DH pisses around toilet

We moved into our new home and the first thing I did was to clean the bathroom, including disinfecting the toilet area which was covered in mouldy spots. Within about an hour, DH had pissed all over the rim of the toilet and the floor just under the toilet had a small puddle of piss. I have asked him not to do this, just to wipe it dry when he misses the bowl. He says this is not his job.

I'm not particularly OCD about this sort of thing, I just like a clean bathroom and would prefer to clean it just once a week rather than daily/hourly.

I AM being unreasonable = This is beyond the scope of what is expected of a normal male in his own home.

I am NOT being unreasonable = Why can't he just make that small effort (quick wipe with tissues) so that I don't have to clean the toilet every day, and to save me getting my toes wet in a puddle of his piss?

Everyone seems rightly appalled at the "Not my job" comment, but the real question here is why can't he just, y'know, not piss on the floor?

Ask him if he has trouble aiming because his nob is so far away from the toilet

I think because if he just cleaned it up immediately, like a normal person, she’d have no idea that he’d pissed on the floor.

I’ve lived with lots of men: dad, brothers, flat mates, partners, my DH. Based on statistical probability, I’m sure some if them must have missed the loo occasionally. However, I have no idea. As, unlike OP’s disrespectful husband, they didn’t think it was someone else’s job to clean up their bodily waste.

All resolved this morning.

From now on he sits. And wipes up any accidents.

Believe it or not, he didn't realise it would seriously bother me!

Without revealing too much here, I think we're making the transition from sharing a wide open space (sort of the house equivalent of camping) to sharing a small space. One that I want to keep pretty and fresh!

Jesus, OP.

‘My adult husband pisses on the floor, expects me to clean it up, and had no idea either the urine (which he thought could sit there for a week) or treating me like a servant would be upsetting. Tee hee! I’m so meek! It’s hysterical!’

Every day, MN reveals yet more garbage that some women are willing to accept. I hope you enjoy this life that you’ve chosen for yourself.

RandomUserStuff · 29/11/2024 10:02

WTF? Whose job does he think it is to clean up his piss????

I'm sorry, OP, but to be honest no matter how lovely he is otherwise (and with that attitude I suspect he is not) I could not live with someone who thinks that's OK. If it was a rare occurrence because he was ill or drunk and didn't notice or forget to clean it up thet might be forgivable but if he thinks that is acceptable behaviour it would give me a massive ick.

Ask if his mother never toilet trained him properly. I'd be asking him if his mother trained him to piss on the floor, instead of in the bowl.

Why his mother? Because a man's uselessness always has to be a woman's fault?

Nope. Men I know that cannot aim straight SIT DOWN. It's what decent men do in the home.

Both my DH and DS sit down. They say it saves accidents and is much easier in the dark. No piss on the floor in my house.

Ruggsey · 29/11/2024 12:06

Of course he gets it🙄.
He just has zero respect for you or himself.

Is there a second loo?
If there is designate it yours, and leave him to his filthy one and don't go near it.

How women have sex with pigs like this is beyond me, and then they have children with them.

So grim.

He didn't realise it would seriously bother you that he literally told you it wasn't his job to clean up his own piss, it was yours? A reminder of what he said is below.

I have asked him not to do this, just to wipe it dry when he misses the bowl. He says this is not his job.

He's vile OP. I bet if you routinely pissed all over the seat / floor and told him it wasn't your job to clean it up he would think you were pretty disgusting. He doesn't get a pass for the same behaviour just because he has a penis.

This. I have never had to clean up a man's urine and I never will.

I would seriously look at other ways in which he a) lacks civilized standards and b) utterly disrespect you.

Not buying that a grown man "didn't realize" that having his smelly urine on the toilet and floor was something no one would bother about. For fuck's sake!

glad it is sorted but I can’t believe I read what I did - as though anyone thinks that is reasonable

Makingchocolatecake · 29/11/2024 22:12

His pee, his problem. Does he leave spilt milk etc in the kitchen?

Nanny0gg · 30/11/2024 16:58

After his first comments I'm very surprised that he's capitulated so readily

BonfireToffee · 03/12/2024 19:00

Oh God, OP. I hope you can realise that you deserve more than this in time. Of course he bloody knew it bothered you.

FloofyKat · 04/12/2024 00:51

Does he piss on the floor when he’s visiting family or friends, or when he’s at work? No, I thought not …
