Why the fucking fuck have we had massive fireworks for the last twenty minutes on Christmas fucking day?!

Why? We have had solid bangs for the last twenty minutes - who the hell goes out on CHRISTMAS DAY at 4.30pm for fucking fireworks?

I'm at my mum's and will probably now have to spend boxing day in the emergency vet if it's similar at home, because my cats don't cope well with fireworks and I stupidly assumed Christmas day was not a day for fireworks displays.

Edit for time!

That’s weird. I heard fireworks at that time too. Wonder if you’re near me!

Doingtheboxerbeat · 25/12/2024 22:15

@AquaPeer @Bogginsthe3rd @Meandhimtogether @Cakeandusername and the rest

Should we be setting them off every day then, since there's an anniversary of someone's death even a childs 🥺 somewhere, and there's a celebration of various religious festivals somewhere ,every day?
I know I probably sound facetious with this question, but truly - where do we draw the line?
I'm not saying we should prioritise 5th November, NYE , 4th July , Diwali etc but outside of recognised celebrations , it all seems like something really entitled people do 😕 oh and drug dealers.

Seems fairly obvious they are referring to a child, not sure everyone has lost their son in childhood, but hey, as long as they don’t disturb you 😏

I lost a child, too, as it happens.

I don't wish or expect anyone else to share in, or be disrupted by my grief.

daffodilandtulip · 25/12/2024 22:49

We had loads at 11pm and 2am last night / this morning. So fucking selfish.

whatcanthematterbe81 · 25/12/2024 23:00

Crikey

AllesAusLiebe · 25/12/2024 23:02

Also, can I ask the idiots on here who don't see any issue with Christmas becoming yet another key date in the "fireworks season" - do you expect to pay for further fire and police services today? Are you happy with the idea that more emergency services workers will need to be available on the rota instead of spending time with their families?

That's what will be required.

Some people like fireworks, some people don't. The people who don't like them always seem to imagine that their dislike should be prioritised by people who don't know them and don't share their perspective. Not sure why

Edited

I like fireworks, but I recognise that there are issues associated with them. Therefore I am in favour of requiring licences for their sale and use. A professional display is far better than Fred launching a few rockets in his back garden anyway.

Veterans? Not sure there are many left who faced active combat in the Second World War. Not sure someone’s else’s cats stress related cystitis would even occur to me

Since 1945 there have only been two years when no British servicemen lost their lives in campaigns: 1968 and 2016. There are an awful lot of Falklands, Iraq and Afghanistan veterans around.

TheaBrandt · 26/12/2024 00:14

Yes I know that 🙄🙄🙄but the numbers who have seen active service must be extremely small. None of the military people I know are remotely bothered by fireworks.

For your invaluable contribution to qualitative research in this field, I'd like to offer you my heartfelt thanks.

Sterling job. 🙌

It’s Hanukkah today I believe and fireworks are common I think.

Glad you enjoy them. I don't. And neither do my terrified dogs. Thankfully my Mum is no longer alive because when she was still here, she was terrified by them. Trying to explain to someone with dementia that they aren't in danger is not a fun evening. So I don't derive any joy from them whatsoever.

Never known fireworks to be let off at Christmas here, it's ridiculous stupid and down right bloody selfish. Thinking of those with pets. Hooe it don't catch on here,

There's a likely explanation but I won't give it here.
