The group is now live! Some people's settings didn't allow me to join them automatically but I've sent an invite. Feel free to adjust the name/description/photo etc, I've just put a Christmassy spoon one on for now.

I think i've added everyone who has pm'd but happy to add anyone else. Can someone add @TealPoet and @Malbecfan ? I don't have their numbers but I'm pretty sure they said they wanted to join. And @BeNavyCrab ? And anyone else (sorry, mind like a sieve but I don't want to miss anyone out).

Munchyseeds2 · 20/12/2024 13:17

@Imbluedalale
Trust me.

A real mouse will get in your shed and set up home and have lots more mice....they only need a hole the width of a pencil
Don't keep anything in there they can chew through xx

Hi @Cuneburnal , I’ve just read your post and it’s brought a tear to my eye. Thank you so much for reading my threads and posting on here. That’s so lovely, thank you 🙏
Im so sorry to hear that you had a breakdown , sending you big hugs lovely.
I totally get people fading away from your life when you are struggling, that’s something I’ll never understand but what I read whilst I was at the crisis house was this ‘’the ones that mind don’t matter and the ones that matter don’t mind’ and it’s really stuck with me. I’m slowly getting the mindset that if you don’t want to know me when things are bad then you don’t deserve to know me when things are good. Oh I think I may be getting a little bit of a backbone.
I feel so proud of you and your new mindset. You go girl ❤️.
Im excited to hear more about your son’s wedding, what are you wearing?
Oh I think the women of the year are all you lovely spoonies, you all saved me and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. Ok now im crying.
I love that you have an Ocado spoon, they are brill aren’t they. Welcome to the spoonies lovely I’ll raise my spoon in honour xx

You are so understanding and inspire such optimism. I think we've turned a corner together. As mother of the groom felt obliged to browse in some posh shops for outfits. Naddah. Went back to where I always shop - wedding/holiday wardrobe sorted effortlessly. Dress is midi length, cream with delicate florals, flattering high neck and doesn't cling in the wrong places! Did splash out on shoes/bag. (Beans on toast or your left over ham in my January budget 😍). Daughter's lovely friends have loaned a whole lot of fascinators to try. New daughter-in-law has all the girls booked in for hair and make-up. She is a gem - great mix of strong but gentle. We all want those great life partners for our kids, don't we? You are so unspoilt by what you've suffered and what a bond you've set up in this group.

Well I was having a wee downstairs when I heard the wheelie bin come sauntering down the street. ‘Shit’ I thought as I hasn’t put my bin out.So I quickly finished my wee and hobbled with my crutches to the back door , got the bin, opened the gate and went up the drive to the road . Next door neighbour was also putting out his bin at this point. Bin men got to mine just in time. Phew I thought that was close. Hobbled back up drive and I thought it’s abit nippy on my legs and arse and to my horror my dressing gown and nightie was tucked in my knickers so my 50 shades of white arse was on show for the whole street and bin men to see. I’m currently hiding under my covers looking where the furthest place away from here is to go and live xx

This made me spit my coffee out Laura 🤣🤣🤣 I guess you should be glad you had knickers on. 🤭🤭

@Imbluedalale
Afternoon lovely! X
What am I up to?
Just making some no kneed bread in the airfryer oven....never done it before so we will see how it turns out
Have done some housework, DS is home later so thought I'd better dust his room😂

Oh and just want to say....be careful what you store in the shed, nothing the mice might like - it won't end well!!

@Cuneburnal I love your New Years resolution!
Be brave and I hope you have a lovely time at the Christmas wedding

Thank you @Munchyseeds2 My progress is good! Have a wonderful Christmas.

AdmittowearingCrocs · 20/12/2024 13:48

Also, just want to agree with @Munchyseeds2 , don’t store anything other than tins in your shed, and those only if really dry otherwise they will rust. If you need to store packets put them in a big “Really Useful” box as they are vermin proof. You can get the RU boxes from Amazon or B&Q

2 hours and 24 minutes away 😭😭😭😭😭

I'm so sorry! So near and yet so far - I should have nabbed another one and posted it to you somehow, but I'm not actually in Banbury now. Ah I feel bad for getting your hopes up. They are in stock on Ocado but I think it all depends on your local depot...

Hi Laura and all you lovely Spoonies, you cheered me up with your post Laura! I did a similar thing, but mine was in the airport. I went for a quick wee before I was going to get in the plane, and my skirt was in my knickers. A lovely lady, taped me on my shoulder to tell me, but goodness knows how many people saw my knickers first!

Sorry I haven’t posted for a while, I’ve been feeling a bit down and overwhelmed. My husband went to see a friend of his who lives on his own. He couldn’t get a answer, and his next door neighbour came out to say she hadn’t seen him for a few days Anyway my husband called the police and they entered his house to find he had died.
He was such a lovely man, he had a brother and sister who lives at the other end of the country. It’s just so sad to think of him all alone. My husband had seen him 5 days before and he was fine.

I’m so pleased your relationship with your son and daughter is so much better, hopefully they will realise now what a lovely mum they have.

i love M&S food, we had their Chicken Kiev yesterday ‘yummy’. Have you tried their Pineapple Tarts? I love their iced Madeira cake. Not gloating but I have one in my cupboard 😋

I would love to be in the WA group, but I have know idea, how I can send my phone number safely!

