To wonder why nobody has wild lives on an anonymous forum?

Warning: overseas and have drank a few glasses of rose’

This is an anonymous forum, nobody knows who you are you can even name change…

Why do we rarely see truly shameful or wild
confessions on here ?

Its always threads something like, ‘I googled my ex boyfriend and fantasised over his executive lifestyle, is this considered cheating ?’

Or ‘my husband doesn’t contribute to bills and I have a credit card debt that I used for paying them. Am I a terrible human and wife ?’

‘I drink 2.5 glasses of wine a night and have 3
Children under 6 and a cheating husband that thinks it’s my problem to care for them. How will I beg him to forgive me for being a terrible wife and alcoholic’

Theres no posts that say ‘I hooked up with my wealthy neighbour who lives in an Edwardian pile and I have no regrets, should I ? ’

’my Husband and I went swinging and I liked it..’

’I’ve been cheating on my my husband with my Spanish neihjnour’

Is everyone on MN a saint ?

I am basically asking why nobody ever confesses or is truly raw & honest about anything

Donotgogentle · 06/12/2024 17:50

We’re all too tired.

soupfiend · 06/12/2024 17:50

I only wash my bedding on a full moon.

Shameless

EmeraldRoulette · 06/12/2024 17:50

I guess anyone living a wild life won't be on here.

Planits · 06/12/2024 17:51

I do see the occasional thread about someone who has cheated or knowingly had an affair with a married man… it never ends well for those posters.

I have a criminal record 👀

CatDays · 06/12/2024 17:52

No one wants the pile on.

secretsandshys · 06/12/2024 17:52

Well I had an affair, confessed to me husband who forgave me and we're very happy now.

If I'd posted back then it would have caused much drama and mud slinging.

Or I could have just lied about that Wink

MrsDoylesLastTeabag · 06/12/2024 17:52

Because you'd immediately be diagnosed as ND/ narcissistic/ borderline/ an addict or "really a man".

CrispyCrumpets · 06/12/2024 17:55

Too many humourless prudes and people waiting to rip anyone a new one for any deviation from perfect thoughts and behaviour.

ChaosHol1 · 06/12/2024 17:55

I reckon since the paper have started lifting stories people have been a bit more wary of what they post. If it was a truly scandalous thing and it ended up lifted by a newspaper there's a risk those who know you would read it and know it was you. Also, there may well be stuff posted but it's deleted as people think it's a troll and mumsnet often deletes things to protect ops identity in real life.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 06/12/2024 17:55

Because enough people make stuff up for shits and giggles in here without needing any encouragement

sinckersnack · 06/12/2024 17:57

When I was living a wild life there really was no time!! Now, slumped on the sofa, knackered, in front of Pointless - I'm on here.... but with nothing to write about.

BobbyBiscuits · 06/12/2024 17:59

You're more likely to see people moaning or venting about others perceived bad behaviour. It's not like someone's going to start a thread saying ' I just axe murdered my entire family and it felt great. AIBU?'
Most people don't even want to admit to failing to launder their bedding once a fortnight. 🤣🤣🤣

MistressoftheDarkSide · 06/12/2024 17:59

Heh, Mumsnet is my new substitute for a formerly wild life.

Confessions:

Live performance in fetish clubs involving suspension and wearing lots of corsets (after the age of 42 I may add).

Low level drug experimentation.

A foray into threesomes.

Ouija board use.

Low level activism.

Ah those were the days - before the demise of my much missed DP and the risk of putting my back out became too great.

One memorable live performance I France saw me scantily clad as a Japanese ghost standing on a replica of Ground Zero on the anniversary if 9/11 as part of an anti-capitalist art piece.

I do intend to grow old disgracefully when some of my current responsibilities ease off.

I have no regrets.

MumOfOneAllAlone · 06/12/2024 18:00

Well, here is mine

I had a tough time at the hands of men. So I never had a relationship or really much consensual sex

It’s not a sad story because now I’m on a weight loss journey

Once I reach my target weight, I plan to whore it around whenever I’m free 🤭🤭🤭

I’m talking as many men as I can find, tall, muscular, handsome and hung!!!

im so inexperienced, I want all the fun sex stories

so that’s me, confessing all to online strangers 😄 x

SereneCapybara · 06/12/2024 18:01

I think loads of people on here have wild lives on anonymous forums. Just...if I wanted to discuss the wildest side of my life, I wouldn't head for a forum called Mumsnet.

B0RING · 06/12/2024 18:02

Because I CBA to provide fodder for lazy tabloid journalists.

AltitudeCheck · 06/12/2024 18:02

Because people who are busy having hot sex with the posh totty next door/ swinging from the chandeliers / being Josés ho.... probably don't give a toss what random MN people think!

Although if you pop over to the sex topic you will find some 3somes and swingers, if that's your thing @Lavenderfarmcottage 😉

im so curious but don’t want to ask

howsthehair · 06/12/2024 18:07

Because it's mumsnet. There are plenty of websites where people do confess wild stuff. This isn't the site for it. Unless you're on the sex board I guess.

schtompy · 06/12/2024 18:09

Cos those people don’t need mn in their life..they have a life and are living it 😂

AloneLike · 06/12/2024 18:09

People have wild lives are out having wild lives, not sitting on the sofa Mumsnetting.

Gingernaut · 06/12/2024 18:09

Because the 'wild' people are probably the ones we all cross the road to avoid any way

Posting about themselves on MN would be very outing

dontcryformeargentina · 06/12/2024 18:11

CatDays · 06/12/2024 17:52

No one wants the pile on.

Exactly. The vitriol you will get from hypocrite pearl clutchers and wannabe vigilantes! Who needs that ..
