Caught ringworm from someone’s cat, should I post to Facebook

I’m not sure what I want from this.
There are cats that come and shit in my garden every morning before I can catch them. I sometimes see them in the evening and shoo them away.
I know it isn’t the time of year for gardening but a few weeks ago I moved some shrubs around as they looked better in another place and I was mindful to not touch any cat shit or go near it.
I have now developed ring worm and it’s spread everywhere. I am covered in it, it’s itchy and painful.
I was advised that it’s contracted by animals, I don’t share towels or anything like that and it’s the only way I could’ve caught it.
I’ve finally got cream for it just today but I have a weak immune system and skin conditions already so I don’t what luck I’ll have

If it was a few weeks ago you were moving shrubs it's obviously not from that and from something more recent.

Ringworm glows under UV light, as I discovered in a club at uni. So you can check it’s definitely ringworm. And it’s just treated topically with a cream.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 24/12/2024 23:10

I mean I know none of this is real, but in the interests of factual accuracy:

You don't catch ringworm from digging in a garden cats have pooed in. You don't catch it from poo. You catch it from skin contact (it is not a worm but a fungal rash)

It doesn't spread quickly, it wouldn't spread all over you, and it is easily treated with antifungal ointment.

Merry xmas OP to you and your new worm housemates.

INeedAnotherName · 24/12/2024 23:11

My DD caught ringworm during lambing season once. All she had to do was use special cream, nothing about scalding showers or boiling sheets or it rampaging over the rest of her body. Are you sure that is ringworm? And did you buy a leg of lamb instead of turkey for Christmas? 🙀

KitsyWitsy · 24/12/2024 23:11

I had ringworm once. It didn’t look like that.

I hate cats!!!

I don't suppose they speak highly of you either.

TimeForATerf · 24/12/2024 23:13

highly Unlikely you caught ringworm from cats either passing through or shitting in your garden.

you can get it from contact with people as well as animals and since you’re unlikely to be cuddling a cat I would question whose company you’re keeping.

Hskatkat · 24/12/2024 23:13

This seems appropriate Help yourself

What part isn’t real?
I was never going to post to Facebook non-anonymously. And I wasn’t sure about doing it at all.
I’m just pissed off. And I’m having a moan.
I started the thread because I’m pissed off that I’ve realised I’ve caught a highly contagious infection and need to disinfect everything. Can’t I complain about that?
I’ve had it for weeks because I thought it was eczema at first. its even on my back now.
I’ll be trying an Antifungal body wash as well.

Did they try to eat you last time?

Perhaps she’s just worried about what they’ll post on Facebook (catbook?) about her..,

Yeah, that's not ringworm @catphone

vodkaredbullgirl · 24/12/2024 23:16

Don't think I would want to announce to the world, let alone Facebook.

haje · 24/12/2024 23:17

That's not ringworm. That might be eczema.

Jifmicroliquid · 24/12/2024 23:17

I don’t think that’s ringworm OP. There’s only one photo that I think looks vaguely like it.

changecandles · 24/12/2024 23:17

OP you have ringworm. You have no idea where you caught it from. Your hatred of cats has you deciding it's categorically from them.
It's very unlikely.

Wolfiefan · 24/12/2024 23:19

You don’t need to disinfect anything. Has a doctor diagnosed ringworm? Just do what they recommended.

TheWildZebra · 24/12/2024 23:19

Unless you’ve been touching a cat, you won’t have caught it from the cat. Ringworm is not transmitted through shit - it is a skin condition. It can stay on surfaces up to 2 years so it’s possible you’ve caught it elsewhere (public transport?) and it’s happenstance it was at the same time you were clearing your garden?

doodoodahdah · 24/12/2024 23:20

If it's really itchy, are you sure it's not scabies??

catphone · 24/12/2024 23:20

The GP said it’s a fungal infection because it’s itchy.
I’m not sure what it is. if it’s not ringworm then it’s hard to tell what it is. It might be eczema after all. I’ll have to wait and see.
maybe I shouldn’t have been so confident about what caused it, but I’m sick of cats too.

I believe they're more interested in tweeting.

gamerchick · 24/12/2024 23:21

What do you mean it's everywhere? Are you sure it's ringworm?

Wolfiefan · 24/12/2024 23:23

So what did the GP prescribe.
