To think they should take him to the vets

My mum and dads dog had a full box of ‘black magic’ dark chocolates yesterday and today has vomiting, wheezing, and is laid down looking very sorry for himself but they won’t take to the vets saying none will be open now

It's not emotional

If you don’t care about the dog, why are you posting?

Same reason as you

If he was still alive surely op would have popped back. My post was deleted for breaking rules but it was stomach churning thinking about that poor ddog. Wasn't just me holding op partly responsible... I hope op is also OK. Not sure how her relationship with the ones she should love and respect will be going forward.. Hopefully she gave the ddog a better chance in the end though...

herriotmademedoit · 29/12/2024 16:43

What's the situation today OP @Huggyhuggy ?

Wheresthebeach · 29/12/2024 17:03

Considering how nasty this thread is I’d be surprised if the OP returns. I hope she does…but I suspect if the dog is very sick she’ll not want to put up with the abuse she’d get.

This exactly yes! I feel so sad that she was put in that position when she was doing her best. I strongly suspect the dog passed away. The description of the dog sounded very bad, most likely it’s organs shutting down but I am no vet so I guess anything is possible. I really cannot imagine it surviving that.

Hskatkat · 29/12/2024 17:26

I'm also sure that the dog hasn't made it .
Op has probably name changed and won't be coming back , awful situation
But Imo her parents are awful for letting the poor dog suffer and if it has survived they should re-home it.
I would have happily taken it to the emergency vets ( & asked roughly where op was) and probably paid if really needed to be sorted out there and then.
I've rushed two of mine in a taxi to emergency vet when it was thought they had eaten something dangerous and another one of mine who was extremely unwell for a weekend stay ( well over a grand).

If you choose to have pets you should be responsible for them .

Ihavethebestdogs · 29/12/2024 17:31

Any news, OP? Even if it's to say the poor dog didn't make it.
Please, please do all you can to discourage your parents from ever getting another dog again. A dog's suffering is no different from ours. Pain is pain, fear is fear. Dogs are defenceless and can do nothing to help themselves😢My husband and I have several dogs and would rather suffer and go without than see one of them in this situation. I honestly pray for the day when dog licences and insurance are compulsory...

LittleMissLateForWorkAgain · 29/12/2024 18:07

I really want to know how the dog is 😢

Huggyhuggy · 29/12/2024 18:14

Hskatkat · 29/12/2024 18:20

I'm glad he's OK. Thank you for coming back and letting us know.

LetThereBeLove · 29/12/2024 18:20

Thanks for the update Hugghuggy delighted that the dog has recovered 👏

Jifmicroliquid · 29/12/2024 18:21

I’m assuming, given the vagueness of the OPs update that he wasn’t taken to the vet. I hope they got away with it and the dog is fine, but I doubt OP would admit it if the dog dies…

Thank you for updating. I’m so relieved and I bet you are too. Have they taken bloods?

He’s one lucky boy to have survived 😥

VeterinaryCareAssistant · 29/12/2024 18:27

2dogsandabudgie · 28/12/2024 18:37

If the OP took the dogs to the vets they would need paying immediately after treatment. She wouldn't be able to say send my parents the bill. That's not how vets work.

That actually happens all the time! Many people leave and pay later.

Hskatkat · 29/12/2024 18:28

@Huggyhuggy he is beautiful 🐶😍

MerryMaker · 29/12/2024 18:34

Did he actually need treatment or did they just check him over?

Wheresthebeach · 29/12/2024 18:35

Awww so gorgeous

Bloody hell… maybe stop kicking the OP now?

XenoBitch · 29/12/2024 18:40

I am so glad he was seen and is ok. He is gorgeous. I have a soft spot for sighthounds.
Well done, OP.

Apologies. I just get very frustrated with animal neglect.
