Biden has pardoned his son because his conviction was a "miscarriage of justice".

Is this the total end of standards and even a pretence at integrity in public life? This is a president, who admittedly like all the others, allowed innocent people to be executed in their joke of a justice system. What a hypocrite.

Biden didn't lie earlier in the year when he said he wouldn't pardon his son - what he said was true at the time but he has since changed his mind. I do not condone his decision.

You could let every lying politician on the planet off the hook using this logic

It wasn't true at the time because he's pardoned him.

This isn't suddenly deciding you want tea instead of coffee, it's someone who's decisions affect billions of people. Its the most powerful man on the planet demonstrating that the criminal justice system doesn't apply to his family.

A victimless crime????? are you joking?????
Hunter and Joe are in bed with the CCP, literally Americas enemy.

Also, there are many, many victims of the illegal immigrants, allowed into USA under Joes watch, who would be turning in their graves if they could see the leader of the Biden crime family pardoning his despicable drug addled, money laundering hapless son, who fully deserves to be locked up for years and years.

The same Joe Biden who does not recognise, or acknowledge his own grandchild. What on earth does this family have to do before his band of tone deaf supporters realise that he is actually bad to the bone.

Good riddance to them, I hope we never have to hear of them again once he leaves (got kicked out) of office.

So, if you've ever changed your mind, does that make you a liar?

Ytcsghisn · 02/12/2024 07:09

This thread is genuinely hilarious.

Its like a comedy sketch.

The lefties straining every sinew to find the most obscure, peculiar, embarrassing justifications for Grandpa Biden’s actions.

If you love Biden so much, or have so much froth at the mouth hate for Trump (I suspect it’s the latter), the best way to expires you moral superiority is to accept that this action is inexcusable. But they just can’t bring themselves to do it.

Its so funny to watch.

FrostyTheSnowHuman · 02/12/2024 07:10

Ytcsghisn · 02/12/2024 06:49

Look at the lefties falling over themselves to make excuses. ‘Oh but Trump’, ‘oh but he was innocent’ ‘oh but that’s the system (never mind that Biden said he would not do this)’.

The hypocrisy on the left never ceases to amaze.

No wonder Trump wiped the floor clean with Harris.

I am “on the left” but I find the hypocrisy sickening too.

How can he trust his son will be safe in prison when someone as blatantly corrupt as Trump is in power? He clearly has no other option but to carry out an act of blatant corruption himself! But but but it’s okay because he’s a goodie and Trump’s a baddie.

Phew. Justice prevails.

Unreal that you're even asking this question.

But this is his own son. Biden previously claimed he would not intervene in the juystice system on his son's behalf, or grant him clemency, bht has just gone back on all that. its like the last gasp of a feeble ruler who has lost all sense of wider issues.

Or possibly a wtf they just voted in a convicted fellon to lead us I might as well save my son as they don't care.

Or possibly, I'll throw my son to the wolves if I get elected but if I don't then, screw you and your criminal justice system.

He probably saw no choice, given that the incoming president has pledged to use the Justice Department to target his political opponents, and to purge the Department of civil servants so that his supporters can take their place.

if it makes you feel better, Trump has also pledged to pardon many of his supporters who physically stormed the Capitol in January 2021, in an attempt to prevent the handover of power. But his first move, of course, will be to end the active investigations into his own conduct during his first presidency.

This.

What do you mean what it's going to become?

The current president just pardoned a criminal because he's his son, how much worse can it get than that? 😂

Yes but then the American people picked trump as his successor. If I were him I'd decide I owed them nothing, they deserved nothing, and I may as well do something to help my own, as nothing matters anyway anymore

This is an interesting move, the public is now going to want to know exactly what his son got up to whereas previously it flew under the radar.

It didn't fly under the radar, it was actively censored and suppressed by social and legacy media

Nottodaythankyou123 · 02/12/2024 07:23

Ytcsghisn · 02/12/2024 07:00

Imagine if Trump had done this.

Cue ‘yeah but, no but…..’

Oh they never learn. Even after getting a pasting, they never learn.

He did - he pardoned 237 people including members of his own family. I’d be interested to see what he does regarding his own criminal convictions once he becomes president.

DarkAndTwisties · 02/12/2024 07:23

This is a genuine question, because I really don't know. But how often do judges throw out plea deals agree by both sides? That's what happened here isn't it - there was an agreed plea deal but a Trump appointed judge said no to it?

I don't think he should have pardoned him, if nothing else it just brings more attention onto him (the son). But if it basically never happens that judges ignore plea deals that the prosecution have already agreed to (and as I say, I don't know), then I can see why he'd be annoyed and think that he was just righting that previous wrong. If judges overrule them all the time then that's a different situation.

I am sure though that in Trump and the republican's criticism of this move, their previous assertions around him having such bad dementia he basically didn't know where he was or what he was doing will disappear. Can't have it both ways.

There doesn’t seem any point in playing by the rules anymore. Trump has made no secret of the fact he doesn’t feel he has to.

Tbh I don’t blame him. Biden knows full well that Trump is going to wreak havoc and fill every position of power with his acolytes. I’d hate to have a child in prison who would be at the mercy of the vengeful orange one. Trump has pardoned all sorts of criminals; at this point there really is no point in playing the nice guy and turning the other cheek.

This. I do get Biden's statement that he thinks Hunter has been excessively prosecuted over this due to who his dad is. If that's true then I get why he's done this and don't blame him. Had Hunter being sentenced yet (don't think so), Biden is maybe worried about a crazy, long sentence. Does anyone know if other people who have filled out a gun form incorrectly are generally prosecuted like this?

I'm more worried that Trump is going to pardon the Jan 6th rioters - that's more of an issue.

in his mind (probably): the American voter has made it very clear that they do not care for integrity or the rule of law.

so why shouldn’t he pardon his son? Which is completely legal and his right as president.
