gives you the ick?

It seems very popular on Mumsnet. Do you stay in the ones you slept in or shower and put on fresh ones?

On xmas day this year i wont be in the uk so will have a hangover and hope i wake up with whoever and spend the day re-covering from the night before.
Then crack on and make more bad choices 😆the following night.

Googlyboox · 20/11/2024 21:48

PJs for me are synonymous with "home clothes" eg flannel baggy trousers and a sweatshirt, which I wear everyday unless I go out

Bottom line for me would be: no bra at home.

Elphame · 20/11/2024 21:50

I would never spend a day in pyjamas - unless I was ill enough to be in bed.

Get up. Get dressed!

Gettingbysomehow · 20/11/2024 21:52

I certainly dont dress up in itchy sparkly christmas clothing. Im on my own this year as DS is busy moving house so its PJs for me.

kikisparks · 20/11/2024 21:52

I don’t really do judging of other people’s choices. Let people enjoy the things they enjoy. Being in your pjs at home with your immediate family shouldn’t be something that offends strangers. Or if you want to dress to the nines crack on with that too.

We have people over so we do get dressed but more Christmas jumpers than anything fancy.

Needmorelego · 20/11/2024 21:53

@Elphame I think the point is many people do "get up and get dressed" - just in a clean pair of pjs which for most people is just a loose pair of trousers and top.

StillAtTheRestaurant · 20/11/2024 21:54

I love a pyjama day and if it's on Christmas Day, even better!

DrCoconut · 20/11/2024 21:55

No appeal at all. I only wear PJs in the day if I'm too ill to get dressed. It really affects my mental health not to get up and washed, changed etc. Especially in winter when it's cold and grim anyway.

Inthefreakmidwinter · 20/11/2024 21:55

My DC do, but they would probably live in their pjs given the chance, I always wish they would get dressed and I think DD might get dressed up this year. Doesn't give me the ick but I definitely don't join them.

Likewise I would not, and even during 2020 went out each day for a walk.

Mozartine · 20/11/2024 21:56

Wake up, get out of bed, get dressed and go downstairs. PJs all day? Is there anything more slobby? Have some personal standards people!

StepawayfromtheLindors · 20/11/2024 21:57

Ick here. Slobby. I don’t get the love for PJs in the day at all unless you’re ill in bed.

Gorgonemilezola · 20/11/2024 21:57

No, I'm always up early and like to start the day showered and dressed.

Mozartine · 20/11/2024 21:58

GiddyRobin · 20/11/2024 20:31

If you read the thread, you'll see the vast majority do shower and then change...into fresh PJ's! Why? Because they're comfy, warm (what kind are people buying to be cold?), and it's about the only day of the year some people can and do!

Like I posted earlier, we do the dress up on Christmas Eve. NYE will be the same. Boxing Day here is a birthday party. One day to sit and be comfortable and (MN seems to really hate this one <pinches nose and dives in>) snuggly!

😁

Ah, you edited can't to can, but either way! Point still stands. It's snuggly 😆

Edited

Why don’t you buy comfy, snuggly clothes???

namechangetheworld · 20/11/2024 21:58

No, the thought of it makes me feel a bit ill. I don't even feel right being downstairs in my PJs. And I'm not posh in the slightest.

LoudSnoringDog · 20/11/2024 21:59

We do this Boxing Day

drspouse · 20/11/2024 22:00

I did this once when I had a chest infection so bad I had to go to OOH for antibiotics (technically I went to the clinic in joggers).

After that it doesn't appeal.

What’s slobby about getting up having a shower and then putting on a pair of luxurious silk pajamas to have an amazing Christmas with 17 close family (also dressed up in pjs). Party games to judge the best pjs, lots of champagne and a huge cold buffet before getting into ski gear for the evening ski session? Pretty special in my book.

Needmorelego · 20/11/2024 22:03

Why on these threads do the "eww that's gross" people never seem to be able to explain explain what the difference between a pair of pyjama bottoms and top and a pair of light trousers and top is.
Come on people..... explain what the actual difference is.

good job you don't live in a bungalow then

MikeRafone · 20/11/2024 22:07

I did, they are called pyjamas

Evaka · 20/11/2024 22:10

No way. Xmas is dressy in our house.

Needmorelego · 20/11/2024 22:12

@Mozartine so what exactly is "warm snuggly clothes"?
Most retailers call that "Loungewear" - which is pretty much the same thing as pyjamas 😂

Notyouthful · 20/11/2024 22:13

Even when I have been ill with covid, chest infections, I don't wear PJs at home, I have some very thick baggy clothes instead.

I don't like thick fleecy PJs in bed, get too hot.

SassK · 20/11/2024 22:13

I don't ever wear a full set of PJ's, I love to lounge though in PJ bottoms and a t shirt. I sleep in a vest and shorts, I don't wear PJ's in bed.
The idea of people lounging in jeans, trousers etc gives me the fear 😂
