Ours is open until 7pm, South London.

Here is the famous Dublin M&S story from twitter

I’ve just come back from an M&S Food store in south London. Nothing discounted (2pm) apart from the sandwiches and lunch salads :/

There was a brilliant Reddit post a while ago about a lad who got a Christmas temp job at M&S. All the staff told him to hang on until closing on Xmas Eve and he would pick up real bargains. He waited and then ran round the store after closing and got the entire family Christmas dinner for about 5 quid.

Here you go (hope the link works).

We have similar plans.

We are playing cheese roulette. We have no cheese in. We need cheese.

Bloody hell that's a risk I absolutely would not be willing to take!

Avoid forming part of a rampaging mob desperate to get cheap food by simply not stuffing yourself with excessive amounts over Christmas.

This sounds like something from Viz. 🤣

RedToothBrush · 24/12/2024 14:46

Can confirm yellow label heaven NOW.

Tangerinenets · 24/12/2024 14:48

Didn’t go to Marks but got some great bargains in House of Fraser. A Jack Wills dress for my daughter £59.99 down to £13.99. A JW top in think was £39.99 down to £8.

worcesterpear · 24/12/2024 14:51

I guess you have to time it just right now. Years ago, we often used to go shopping on Christmas eve just before shops shut at 4pm and got many bargains, but it seems to be getting more difficult. We went to M&S today and I did get a gingerbread cheesecake for half price, some of the profiteroles were also reduced, but most things were still full price. It turns out they are open till 7pm, so 6pm would probably be a good time to go but you can't be sure. What if they reduce things in dribs and drabs?

AllstarFacilier · 24/12/2024 14:52

I can’t be bothered going out but I’m looking forward to seeing what people pick up. There’s still bags left on the Too Good to Go app near me, but I don’t need anything.

Nomorecoconutboosts · 24/12/2024 14:53

I’m getting an M&S good to go bag later collect between 1 and 6
We are out that way anyway!
they’ve never let me down. Easter weekend we had an immense one probably still got stuff in the freezer!
Christmas love and greetings to whoever reminded me earlier in the thread.

Nomorecoconutboosts · 24/12/2024 14:53

I’ll post the details later,
if I don’t post it was either rubbish or I’ve had too much fizzy wine!

9 foot tree from the stall at Brockwell park for £20!

Was that the rather lovely one that wasn't too wide and lovely and even that was in one of the stands by the fence? If so I admired it yesterday as I walked past.

Ariela · 24/12/2024 14:57

My bargain last year was reduced to19p then cut to 9p large bags of clementines from Waitrose, admittedly was a faff doing the zest for the marmalade but I made
Clementine & ginger mousse
Clemintine & ginger marmalade
Clementine & Cointreau marmalade
Clementine tiramissu
Clementine and lamb tagine
Clementine drizzle cake

Still got jars of marmalade to eat but thankfully no clementines left in the freezer

MichaelandKirk · 24/12/2024 15:00

if you are going to do this please don’t leave it 10 mins before closing time or start berating the staff if you cannot get what you want.

No one will admit to doing this but it’s rife.

Husbandrippedmeoff · 24/12/2024 14:11

Oh no!

My visiting Dsis just came back from Marks and Waitrose, saying a lot of things were finished in one or the other. Ice cream, Brie, among others.

Nerdlings · 24/12/2024 15:01

I do think you're a bit late. I've just been to M&S and 2 other supermarkets and all of their heavily discounted food is already out and disappearing fast (hence me going to 2 other supermarkets.
In M&S most of the discounted meat and seafood was gone

RareMaker · 24/12/2024 15:04

I got deserts for 90p, dips 40p, and a chicken breast roaster for 1.87 (from £8!)

sloecat · 24/12/2024 15:04

Bargains all snapped up this morning in my M&S. Plenty of cheese left as none of it was being discounted.

C152 · 24/12/2024 15:05

I went a few hours ago and although there were plenty of turkeys left, all the other special Christmas food had sold out. Nothing was on sale except sandwiches.

jamimmi · 24/12/2024 15:06

Just got a while salmon in Sainsbury's for 1.50 , should have been 20 plus . Chopped up ans frozen for January!

It was indeed! Bloke in kilt was very keen to get rid of it and even threw in a free wreath! Children (well, young adults) are decorating it now!

Bloodybrambles · 24/12/2024 15:06

I love yellow stickers.

I’ve been to:

  • two different Sainsbury’s
  • small asda
  • m&s
  • co-op

All a couple of hours ago on the hunt for last minute gifts (seeing a couple of people I wasn’t expecting to see). Co-op was the best with literally doing final reductions at noon but whilst they had piles of food nothing worth writing home about (Ginsters slices/sandwiches etc). M&S just seemed like any other day but much busier, no reduced meat etc, left empty handed. Sainsburys had a few reductions, but again, normal reduction on normal things (hummus reduced from £1.85 to £1.11 etc).

I was hoping for some flowers but they all looked somewhat past their best and overpriced. Maybe things had been reduced earlier on in the day and only the beaten up display to 27th were left.

viques · 24/12/2024 15:08

Good luck bargain hunters, no good me going, there is only just enough room in my freezer to squeeze in a tray or two of ice cubes.
