A large hotel local-ish to us (around 10 miles away) is currently closed for bookings as it is being occupied by just under 400 asylum seekers.

Recently, in our village and a couple of neighbouring ones, there has been a spate of parcels being stolen from doorsteps. I’m sure you can all work out who has taken the blame for this….! Even though one of the perpetrators is known to be a local lad, born and bred in our village, some people are still blaming others..

The comments on Facebook community groups are disgusting.

Since when has it been acceptable to so readily stick the blame upon those literally fleeing their countries?

I honestly feel that as a human race, we are devolving.

I never said British men don't harm women, whatever gave you that idea? I have said though that it's mostly men who are a threat to women, would you not agree with that? So do you not think importing tens of thousands of extra men doesn't increase that risk?
Also, I wasn't born in the UK.
Sadly you lack empathy and understanding for the needless victims of migrant sexual violence.
Unkind beliefs? I'm just believing the facts that have been presented to me, feel free to continue to falsely believe that all these tens of thousands of migrant men pose no threat to women and girls.
And I've never bought into or ever said 'Be Kind ' in my life, I believe its used to try to shut people down actually.

Poetnojo · 02/01/2025 22:52

Also, if you think nobody would want to associate with anyone with 'unkind' beliefs, would that extend to people who unkindly believe women should be treated as lesser than men, with no rights? Nobody should want to associate with anyone with those kind of beliefs no? Or do you reserve your distain for anyone who feels women and girls safety shouldn't be sacrificed to allow these men flood across Europe?

TENSsion · 03/01/2025 05:50

Jellytrain · 02/01/2025 22:29

Well plenty of British men do this, what's your point? You sadly lack empathy and understanding for others and cannot appreciate what great fortune you have had being born in the UK. How can anyone associate with people like you who have your awful unkind beliefs? I bet you have "be kind" as your bio!!

We already have lots of men who rape so let’s allow thousands of undocumented, unemployed men into the country.

That’s your argument?

That we already have a male violence problem so let’s just keep adding to it?

“We already have rapists. What’s a few thousand more going to hurt?”

Christ.

You think anyone wants to work in the black economy? Really? Do you?

No i don't suppose they do but the point is they can and with the close nit communities they will be living in, there will be the opportunity to take on new identities to gain health treatments.
Even if caught, what exactly happens? we are hardly going to refuse healthcare or dental treatments, treatments the rest of the population either cannot get or have to pay for... you think thats sustainable?

The point is that with no papers, no or few returns agreements, these failed asylum seekers cannot be sent back to anywhere, so eventually, they will get permission to stay here, even if by default.

Yet another one who believes the RW papers and all the vitriol they spew out. Asylum seekers do not languish in warm hotels with 3 meals a day. The conditions they are kept in I wouldn’t keep an animal in and as for meals, whoever provides them should be arrested. Please do your research properly before making yourself look even more incredibly stupid.

What a load of shit. I’ve been in these hotels, they ARE warm and fed. Ok so maybe the food isn’t exactly M&S finest but it’s food - it’s more than the British homeless get that are sleeping in the doorways of the shops opposite these hotels.

plus - if it’s that bad, they could always just go home. I’m sure our own homeless and hungry would be happy to take their place.

I take it you don't live anywhere near an asylum seekers hotel? I do. It's a now decommissioned 4 star hotel in the centre of a very popular cathedral city. Beautiful Victorian building. As far from squalid as you can get. You're entirely ignorant to the reality. For those of us who DO witness the reality, I'll give you an little extra insight - on the way to this gorgeous hotel, you'll walk past the train station where rough sleepers are " housed" in shop doorways with cardboard for a mattress, carrier bags for their possessions and cold sandwiches for their meals. Now THAT'S squalid and not fit for animals.

Different accommodation for asylum seekers versus homeless

Sorry? My point is, there is NO accommodation for the homeless unless you consider a pavement and cardboard box as thus. Yet, five minutes walk away it's a very different story, but the pp still has the audacity to decry 4 star asylum accommodation as " unfit for human habitation". It would be laughable if it wasn't the truth up and down the country.

Hunglikeapolevaulter · 03/01/2025 17:20

Yes and the Bibby Stockholm wasn't good enough either, even though it had previously been good enough for construction workers.

Construction workers had a room to themselves, asylum seekers were 3/4 to a room.
The workers were also being paid a great deal of money and would only be on the ship for short periods at a time & went out to work.

They also didn't get Legionella either.

We left the EU, have no say on their border/migrant policies and as i said on here many times, the flow of migrants to the UK will increase if we leave and so it has proven to be so.

I do, they all seem.lovely, kids sometimes playing in the grounds, no drunken behaviour, lovely families. Genuinely.

Jellytrain · 04/01/2025 08:14

But it's true they obviously don't have the hotel to lovely standards, it's hardly luxurious

Yeah...dead easy, you go and bob back to Afghanistan then, see how you get on. Very silly comments.

Why would I “Bob” “back” to Afghanistan? I’ve never been there. I’m British.
if however I “bobbed” to a different country and was offended by the free food and accommodation I was offered … I’d certainly “bob” back to my country of origin.

The one near me has lovely standards.

Why wouldn't it? Until recently, it was a popular, high end hotel in a nice area.

There certainly aren't any families playing in the grounds. On account of every single occupant being a young man.

Of course this is just one. No doubt they differ around the country. But it's certainly not RW vitriol to describe this very pleasant accommodation as warm and comfortable.

Except it’s not being used as a hotel right now. There are none of the facilities or services that you’d usually associate with a hotel. It’s just a building which was a hotel.

Yeah - and if they could turn a hotel like this into basic accommodation for foreign nationals why couldn’t they do that for the local homeless?
