Biden has pardoned his son because his conviction was a "miscarriage of justice".

Is this the total end of standards and even a pretence at integrity in public life? This is a president, who admittedly like all the others, allowed innocent people to be executed in their joke of a justice system. What a hypocrite.

Ford pardoned Nixon and that was over 50 years ago. It's always been the same. People are just more aware of it nowadays.

PearBears · 02/12/2024 04:47

@MrsTerryPratchett I'm a little surprised that it's only now that you've realised nepotism is a driving force in all areas of power? Of course it is deeply unfair, but when is it ever not about 'who you know'? America did not 'get here's it's always been like this. It's like that in the UK too, just hidden a bit better.

Agree that the west in general is on a downturn, perhaps never to come back up. And glad you've highlighted the broader structural inequalities, which most people chose not to see.

No, it's a man who knows what's ahead under Trump and has wisely chosen to protect his son from it, while he has the chance. You can't just trust the justice system to do the right thing under Trump.

Yes. I can't blame Biden for this move at all, no matter what he said previously. And as another poster said, this is completely inconsequential in the grand scheme of things. His was a victimless crime.

A victimless crime????? are you joking?????
Hunter and Joe are in bed with the CCP, literally Americas enemy.

Also, there are many, many victims of the illegal immigrants, allowed into USA under Joes watch, who would be turning in their graves if they could see the leader of the Biden crime family pardoning his despicable drug addled, money laundering hapless son, who fully deserves to be locked up for years and years.

The same Joe Biden who does not recognise, or acknowledge his own grandchild. What on earth does this family have to do before his band of tone deaf supporters realise that he is actually bad to the bone.

Good riddance to them, I hope we never have to hear of them again once he leaves (got kicked out) of office.

TheTidyBear · 02/12/2024 04:49

What a way to cement his legacy, unbelievable
The whatabouttery on this thread is insane

notgettinganyyounger · 02/12/2024 04:39

Tbh I would have done the same. Biden is old and may not be around for much longer. I would like to die surrounded by my family, not with one offspring in prison.

Yeah, who cares about a meaningless thing like the oath you took when being sworn in as President of the US and the integrity of office when it comes to such things.

But but but but Trump etc. etc.

I think it’s disingenuous to claim we all wouldn’t do the same thing. Especially given the fact that trump is about to be president

I’ve been thinking that Biden ought to go ahead and pardon his son. I would have. The whole system will be crazy and unpredictable under Trump and his cronies.

Hilarious that people are getting worked up about a pardon that is politically inconsequential when a man like Trump is going to be president.

This, lol !

I doubt it will be politically inconsequential at any foreseeable election when people are considering whether Democrat politicians have any integrity

Probably quite a few Trump voters feeling vindicated right now

Based on Trump's recent win, I don't think the majority of American voters care about integrity

Why would they, when whoever they vote for doesn't have any?

I’m glad Biden pardoned his son. As far as Democrats being seen as lacking integrity, that’s laughable. The Republicans have sold their souls to the devil.

So it’s bad for a relative of a president to do business with China? Like Kushner and his criminal family and Ivanka who was ‘working’ in the White House at the time? www.citizensforethics.org/reports-investigations/crew-investigations/jared-and-ivanka-made-up-to-640-million-in-the-white-house/

I’m more concerned about the convicted felon, liar, serial fraudster and rapist about to take over in the White House. The revenge-obsessed monster spewing non-stop threats about putting his ‘enemies’ in prison and even executing them.

Yeah, who cares that Biden has been gaslighting the US public for the last 5 years by claiming he has morals.

And he just gave away any moral high ground you think you have, permanently

IntrovertInDisguise · 02/12/2024 05:29

@Savemydrink - The Biden “crime family”. Hahaha. 🙄

A convicted criminal just got voted in as their president. Nothing surprises me about them anymore

I wonder if, in four years time, Trump will be able to pardon himself!

That'll be fine, because Biden....

ChessorBuckaroo · 02/12/2024 05:31

This narcissistic, self absorbed, power hungry (had to be pushed out), egotistical maniac is currently funding a genocide.

And what do you mean "end of standards"? Since when were there any? Biden is just the latest in a long line of presidents who have either directly committed human rights abuses of people viewed as less than, or been complicit in it.

  • george washington advocating the complete evisceration of a Native settlement, and signing into law the fugitive slave act 1793 guaranteeing a slavemaster (such as himself) the return of African slaves to their masters who had escaped a plantation.

  • thomas jefferson raping at least one of his 600 African slaves, wrote, "blacks are inferior to whites in the endowments of body and mind", also dehumanised the Natives as "savages" in the white settler document the 'declaration' on an occupied peoples land. The Natives are PEOPLE. He's the savage.

  • theodore roosevelt on the Natives: "I don't believe the only good Indians are dead Indians, but I believe nine out of ten are".

Faces of these three tyrants are carved into "mt rushmore" (carving done by a Ku Klux Klan grand wizard, Gutzon Borglum), another sacred Native site.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/history/2020/07/03/mount-rushmore-gutzon-borglum-klan-stone-mountain/

And the fourth white supremacist on the monument, abraham lincoln, or Abe as he is affectionately known by the colonising group of white settlers, stated: "I am not, nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people. I as much as any man am in favor of the superior position assigned to the white race."

There is the theft of Hawaii from its Natives. There is the crimes committed against civilians in Korea (No Gun Ri massacre), Vietnam (My Lai massacre), and over a million killed in Iraq as well as prisoner abuse (Abu Ghraib).

Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan in a recorded phone call, Reagan stated: "Last night, I tell you, to watch that thing on television, as I did, to see those, those monkeys from those African countries — damn them — they’re still uncomfortable wearing shoes!”

Richard Nixon: "I have the greatest affection for [blacks], but I know they're not going to make it for 500 years. ... The Mexicans are a different cup of tea. They have a heritage. At the present time they steal, they're dishonest, but they do have some concept of family life. They don't live like a bunch of dogs, which the Negroes do live like."

https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-xpm-1999-11-07-9911070165-story.html

Palestinians, facing a genocide (per UN agencies) by a group being armed to the teeth by Biden, over 42k dead, over 26k of whom are women and children.

Standards? Really?

Reagan called African U.N. delegates 'monkeys' in call with Nixon, audio recording reveals

The National Archives withheld the part of the call with Reagan's racist remark when it was first released, but made the full conversation public this month.

Trump has pledged to pardon the Jan 6 attackers. The Dems might as well abandon having standards, too.

My previous comment with all the quotes and actions of a host of presidents was in response to this comment.

"End of standards". You couldn't make this nonsense up.

Please, do not be so ignorant

TheTidyBear · 02/12/2024 05:38

Well I guess on mumnset quite a few people teach their children it's ok to do bad things because others do them too

Great stuff

Oh, and Trump’s first pick to run the Justice Department, Matt Gaetz, was recently under investigation by that same department for sex offenses against minors.

You can’t make this shit up. Almost everything that has happened in the US over the past 8 years would have been rejected as a plot element on The Thick of It, as too over-the-top.

So true. It’s like living in a satire comedy. Except it’s not funny, it’s scary.

MaggieBsBoat · 02/12/2024 05:45

He’s a very old man who wants to do the last thing he actively can to help his son. In a few weeks he’ll have no chance to. Most of us would do the same. I’m not a fan of Biden but come on, it’s what any sane person would do to help their family - in a system where the actual president is a sex offender and fraudster and the government made of billionaires and fascists. The US is a cautionary tale nothing more.
