Outdoor flashing Christmas lights are obnoxious & tacky

One of my neighbours has recently moved in and has just put up the most hideous Christmas lights, red and yellow then flashing to blue and white, with aggressive unpleasant flashing back and forth. Fortunately they are on the same side of the road as I am so I barely see them, I see the lovely lights on the other side of the road that don't look like a tacky flashing casino. Is it just me or does anyone else dislike these lights?

I actually hate driving down my road to my house because of all the tacky lights. It's like each must outdo the last. Especially the blue flashing ones which make you think there must be an ambulance.

Christmas is not really a time for taste.

These threads make me want to put up the tackiest lights I can find.

I don't like the blue or bright white ones because they just say "police" but otherwise, bring on the tacky festivities - I am all for them!

This reminds me of a radio phone in when I was on honeymoon in NZ in 2003. They were bemoaning 'tacky flashy Xmas lights'.

Every house beside me is like a knocking shop !! It's like a crime scene with the blue crap flashing constantly !! I swear every one of them were drunk putting up their lights. I miss my very old neighbours who had lovely festive lights, twinkling nicely, not sure what or who thought blue lights were Christmassy.

Yanbu. Flashing lights and blue lights almost always look awful. People just plonk on any old combination.

Give me some multi coloured lights in a shrub or white icicles any day.

As long as they turn the lights off after about 10pm it wouldn't really bother me. But I guess If they were glaring right into my windows it wouldn't be great. I do find Xmas decs outside people's homes tacky in general, but they don't usually do any active harm. I just wouldn't do it myself.

I love lights and a bit of gaudiness but not really blindingly bright, fast flashing ones due to epilepsy. I wish people would put them on a slow sequence

In terms of taste I don't think blue looks very festive personally

I hate the blue ones - seen too many tv dramas where the horror is shown by blue lights bouncing off the walls of a house.

I love Christmas lights, I go out often in the evening in December and walk around and look at the houses that have put up new lights. My favourites are warm white, but I also like the coloured ones. It's just the flashing Vegas I don't like. But I hear what some of you are saying, I will try to lighten up. 😁

Our tree lights are actually blue and we have it in the window. I do prefer warm white lights and one year may actually get round to replacing them, but the fact they say "Police" at this time of year may not be a bad thing?

We've never been burgled, so 😂
