Am I ‘outnumbered’ in not understanding why people dislike Mrs Brown’s Boys and James Corden?

I’m making the ‘sitcom’ play on words to ask the following :

Mrs Brown’s Boys is not exactly best sitcom I’ve ever watched but it’s not the worst

Whenever I see JC he comes across quite well.

I ask in all honesty:

HAVE I MISSED SOMETHING?

YABU

Mrs Browns Boys is dogshit

Because neither of them are funny? In fact they are just irritating?

People don't like JC as there are numerous stories of him being v unpleasant. As a writer etc he's very talented.

Mrs Brown’s Boys is indeed the worst sitcom. I can’t believe anyone inTV production thought it was a good idea unless they really loved the terrible and offensive sitcoms of the 1970s (I suppose some people did love them, and they’re the target audience for Mrs Brown’s Boys).

It's pretty easy. People like different things. There's no "fact" about if something is good or bad, funny or not funny. I can't abide Mrs B but like JC. There's nothing to "understand" other than people have different tastes.

Mrs Brown's Boys is just awful.

It’s just a different sense of humour - I don’t like JC or MBB, but I find humour in things that friends who are fans of the two shows don’t.

Totally unfunny

Mrs brown's boys = unfunny, the tropes, 4th wall, and programme premise are tired and hackneyed.
James Corden = loses his shit at hospitality staff over and egg-white bloody omlette and thinks he's cracked america, but hasn't.

My husband is Irish and doesn't think MBB is funny at all. I have to agree with him, it's shite.

I agree with you OP, I love Gavin and Stacey and I have nothing against James Corden. Mrs Brown's Boys is not as good as it was in the early series but still watchable. The fact that both programmes got a spot on Christmas Day proves to me that they are popular and many people enjoy them. I always try to remember that views expressed on here are very different to those I hear in the real world. Mumsnet has many odd unofficial rules and not liking these things seems to be some of them.

I don’t understand the extreme hate for James Corden but I totally get it for Mrs Brown’s boys. It is cringeworthy shite to me, but I can at least see that it’s one of those divisive Marmite things and if people want to enjoy it where I don’t have to, good for them.

Mrs Browns Boys feels so cynical - like the BBC is going “see, it’s not all Have I Got News For You, we also do shows for thick people!”

JC is a volatile man who throws his weight around, intimidating others.

Can't stand either of them. Mrs Brown's Boys is cringeworthy, unfunny awful. One of the worst things I've ever seen. James Corden - apparently an awful person, byt I also just find him unfunny and very pleased with himself.

I really dislike Mrs Brown's Boys. I dislike that type of humour and it's never come across as even vaguely funny to me. To be fair, I also don't know anyone else who watches it or finds it funny. I ASU's e some people must else it wouldn't be in Tv.

I don't mind James Cordon. He's done some good stuff over the years.

Can't stand either. But comedy is subjective. What one finds funny another won't. There will be plenty I find funny others won't.

I used to really like this when it was first around but we are probably talking about 25-30 years ago, I guess. Not sure it'd work in the same way now, things move on. It was 100 times better than Mrs Brown's Boys has ever been imo though.
