To think DH did nothing wrong here?

On my way to do the school run in the dark I nearly slammed into a little black car that was broken down just around a blind on our very rural 60 mile an hour road. I noticed a woman alone sitting in the car. I called DH and asked him to go at least put cones around the car but also to offer to the woman for him to stay with her (in his car) or come stand on our drive so she didn't get killed sitting in the car. He went up to her and she politely declined (all fine but he was legitimately afraid for her). He did then drive back around the bend and sat there with his hazards on to slow any cars coming down. Eventually the recovery van came for her and all was well until a few hours later we had the police at the door saying this woman reported DH for having made her feel threatened!? He's now said in the future he just won't even offer help if he's in the same position again. The police were fairly aggressive with wanting to know exactly what he said and did so clearly she was very uncomfortable.

Man or bear most women choose bear. I know of no man who would be stupid to offer this

Are you the same poster as on the other thread, going on about men vs bears?

You really need to drop it, it's not the insightful statement you seem to think it is, it's just nonsense.

No, if given the choice of being locked in a tiny space with an unknown man or a grizzly, most women would not choose the grizzly 🙄

I have no idea what the hell you are talking about. I was quoting the recent sm question where women chose bear over man.

Now hang right on there - how does "three responses" make me "aggressive"?

Is there a quota? and btw that's 4, and carry on counting rofl!

Oh and how many posts is that from you? Pot, kettle??! Jesus, this place!

Edited

I didn't @ you three times it is aggressive.

betterangels · 30/11/2024 01:39

She wasn't a victim. Someone else could have been, though, since she didn't even think to put her hazards on sitting there in the dark in a broken down car. It's idiotic and dangerous.

MemorableTrenchcoat · 30/11/2024 01:32

What do you mean, no? OP narrowly avoided hitting her, someone else might not have been so fortunate. A woman’s discomfort does not outweigh the lives of innocent, maybe even female, motorists. And read it again, he did not offer to take her into his car. OP has already clarified this several times.

Well I disagree and obviously the police did as they made a visit!

MemorableTrenchcoat · 30/11/2024 01:15

He may also have saved her life, or that of a passing motorist. Surely you can see that?

No, I don't agree he could have rang the police let them know and retreat.

She just have been very scared to have rang them and then waiting with him behind her

You disagree with what, that his common-sense behaviour may have prevented a collision, or that a collision, which may have injured or killed people, was preferable to him hanging around? We don’t know what the woman who broke down told the police, she may well have embellished the facts.

PixieLaLar · 30/11/2024 01:43

Instead of phoning DH to faff around with cones etc you should have just called the police and informed them of the breakdown creating a dangerous hazard in the road.

Quoting another person's posts is normal. Aggressive, no.

The police are very stretched these days, and it was a rural location, so they may have taken some time to respond. A collision could happen in moments.

Making a visit means nothing.

In fact it's surprising that they even bothered their arses.

So she was probably in shock and had to add in weighting up her safety with a strange man!

Topsyturvy78 · 30/11/2024 01:45

It's well known if you are in that situation you need to get out the car and wait at the side of the road. My sister broke down late at night once. Luckily for her the car rolled and she managed to pull into a layby in front of a food trailer. She did have the sense to put her hazard lights on.

She wouldn’t be shocked for long if someone ploughed into the back of her and killed her. Fortunately this man’s actions prevented such a thing happening, yet somehow he’s in the wrong? You need to give your head a wobble.

Personally I'd have been more afraid of being broken down on a bend on a country road in the dark, but you do you.

(how many posts is that now?! pml!)
