To wonder why nobody has wild lives on an anonymous forum?

This is an anonymous forum, nobody knows who you are you can even name change…

Why do we rarely see truly shameful or wild
confessions on here ?

Its always threads something like, ‘I googled my ex boyfriend and fantasised over his executive lifestyle, is this considered cheating ?’

Or ‘my husband doesn’t contribute to bills and I have a credit card debt that I used for paying them. Am I a terrible human and wife ?’

‘I drink 2.5 glasses of wine a night and have 3
Children under 6 and a cheating husband that thinks it’s my problem to care for them. How will I beg him to forgive me for being a terrible wife and alcoholic’

Theres no posts that say ‘I hooked up with my wealthy neighbour who lives in an Edwardian pile and I have no regrets, should I ? ’

’my Husband and I went swinging and I liked it..’

’I’ve been cheating on my my husband with my Spanish neihjnour’

That's about as lurid as my life gets!

It gets you reported as a troll or bot and threads/posts get deleted. People used to come up with some wild posts and threads but that has stopped because of troll hunters.

Also, it's a really huge forum and people might know or suspect there are friends/family members on here who'd twig. I have a sibling who recognised me from the context of my posts! So I might be a bit chary if I had any scandal to share 😆

Because we're too fucking tired from performing tedious, mundane tasks to bring the drama you seem to want to be entertained by. Go read a book.

Because you are crucified on here for confessing to having raised your voice at your child when they deliberately burned down the house, or dropping some litter on a main road by accident and not picking it up, or going out with chipped nail polish.

If you want confessions, I split with my DP and was in someone else's bed a few days later. DP had no sex drive and I had spent years feeling undesirable and unfilfilled! No regrets.

When a different, very abusive ex was in hospital I cheated. She was absolutely awful to me and we hadn't had sex in about a year. I knew we were basically over. I drove for about three hours to get a shag, basically. That's probably one of the most terrible things I've done really.

I am a very loving, loyal person generally but once severe abuse, especially repeated, comes into it I do not believe anyone owes anyone anything.

I ghosted someone for being too full-on. I didn't want the aftermath and me probably ending up being persuaded to stick at it.

I am an exhibitionist and have done several jobs that support that side of me.

I am sure there are more. Will they do for now?

I use Reddit for seeking advice about juicier subjects. Feels more anonymous

because when they do they either get considered a troll and the thread gets pulled, or people think its not true and the tread gets pulled, personally their should be no deleting threads

Yep...although I'll take the opportunity to confirm I only change sheets when they smell, I sometimes pick my nose and I accidentally didn't pay for an eyeliner in boots the other day and didn't really feel bad about it because I hate the stupid machines.

There are things I wouldn’t admit to even on an anonymous forum because I know it would only get me hate, which I don’t enjoy even if nobody knows who I am.

Well because mumsnet will judge you for a thimble of wine more than once a week as they say. 😇 Anything out of the ordinary or ‘wild’ is seen as someone being reckless, a terrible person, probably should not be allowed to parent, and ‘cross the road’ type comments like one earlier in this thread.

Why bother sharing something wild? I’ve done things that would make your eyes pop but i’m not about to go blathering about them here as i’ll only be called a liar, attention seeking or a weirdo.

Its just not the place for it.

Because people who are genuinely living exciting lives don't go near social media. They are living instead of being obsessed with telling everybody they are living.

What I like about the collapse of Twitter and Facebook, and the embrace of micro social media by Gen Z and Gen A, is the return to localized and meaningful interaction. You shared a picture of you and your dog and ten of your close friends commented is better than posting endless self-photos and waiting for comments.

And dating.
Gen Z and Gen A is going back to analogue, meeting people and seeing how that goes, as opposed to the hell of algorithm dating that dominated late Gen X and all Millenials.

We all come on some sites to read about the five year old that is baking amazing cakes so must be the next Nigella.
Or the three year old that knows how animals sound.
Or the MIL that has shit herself over both of these.

But mostly it is a mild diversion from real life, which is always more interesting to ourselves than anyone else.

With flaps like these, who needs enmity..?
