Why the fucking fuck have we had massive fireworks for the last twenty minutes on Christmas fucking day?!

Why? We have had solid bangs for the last twenty minutes - who the hell goes out on CHRISTMAS DAY at 4.30pm for fucking fireworks?

I'm at my mum's and will probably now have to spend boxing day in the emergency vet if it's similar at home, because my cats don't cope well with fireworks and I stupidly assumed Christmas day was not a day for fireworks displays.

Edit for time!

Just morons.

LammasEve · 25/12/2024 16:59

Because people are inconsiderate morons.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 25/12/2024 17:01

Fucking idiots, that’s who.

Okonomoyaki · 25/12/2024 17:01

The Age of Selfishness...

Every time this happens I almost ache remembering time spent in Asian countries - mainly Japan - where such behaviour is almost unconscionable.

Birdscratch · 25/12/2024 17:02

There were some going off here on Monday night. It’s just bizarre.

Edited because it sounded like I was the one setting them off!

AquaPeer · 25/12/2024 17:03

Because they like fireworks?

cuteyfluff · 25/12/2024 17:04

It's Chriiiiissssstmaaaaasssss

Overthebow · 25/12/2024 17:06

There hasn’t been anywhere, didn’t know it was a Christmas thing.

Birdscratch · 25/12/2024 17:07

I don’t remember Slade being associated with fireworks. All that polyester would’ve turned them into roman candles.

XxSideshowAuntSallyx · 25/12/2024 17:07

I hate fireworks, my cats hate them and hide under the bed petrified. One cat is currently awol and I'm worried about what will happen if she doesn't find her way home by New Year's eve (I'm out searching multiple times a day).

DepartingRadish · 25/12/2024 17:24

Twats.

We had them going off last night at about 1am.

hilariousnamehere · 25/12/2024 17:24

Thanks for letting me rant! @XxSideshowAuntSallyx I hope yours makes it home soon! They are such a worry when they go wandering!

Oh I'm so sorry, you must be very worried. Fingers crossed she's back ASAP.

"Let’s spend a fortune on fireworks for Christmas day - we haven't spent nearly enough money yet and the kids will love it! New Christmas tradition...make memories...blah blah de crap de blah."

Bogginsthe3rd · 25/12/2024 17:26

It's Christmas and time to be joyful. We always have house fireworks after Christmas dinner and love it! The louder the better to celebrate this time of year !

Glad you enjoy them. I don't. And neither do my terrified dogs. Thankfully my Mum is no longer alive because when she was still here, she was terrified by them. Trying to explain to someone with dementia that they aren't in danger is not a fun evening. So I don't derive any joy from them whatsoever.

TwilightCat · 25/12/2024 17:30

I’m crossing everything that they don’t start up here. We have a Labrador who turns into a shaking panting drooling mess and the only thing that will comfort him even remotely is to stand on top of me on the sofa (all 38kg of him while profusely drooling). This year we’ve bought sedative from the vet but it can only be applied after he is already petrified, apparently. And it goes off after a short while once opened and is ££££££ for the tube so I was hoping to use it for New Year’s. They are such crappy little fireworks too, but LOUD. Extremely loud.

TooManyChristmasCards · 25/12/2024 17:32

It's not uncommon on Christmas Day. Don't ask me why, I have no idea, but most years I can hear some.

Meandhimtogether · 25/12/2024 17:33

Just read on FB that a family are warning everyone that they will be setting off fireworks in memory of their son who died on Christmas day a few years ago.

Maybe there is a reason for the family in your area.

AtmosAtmos · 25/12/2024 17:37

I love fire works but there is a time and place. Absolutely not at Christmas. I would be in favour of law that there are organised displays only.

newlifenewyear · 25/12/2024 17:37

We had them last night and my dog immediately crapped herself and hasn't stopped. Apparently stress colitis is a thing. She has been really poorly today. It makes me so angry - how unbelievable and selfish it it and wholly unnecessary.

Everyone knows someone who has died. Most people sit around the Christmas table thinking, "I wish (grandma / great aunt Maud / my pet hamster I had when I was 10) was here to see this. They'd love it."

They just choose not to be dicks making a loud racket about it.

Cakeandusername · 25/12/2024 17:40

Asian Wedding? Christmas Day can be a wedding day as people are off work.
