How can people eat this much at Christmas

Mokel · 26/12/2024 21:30

I had a large plate of my Christmas dinner with Christmas pudding then 5 cheese biscuits with cheese.

I was absolutely stuffed.

Yet hear people who have a large Xmas dinner then go or host a Christmas Day evening buffet. Wouldn’t be able to eat at all.

Think my appetite has reduced

I struggle with Xmas dinner. I can snack all day but never eat a proper meal.

My Xmas dinner leftovers kept me in snacking until midnight 😋

Emanwenym · 28/12/2024 01:03

I'm the opposite. Prefer to be hungry at mealtimes.

Sleybels · 28/12/2024 01:04

That teen sounds like a legend. Well done on raising a teen that can eat 15 roast potatoes 😁 never mind the miserable disapproving ones.

Yes, I’m 5’ 7” and a size 8, I have a great figure and I’m happy in my skin. Some of the things people have said to me…
‘How on earth do you stay so slim?’ ‘Have you always been this skinny’? ‘I bet you don’t eat much’. ‘It’s alright for you, skinny bitch” … and the list goes on.
I wonder how they would feel if I said, ‘How on earth did you get so fat? ‘Have you always been this fat?’ ‘I bet you eats loads’. ‘It’s a shame you’re a fat bitch’.
Agreed, hypocrisy at its finest. And try finding size 8 classy fitted clothing these days, almost impossible, the discrimination on the clothing racks is beyond a joke for slim people. Loose fitted clothing geared towards overweight people.

“Discrimination” 🙄 wow some people just want to be victims sooo much. Fashion is far more inclusive of smaller sizes than plus sizes. That’s a fact.

And fat people get shamed and criticised all the time. I once lived with a large young woman who literally had people shouting abuse at her out of car windows and in the street. I even witnessed it once.

A friend of mine had a random woman scream “chubby” in her face. I’ve heard many stories of fat women (and even men) going out for runs and having men jeer at them and make negative comments about their size.

Those comments you refer to are by people who on the whole probably see skinny as a positive thing. So while they’re not things I’d say, they’re not meaning to be nasty. They probably think they’re complimenting you. I used to get it all the time when I was a size 6/8.

It’s very different from people have friends, mothers, MILs etc commenting with disgust on how much weight a woman has put on or random strangers all out abusing them.

I’ve been 8.5 stone and I’ve been 13 stone and people treated me far better at the lighter end of that scale.

What if he ate 15 rocket leaves?

How long did it take you to think up that retort? You would probably benefit from a few leaves of rocket each day, dark green leafy salad and veg contributes to good brain health, you might even be able to respond with a modicum of intelligence and give us something worth reading then.

How do you fit in Christmas pudding after a full plate of Christmas dinner?

I had a massive plate of Christmas dinner and then not one, but two, desserts! 🐷🐷

Admittedly I felt like a weeble until the next day! 😬🤣

BucketBouquet · 28/12/2024 15:15

You can see our posts were six minutes apart. See if that helps you answer your question…

You'd have both?

No wonder there's an obesity crisis...

I just inhale the steam from the three sprouts that the other 12 of us will share at Christmas dinner and I'm stuffed.

I'll have a carrot and a cranberry.
steamed not roasted.

actually my sister roasted the carrots, I would much have preferred plain steamed ones.

Emanwenym · 28/12/2024 15:45

@ThinWomansBrain , don't you have any idea how much sugar that is?

OliveLeader · 28/12/2024 15:57

You’re not going to believe this, but different people have different appetites, dietary requirements and calorific requirements from one another.

I know, I know. It’s the scoop of the century and nobody’s talking about it!

Honestly i never understand how people (not kids, but adults) care hungry for three meals a day

If i have a cooked lunch, ie a plated meal, i cant eat again that day- this goes for if we are out and have a burger, thats it for me i dont feel hungry again for about 24 hours

Ive always been the same, at school id refuse breakfast, eat a yoghurt for lunch and eat a big meal in the evening

I'm tall (so need more calories by default) and run every day with the dog. I eat (and need) 3 meals a day.

People have different metabolisms and appetites. Bizarrely! You don't need to 'understand' oh, the faux naivety, it just is.

Emanwenym · 28/12/2024 16:44

@STOPCOLLABERATEANDLISTEN19 , same here but I usually a large balanced meal at early lunchtime. What I eat is a big factor though.

I'm really short and I eat 3 meals a day (and snacks!! 🤣) I'd be so hungry if I only ate once a day.

But there's really not much to understand - not everyone eats the same 🤷‍♀️

GreyCarpet · 28/12/2024 17:59

I eat a normal sized diner for Christmas dinner and then nothing else. We always buy a pudding but it's usually out of date before we've eaten it.

I quite envy people who can eat loads! 😁 I sometimes feel I'm missing out but I just can't do it and then, by the 27th, I've no appetite for anything because there's been so much food.

We're hosting a bit of a party tonight and tbh, all I want to eat is salad 😕

You’re going way over the top. Of course I don’t think it’s the end of the world.

So why did you tell me to fuck off over it?

  1. Show me where I said that.
  2. Telling someone to fuck off doesn’t mean you think something is the end of the world.
TheHateIsNotGood · 28/12/2024 21:28

Some xmas dinners I've had seconds on the main meal before progressing; sometimes I've just eaten enough of most courses, sometimes I save it for another day.

Just made some super fabulous gravy, for feasts tomorrow.

I'm neither fat nor skinny.

A phrase containing “off” springs to mind for me too…

Disturbia81 · 28/12/2024 22:54

I used to be able to eat a lot more even as a kid, now the idea of a buffet on the same day as dinner is so overwhelming! We always had cakes and desserts too.
Think it changed in my 30s, just get full and stay full so easily now

What did you have in mind if not fuck off? You’re blatantly attempting to gaslight this person but you lack the subtlety to make it convincing.