I have been reading all the threads, so sorry I haven’t posted. 😘🌺

@Cuneburnal welcome. Please do join us on the WhatsApp when it’s set up and I’m looking forward to seeing wedding photos.

Out of adversity, great things can grow. Our dear @Imbluedalale and this group are testament to that.

Thank you! Such an inclusive group. Christmas pun - Laura's thread has snowballed - sorry Christmas cracker type joke.

Munchyseeds2 · 20/12/2024 14:22

@Nottogetapenny
Your poor DH - hopefully his passing was quick, which is a blessing....something v similar ( but worse) happened to my DH this time last year ...I know he still thinks about his friend .

Munchyseeds2 · 20/12/2024 14:23

@Imbluedalale your bin story!! I was laughing out loud!
Don't worry about it lovely...I'm sure you made their day😂

Imbluedalale · 20/12/2024 14:30

RaspberryBeretxx · 20/12/2024 13:07

Morning (afternoon now!) all.

@BeNavyCrab you sound like you had such an amazing childhood sailing round the world. I love that you gave your DC £15 to feed the family for a day. That’s such a great lesson although the pork pie to feed 4 and pick n mix for breakfast did make me laugh. I don’t think I have your number but feel free to PM me and I’ll add you to the group. Oh and a huge well done to your DD! An 8 hour journey sounds stressful for anyone so that’s brilliant that she coped and feels confident enough to do it again.

@ChaosHol1 so sorry to hear about your MIL. Hope you’re OK. If you’d like to join the WhatsApp group, do PM me.

@Imbluedalale That’s so hard that your son is struggling and upset but I’m so pleased that your relationship with him has turned a corner. It sounds like he’s handling it so well with the flowers to her mum etc and taking it on the chin which is a testament to your parenting! What an absolute arse your ex is with his ridiculous cheating excuses.

That’s so lovely that your parents have filled up your freezer (even though it means you can’t food shop!). My partner is always going on about how full my freezer is as I don't have drawers, just shelves so you open it and stuff falls out on top of you. Your fishcakes for dinner sound lovely. I used to love those ones with the melting/saucey middle.

My parents and I just went to a garden centre with a soft play yesterday and had lunch. I had a loaded brunch omelette with chips and it was amazing. Back to working from home today.

😂at your bum hanging out story! I hate that rush to get to the bin men. Still, at least you have an empty bin which is the most important thing (and probably gave the bin men a thrill!!).

@spoonfulofmustard sorry you’re still not feeling very well 💐.

@Malbecfan that’s so lovely that you invited the lady who delivers your dad’s paper on Christmas day and that her and your Dad can enjoy telling their stories to each other!

Hi @CookiePookie . Hope you’re well. You’re welcome to PM me too.

Hello to everyone else.

Hi @RaspberryBeretxx , how’s your afternoon going?
It is lovely to see this side of my eldest although not in the best circumstances. I hate that he’s hurting but that he’s brought it on himself and I hate that he’s hurt somebody else but he’s only 19 so hopefully he will learn from this.
Oh I love a trip to a garden centre, there’s this amazing one here called Walkers , it’s got 2 huge cafes, a bakery and a butchers it’s massive and the food is delicious. Your food that you had sounds lovely.
I have decided that I’m never going to put my bin out in daylight again . In fact I’ve found a beanie hat and some sunglasses for whenever I next venture out. My mum said at least it means they’ll always empty my bin now 😭😭😭😭😱xx

Oh they will have forgotten it by the new year - if they even saw it. I would bet most of them didn't, and in any case, it's similar to what someone might wear in public on the beach.

My afternoon is going well thanks. I'm having a late lunch break and about to hop in the bath 😄.

I guess it's just a sort of silver lining that your son has come back to you, his mum who he knows will give him good advice and comfort and has the learning experience rather than years down the line when more is at stake. Not that you'd wish the hurt on him, it's heartbreaking when they are sad and I'm sure that's the same at 19 as it is at any other age.

Your massive garden centre sounds amazing, I've never been to one with a butchers in before!

😂at getting a disguise for going outside! Hopefully your bin will get special treatment now 😄.

@Nottogetapenny I'm so sorry to hear about your husbands friend, that's so sad and really hard that he was there when the police found him.

@Imbluedalale I've advised the council can sort bin collection for those with mobility issues. Or streaking tendencies 😂 the bin men will be looking compensation for trauma 😂
It's been a good day. I gave up at 11am. Put some Christmas tunes on and had a bit of a tidy downstairs. Then I got your lovely surprise in the post. I will post a picture in the WA buts it's a gorgeous decoration with the family names on. Pride of place on the front of the tree.
I had a walk to Tesco to pick up baskets of winter flowers for my mum and aunt so I'm done now.
Thanks for getting the chat going @RaspberryBeretxx I also enjoy a lunchtime bath on my break 😀

Adding to my collection! I have an ace son-in-law too. So shy when he first turned up on our doorstep at 17. Fine husband & dad now. Opposites attract maybe - he's calm, cool, collected. Daughter extrovert. Good combo. My instincts are really good - I see your future as being really happy with your children, mum, dad and sister. A certain person will have regrets big time. He'll never find another you.
