To think DH did nothing wrong here?

On my way to do the school run in the dark I nearly slammed into a little black car that was broken down just around a blind on our very rural 60 mile an hour road. I noticed a woman alone sitting in the car. I called DH and asked him to go at least put cones around the car but also to offer to the woman for him to stay with her (in his car) or come stand on our drive so she didn't get killed sitting in the car. He went up to her and she politely declined (all fine but he was legitimately afraid for her). He did then drive back around the bend and sat there with his hazards on to slow any cars coming down. Eventually the recovery van came for her and all was well until a few hours later we had the police at the door saying this woman reported DH for having made her feel threatened!? He's now said in the future he just won't even offer help if he's in the same position again. The police were fairly aggressive with wanting to know exactly what he said and did so clearly she was very uncomfortable.

@adriftinadenofvipers a bit unfair to quote Urban dictionary slang hardly universal. I can assure you no I haven't nor have I ever partaken in alcohol. Good enough,?

Not my problem if you have comprehension issues.

Urban dictionary ? Play fair

It's in the op " I called DH and asked him to go at least put cones around the car but also to offer to the woman for him to stay with her (in his car)"

Care to apologise for calling me a liar,! @MemorableTrenchcoat

He was going to stay in his car. He didn't ask her into the car. Jesus wept the comprehension issues on this thread.

Yes, with them sitting in separate cars. He was offering to wait with her, not luring her into his car.

Edingril · 30/11/2024 02:21

But you decided for her what she needed, you took the control away from her an grown adult in order to think for herself

And you decided she needed a man as was incapable to think for herself, you did this because you wanted to feel better about helping someone because you decided they needed it

Thinking for herself would have meant she would have put her hazards on. At a minimum.

That is not what the op states! It isn't beyond reason this is what the woman believed he offered

It is in black and white

brentwoods · 30/11/2024 02:24

Your DH did nothing wrong. She was as stupid and unreasonable as all the posters here who can't read.

It really is getting tiresome around here lately. 3 posts in and someone is both misreading the actual text and the man's intentions. 🙄

Marblesbackagain · 30/11/2024 02:27

Hilarious so everyone else is misreading when the text is ambiguous at best. How the hell are women meant to know which are the attackers, they don't wear a badge!

the black and white text says IN HIS CAR. His car, meaning the husbands car. Not in HER car, the stranded woman's car.

It's exactly what the OP states. Why is that not understandable to so many "readers" here?

for him to stay with her (in his car)

I have thrown this phrase into AI and asked does this mean both people in one car. The answer was yes.

So it isn't the ,"readers" that are the issue!

No, I won’t apologise, because you are lying. OP has repeatedly clarified what she meant, i.e. DH would stay with the woman, while she sat in her car, and he in his. And you have already been told this. But, because you hate men, you’ve chosen to twist the facts to suit your narrative.

Well, if “AI” says it, it must be true. Get a grip.

No I am not. I have copied it ver batum ran it through AI.

I don't hate men, I hate men who are patronising people who made a woman fear and ring the police!

And seriously I very much doubt he provided such clarification as the OP didn't and obviously back peddled!

So, you don’t believe the woman embellished her tale to the police, but you do believe OP has changed her story about what DH did? Inconsistent but, again, suits your narrative.

Again for those of challenging intellec, the op can clearly be read as he offered to share a car. I read subsequent posts as back tracking.

What's more likely? Because let's out it like this the police turned up. If they were unconvinced by her report they wouldn't.

Denial is what I reckon is the real issue

Hun is dialect of a multitude of places. Urban dictionary tends to relay a class language.

The op statement is ambiguous, the subsequent posts massage it to fit your narrative. I know what I believe that poor woman heard

StandingSideBySide · 30/11/2024 02:54

Bendy rural roads are such a nightmare and there’s always a potential for something like this to happen
The driver should have put cones out if she was on a bend. She’s very much at fault in that regard.

Your dh did his best, he tried to help and sitting a distance away with his hazards on was very kind . I’m guessing she just didn’t understand why he was doing this.

Despite all of the above I do understand a women may have been scared by a man she doesn’t know talking to her whilst she’s alone on a rural road.

I don’t blame your husband for not bothering to help again.

betterangels · 30/11/2024 02:23

Thinking for herself would have meant she would have put her hazards on. At a minimum.

Plus put cones out the other side of the bend.

nb always have those collapsible cones in your car just in case
