Why does he leave the knives and forks in the sink to soak?

or fail to spot the grill tray and oven trays as items to be washed up?

johnso · 02/05/2008 13:47

I'll elaborate; he insists on washing up, absolutely insists, then when I go back to check if he's done it, knoves and forks still in the sink!!
Well, I challenged him on it and he says sorry, our youngest woke up and he had to go and see to him!
I've heard that one before

Johnso - there is a definite male/female divide when it comes to standards of washing up!! My DH (when he actually does it) always leaves the dirty greasy water in the washing up bowl - sometimes I only discover it the following morning when I go into the kitchen. WHY WHY WHY??!!

BouncingTurtle · 02/05/2008 13:51

My DH piles everything in the sink, and then tries to build a rather wobbly mountain of crockery, glasswear and pans on the drainer, rather than stop to dry and put some things away before starting on another lot!

They do it deliberately to get out of it, you know!

themoon66 · 02/05/2008 13:51

Get a dishwasher. Mind you, I did that and now I get all picky about the way DH loads it

needajob, my dh NEVER used to empty the water out either! Same when he has a bath. Now we have a dishwasher, problemo solved. (He doesn't take a bath in the dishwasher)

chuggabopps · 02/05/2008 13:52

blee- and they never think to clean the sink of the washing up splatters either (congealed leftover spag bol down side of washing up bowl- left for next person to was up in) then have the gall to say things like "you wash up better than me"

johnso · 02/05/2008 13:53

Yes, and a big pot on the stove that he failed to have an excuse for!!

I would love a dishwaher but money (and space) is tight. My friend kept nagging her DH for a dishwasher as she was sick of doing it all. She went away for two weeks and within a day of her going, her dh ordered one!!!

Yes, can relate to the sudden blindness to big dirty pots oven trays greasy marks on splash back etc etc!!! And the comment about how i do it better (well get some bloody practice then!!!!)

VictorianSqualor · 02/05/2008 13:57

Ugh, DP often tries to 'help' out by doing the washing up, he'll tell me to go sit down and chill whilst he does it, then he'll wash up the greasiest, dirtiest pan first and do everything else n the now dirty water always leaving the glasses til the very last moment, cue me going to get a drink and rewashing it all.
Point being?

WigWamBam · 02/05/2008 13:58

You don't like your dh very much, do you, Johnso?

VictorianSqualor · 02/05/2008 14:01

have there been other threads?

TheFallenMadonna · 02/05/2008 14:02

LOL

johnso · 02/05/2008 14:05

Well, mine hasn't got the no practice excuse-he does it practically every night and still bloody useless!!
I have to check it when he's finished!!

does everyone else know something about Johnso and her DH that I don't?

Pennypops · 02/05/2008 14:10

Oh yes, the "leaving it in to soak" chestnut. Mine also does the "pile it all in the sink then lift it out and wonder why it isn't clean" routine.

Bless him, at least he tries.

SheikYerbouti · 02/05/2008 14:12

DP on;u washed plates and bowls.

Coups, g;asses, ciutlery and pand are all left behind "because there's not enough room"

Johnso has got to be a trolling alter ego? Shurely?
