but if we did it would be more than that.

The good, the bad, the ugly. How did you do? I’d love to hear stories of spoilt mums 🙏🏻

A beautiful necklace with my birthstone and a pair of earrings, both from a local jeweller I love.

A piece of vintage pottery from a range I collect. They're 1930s and getting harder to find.

He's a wonderful present-giver, always thoughtful, always things I love and often things I didn't know I needed but I do!

I know I'm very fortunate.

Morporkia · 30/12/2024 11:50

My list consisted of fluffly socks, pyjamas, and some hair and bath stuff. I got all of my list plus... A lovely pair of earrings I looked at in the summer. Baileys chocolate deluxe, a box set of a series I love, A la perla candle, Marc Jacobs perfume. He did do good. Tbf I bought him a collectors edition boxset of vinyl he's been after for a while.. we are both happy bunnies. 🤶🎅😊❤️

ParsnipPuree · 30/12/2024 11:59

He usually gives me a Harrods voucher for things I wouldn't normally buy, but I said nothing this year as we are on a trip of a lifetime I wanted to do and he didn't so I told him that was more than enough!

Doggydoctor · 30/12/2024 12:00

Some gifts are truly very thoughtful from some DP/H Sorry to those who didn’t gift or were thoughtless.

My DH gave me a beautiful necklace gym trainers and leggings (with help from DD) perfume leather gloves and a cashmere scarf I adore.

Amongst DHs gifts I gave him a weekend in Rome with tickets to the 6Nations Rugby Italy v France game. I Extended the trip a few days for us to see his family in southern Italy.

Wish you all the best for 2025 when it comes.

NZDreaming · 30/12/2024 12:02

Nothing which was fine with me as there was nothing I wanted! I had an expensive birthday treat this year which I felt was more than generous plus I’m not really bothered about receiving gifts. I did buy him a present which was quite expensive but it was more because it was something he needed than wanted and I knew he wouldn’t buy for himself.

dontforgetme · 30/12/2024 12:05

An anklet, pjs, perfume, Barbour hat and scarf set and some make up bits I asked for.

He's really good at presents!

He also bought me an early present a couple of weeks ago, tickets to a gig I really wanted to attend.

dontforgetme · 30/12/2024 12:07

He also got be a bottle of Taittinger 😋

Imposter1212 · 30/12/2024 12:09

Apparently my husband keeps notes of stuff I mention throughout the year (proof he listens haha) so I did very well.

A new smart watch,
2 new CND gel polishes in colours I had mentioned.
A Dyson air wrap
Rituals shower gels
Pair of earrings
Perfume

He also took the children shopping to get me gifts. From them I got chocolates, 2 books from my list, a phone case and scarf.

A voucher for a day spa with three hours of treatments.

2 books

A new wardrobe - 4 dresses, 4 warm layers, 4 trousers, 2 jumpsuits, 5 tops, 4 pairs of shorts. All paired with a selection of accessories.

So much thought. Everything was perfectly sized and I honestly love every item.

Delighted.

That sounds lovely but where do you live that you’d need four pairs of shorts?!

MrsHappyTourist · 30/12/2024 12:29

Lovely seeing all the ladies be spoilt by their husbands ❤️

I got Billy Ocean CD which he’s managed to open and reseal with tickets to his concert inside. It made me so. As I’d just lost my grandparents and that’s why I love Billy Ocean so much as it was my grandads CD. Also Pandora earrings and charm, Ugg slippers, a retro gameboy colour that I had from my childhood in original box with a game, a starbies gift voucher and lots of lovely gifts in my stocking. He really pushed the boat out this year and I stuck to budget and felt terrible as I would normally go over.

I got a gift voucher for a jewellery maker as I am saving up for a beautiful jewellery piece. I am very grateful.

He also got me some surprises….I feel so ungrateful but I have to say it - they are completely wasteful. I can’t believe how influenced he has been by instahuns.

An awful rip off of a Dyson Airwrap. I don’t need a hairdryer, I didn’t ask for one. I’ve tried it, my hair was like straw afterwards. If I continued using it my hair would be so damaged.

A desktop light up make up mirror thing, lightweight plastic and just ugly. I didn’t ask for it and would never use it.

A pair of PJs that are not my size, he binned the tags so they can’t be returned.

He’s a very generous and kind person. This year I firmly believe that he was simply influenced by influencers petaling absolute shite.

I’m thinking a wish list will be the way forward going forward, simply to avoid waste to be honest.

