How can people eat this much at Christmas

Mokel · 26/12/2024 21:30

I had a large plate of my Christmas dinner with Christmas pudding then 5 cheese biscuits with cheese.

I was absolutely stuffed.

Yet hear people who have a large Xmas dinner then go or host a Christmas Day evening buffet. Wouldn’t be able to eat at all.

Think my appetite has reduced

Why would anyone be proud that their son ate 15 roast potatoes, it’s hardly an achievement, and to openly encourage our children to over eat is not the way forward for a healthy and happy adult life.

It's not a daily thing, I don't encourage overeating but at Christmas there is generally more food around. We all thought it was quite amusing!
Don't worry @mainecooncatonahottinroof there were plenty for everyone else!

He's pretty lean and generally eats fairly healthily. He doesn't have a sweet tooth
He had about 8 roast potatoes at dinner, and then grazed on the rest throughout the afternoon/evening while other people were eating dessert/cheese/chocolate.

CrispieCake · 27/12/2024 00:10

Being fat/thin is not a moral failing.

Wasting roast potatoes is.

@mainecooncatonahottinroof I think that poster isn't good at comprehension. Mainecoons are cats obviously but 'coon' on its own is extremely offensive.

Maybe they thought your username is offensive because of the coon in it and were referring to
Maine the state? Fuck knows!

Well you answered my post to 'unfestive' as if it had been addressed to you, so....

I was pointing out the ridiculousness of your post.

I ate a large dinner then some cheesecake that was me done for the day, my dd 9 ate bacon sandwiches for breakfast loads of chocolates then her dinner followed by cheese cake then more chocolates then about 7 o'clock said am hungry can you make me some chicken and tomato pasta ate a full bowl she's not overweight just loves her food.
I think the rushing around for me puts me off eating and if someone else was doing the cooking I would probably of ate alot more through out the day/evening.

Mrsbloggz · 27/12/2024 00:33

I think there are lots of 'hangry' people on this thread! 🤷🏻‍♀

Also their taste buds are totally wrecked, they also have either dry mouths or excessive saliva, sore and receding gums and either few teeth or ill fitting dentures

Now Im no spring chicken being 60, but I cant abide salty food. So lets say Im doing gammon and sometimes its a tad salty - mum loves it, I cant swallow it and shes lapping it in her. Im going no one eat that if you dont like it - shes asking for seconds, yet she wont add condiments - because shes of the generation who didn't. So Im serving food that me and he likes, but she is probably finding pretty tasteless

Aye the boredom is a killer, shes become more seditanory these past few years ( AF, can barely walk the length of herself ) and its a long day in front of the tv, so her routine has been breakfast, mid morning cuppa and a biscuit, lunch being a sandwich, fruit, yoghurt and orange squash, afternoon cuppa and cake/biscuit, dinner, more cake, chocolate

Of course just sitting doesn't help with digestion so her worse nightmare is seeing a plate of food in front of her, so the serve yourself works ( Im actually the same, I couldn't eat from a piled plate but can eat for King and country if serving myself )

Funnily, I am a demon for adding salt - always have been! My late dad was never done chiding me for it and he's been dead 20 years. However, recently I've noticed some food that I haven't added salt to is too salty? Go figure?

How amazing though to still have your mum! x

I like you.

And I like you too! 🥰 Xxx

Tbf, you had a three course meal, and many people might not eat like that in one go. I certainly didn't you gluttonous OP.

DH on the other hand did, and ate and ate and then moaned after he had cheese, crackers and pickles because he had indigestion - I didn't judge him.

WhatIDoIsEnough · 27/12/2024 01:04

I seem to eat less Xmas day than normal. And I have a big appetite. I always over indulge regularly. But yesterday and today I've eaten much less than an average day.
Maybe it's because there's too much choice I get over whelmed?

livingafulllife · 27/12/2024 01:08

I live on noddles and eggs mainly.

DiscoBeat · 27/12/2024 01:09

You'll certainly get absolutely stuffed on here.

Over the past few years, I've actually lost weight over Christmas rather than put it on! I was also that weirdo who after giving birth, was lighter than I had been before I got pregnant - three times!

Teen boys are known for their ability to get through loaves of bread, roast potatoes are in the same field.

It’s youth / growth spurts / lots of activity / weed / whatever

Don’t be such a kill joy, it’s one day.

Unlike you, I haven't been unpleasant towards anyone or anything.

Unlike you, none of us have racist slurs in our usernames.

You're unhinged!!!!!!

so funny

Jumell · 27/12/2024 08:03

I was extremely full on Xmas Day.

All I had was - you guessed it -

A massive salad.

I feel secure in the knowledge that mine was a true MN Xmas

As you were.

LinnettdeBelleforte · 27/12/2024 08:58

What a pointless post. Competitive undereating is very boring.

I had a massive salad too. A turkey, potato, parsnip, red cabbage and sprout warm winter salad with a hot dressing.

greengreyblue · 27/12/2024 09:30

We had breakfast at 9 , canapés at 2, dinner at 5. If we had eaten dinner at 12 as some do, I’m sure we’d be up for a buffet in the evening. Some people skip breakfast. But obviously look around you and you’ll see many people are larger and there’s a reason for that op. 🤦🏼‍♀️

We did it, but other than some skinny undereaters most of them were not slim. This was even worse in the workplace (mostly female).
I think some people eat very little in company but overeat in private.
