DH wouldn't dance to our special song

Last night, at a bday party, our special song comes on. We are standing in a group, I look at DH with my most alluring face, say "our special song, let's dance", but he didn't respond. It was humiliating.

Has anyone else ever experienced such rejection and what do you think should do now?

I'm glad you're laughing about it, OP.

I'd hate to dance in front of people. Do you and your husband dance in public normally?

BustingBaoBun · 23/11/2024 16:04

Not everyone wants to dance to Agadoo, push pineapple, shake the tree... you've got to be in the mood to do the actions, honest.

This is very true but as it's Saturday Night and the air is getting hot he could probably make her his, take her to the top and drive her crazy. Dee Dee Dee nee na na na!

KimberleyClark · 23/11/2024 16:44

I’m amazed at how many people are talking about “dancing in public” like it was having sex in public.

BustingBaoBun · 23/11/2024 16:45

My goodness I dance lots with my DH at every opportunity which tends to only be holidays and weddings now. We're ancient and we pull some good moves on the dancefloor (according to me and no one else!)

I am amazed, don't people dance any more? Seriously?!

You'd all hate me then!

Was he aware that you were making an alluring face? Maybe he thought it was just a bit of trapped wind.

There was no mistaking my allure!

i doubt anyone else clocked your “alluring face”

Depends on just how "alluring" it was 😁

What was the song and what was the face? We need to know 😆

Song was Misirlou - the face, well, 💋just full of allure 😍

Phew, glad DH and I are not the only ones.

BeatsAntique · 23/11/2024 16:53

@marmitesarnies Are you sure you weren’t just “allure adjacent”? 😆

I’m amazed at how many people are talking about “dancing in public” like it was having sex in public.

I was thinking that.
A PP said they'd get the ick if their partner of 20 years asked them to dance, another asked who dances nowadays...
I do given half a chance!
DH and I haven't got an "our tune" and he thinks music is for listening to earnestly, but I still love an opportunity to get on the dance floor.
@marmitesarnies I think you've been really sporting about this. My allure is greatly enhanced by wine too. There's no filter as good as a whole brain and eyes filter.
My only question is: was anyone else dancing?
That would have made a difference to me.

Make sure you take him to the cleaners OP!

The judge will take a dim view, don't worry, OP.

Delighted for you to dance your heart out, completely with pre-rehearsed routines and alluring faces. If however, you’re the type who tries to drag peiole onto the dance floor when they’re deep in conversation, I will happily karate chop you on the windpipe.

Boutonnière · 23/11/2024 16:56

Rule of thumb I’ve come to realise - the more PDA or gushing over ‘our song!’ In
by the, say, over 40s, the greater the likelihood of one or both having an affair at the time.

AllTheWatersTurnedToClouds · 23/11/2024 16:56

😁
we watched some episodes of Miranda this week, forgot how funny it was

Wherethewildthingsfart · 23/11/2024 16:57

Why are you even with this cocklodger?! LTB and take the dog.

Stand and deliver?

Nah, can't be.

There's not a middleaged bloke around that liked Adam and The Ants who wouldn't go straight into a full dance (and sneak in a bit of Prince Charming with a snatch of Mick Jagger whilst he's at it).

Hahahaha that made me laugh out loud! Nooooo wouldn't dream of doing that... far too embarrassing!

Just love dancing, me!

Cynic17 · 23/11/2024 13:48

Oh come on, OP. Even those of us who have a "special song" would rather chew off our own leg than dance to it in public! Your poor husband. Assuming everything else is OK between you, please just forget this - it's not a big deal. It's not "rejection" and you do nothing (apart from carry on as normal).

exactly

charlieinthehaystack · 23/11/2024 17:04

probably didnt understand your face probably thought you had wind

Boomer55 · 23/11/2024 17:04

LTB. Not dancing with you, and your alluring face, is obviously a deal breaker.