I feel guilty writing this…..

Edited

It’s ok to not like the things you were gifted. You can’t put aside your own feelings to ensure someone else is happy.

I completely agree about the things men see online and think women want due to how they are marketed. I make sure to constantly say “look at this crap babe” when I see yet another influencer advertising their over consumption. Works like a dream.

hope you had a lovely Christmas despite the gifts.

Pinkstuffs · 30/12/2024 12:37

I got some lovely presents; a dressing gown, jumper from Jigsaw that I’ve wanted for ages, goodies from Elemis and Molton Brown, perfume, some Charlotte Tilbury make up bits and some presents from my baby as well. But we do make lists especially as I have a December birthday!

MayaPinion · 30/12/2024 12:37

Trip to Rome to see my favorite band.

AEP123 · 30/12/2024 12:39

DH, who is usually prone to just going out on Christmas Eve and buying whatever’s in stock..

This year brought me a perfume that I had mentioned wanting to try, but I’d only mentioned it once, many months ago as when I looked it’s a pretty pricey perfume so I didn’t want to expect him to spend that much on me, but low and behold, the man listened and did good!

citychick · 30/12/2024 12:39

There are some very generous husbands around 😊
I got a Ninja kitchen pan. I did ask for that.
Also, a trip to visit family before Christmas. Cost a lot, and I didn't pay a dime. It was very nice.

Last year, I got gardening gloves. I didn't want that. I asked for a £30 watch that I really did want. Never got it yet.

Happy New Year!

AnonyMouse80 · 30/12/2024 12:45

Mine is not great at presents 😩. So he got me the puzzle board and jigsaw I requested.

He is however great with housework, as a parent and does more than his share of cooking so I suppose you can’t have everything! 😆

Everlore · 30/12/2024 13:09

Our baby is due next week so my husband and I agreed not to really do presents for each other this year and just have a lovely cosy Christmas at my in-laws where we were thoroughly spoiled and over-fed! Most of our presents from family and friends were baby related this year which is what we wanted, though we both got lots of chocolate too! I did get my husband a Christmas Simpsons t-shirt and some novelty festive chocolate and he got me some nursing nighties and some chocolate crisps, but that was really enough as we're just so focused on our new arrival at the moment!

PotatoBreadForTheWin · 30/12/2024 13:14

@Showerflowers what a thoughtful DH you have, that must have been a lovely surprise

roundsquares · 30/12/2024 13:26

Nintendo Switch as I’d always wanted one. Perfume I wanted which was a bit £££ which is why I hadn’t bought myself. Clothes from my favourite store 😊.

I don’t think there’s been a single year where he’s bought me nothing/stuff I wouldn’t like/wrong sized etc.

Very appreciated.

madamepresident · 30/12/2024 13:30

Necklace and bracelet , perfume , smellies, a power bank and an air fryer. (Ours went on the blink a few months ago and I've been moaning about missing it )

LBOCS2 · 30/12/2024 13:33

An LED face mask and some earrings, plus he half filled my stocking (not an innuendo 😁) so I got some foodie goodies and a small bottle of champagne there too. He takes direction very well!

IlooklikeNigella · 30/12/2024 13:36

A necklace, earrings and bracelet - all beautiful and exactly what I would have chosen. A new hairdryer.

I was thrilled.

In our first two years together he was crap at presents which caused feelings of hurt and disregard. He didn't understand how much I appreciate receiving gifts he had chosen for me.

I had A Big Birthday within two years of meeting him. There was much speculation about what I thought he might get me. I was really excited to see what he'd chosen. The evening before we happened to be in a shopping centre with an hour to kill before collecting his DC. The shops were all teenage kind of places. He randomly turned to me and said "oh while we are here, do you want to pick out a present, budget of X - I know you're not bothered about presents (eh what?) but just so I've something to give you tomorrow."

I remember pasting on a fake smile and finding a pair of runners. I was crushed but like an idiot didn't tell him until some unrelated problems came up later in our relationship. I think the fact he decided I wasn't bothered about presents despite me always putting loads of effort into his annoyed me even more.

Anyway he now never scrumps on the present buying. They were very generous this year but there have been times when finances are tight and we get very inexpensive but romantic things for each other.

murasaki · 30/12/2024 13:45

A middle class woman of a certain age t shirt, a new amethyst nose stud and amethyst bracelet.

And most importantly put up with staying with my parents for 3 days, which is quite the feat.

worriedgal · 30/12/2024 14:03

Luxury soap
