I have some Christmas presents needing to be wrapped. My DH has not wrapped presents before. I just heard him in the bedroom with the wrapping paper and tape.

Hes wrapped my mums Christmas present so badly I’ve I’ve had to rip the paper off and throw it away. I’m so annoyed as there wasn’t much Christmas wrapping paper left and I was planning on wrapping them neatly.

Just had to have a vent! He’s now annoyed at my becuase I got annoyed at him!

How has he not wrapped presents before?

CherryBlossomPants · 17/12/2024 21:24

It’s wrapping paper that’s going to ripped off anyway. No one cares if it’s wrapped “properly”. I’d also be annoyed if I was your husband.

MerryChristmasYaFilthyBrusselSprout · 17/12/2024 21:24

He’s done that so he doesn’t ever have to do it again. I don’t believe a grown man can’t wrap a present.

CatamaranViper · 17/12/2024 21:25

On the one hand, you can't expect someone who has never done something to do it perfectly first time. On the other, even my 7 year old had wrapped presents before....

Screamingabdabz · 17/12/2024 21:25

Weaponised incompetence. Clever. He has achieved what he wanted and that was for you to do it in the first place.

Leeds2 · 17/12/2024 21:26

He won't learn without practice, surely? Couldn't you have just had a laugh (kindly) with your mum about it?

Cheesyfootballs01 · 17/12/2024 21:26

Wrap your own presents?

Getting annoyed because someone’s not good at wrapping presents is pretty stupid…. the paper gets ripped off anyway 🤷🏻‍♀️

ExtraOnions · 17/12/2024 21:27

I would have just left them badly wrapped .. it’s funny

Ethylred · 17/12/2024 21:27

You chose to throw the paper away and you chose to be angry. Merry Christmas.

Jeeeeez · 17/12/2024 21:28

How badly were they actually wrapped?

DappledThings · 17/12/2024 21:29

I bet it wasn't that bad. I'm not particularly good at wrapping and I don't see that it matters

Hankunamatata · 17/12/2024 21:29

Dh buys bags. He hates wrapping

Hurdlin · 17/12/2024 21:29

How can a person reach adulthood without ever having wrapped a present?

Popolinar · 17/12/2024 21:30

How has he got to adulthood and never wrapped a present?

Oreyt · 17/12/2024 21:30

I'd have just done it myself.

PeloMom · 17/12/2024 21:31

I’m a grown woman who’s wrapped quite a bit of presents and still really bad at it. Not everyone is perfect at everything. I don’t see it as a big deal- the paper gets ripped and goes in the bin anyway; not going to sweat it

Jeeeeez · 17/12/2024 21:33

I’m shit at wrapping presents and overuse the sellotape. No one seems to care.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 17/12/2024 21:34

I changed my vote, because the most important point is how has he never wrapped a present before unless he comes from a family of gift baggers 🤔.

Oreyt · 17/12/2024 21:35

My husband has never wrapped before. I think he used to give his mum money instead of a present and then I came along and have done it.

Same. I'm shit at it. It doesn’t matter. It'll be ripped off and doesn’t have to be insta-ready.

Hobbesmanc · 17/12/2024 21:36

Honestly I've wrapped presents for years and they still look crap. I'm just not very dexterous. My handwriting is also awful and I'm awful,at anything that needs a neat hand. Painting etc. just leave them. No one has ever moaned at my wrapping

DoWhatIDo · 17/12/2024 21:37

Get a grip. In the nicest possible way.

There are far more worrying, disturbing, scary and stressful things than the way someone has wrapped a present. Fucks sake 🙄

Get over it .

Hercisback1 · 17/12/2024 21:38

Really?
It gets binned anyway.

KnigCnut · 17/12/2024 21:38

Nah, I am of the view that as long as it is covered, the rest is a bonus. He tried to help you, now you don't like his version of help.

DoWhatIDo · 17/12/2024 21:38

And genuinely.. who actually cares ? Re- wrap. If that’s the issue - just do it yourself.
