If your Dh owned this coat, would you make it mysteriously ‘Disappear’

I hate it!

He has lots of lovely clothes, new coat this winter, but always pulls this horror out. A hillbilly, scruffy, donkey jacket.
I realise it’s up to him what he wants to wear and he’s a grown man and it would be wrong for it to mysteriously‘Disappear’

But…would you make this coat mysteriously disappear?

It isn't your property to make disappear.

There are plenty of my partners clothes i'm not fond of. She dresses the way she likes. It is her choice and vica versa.

Once someone starts making clothes disappear, what's next?

The difference is OP only dislikes one item who is quite funny, you just don't like how your partner dresses.

Once someone starts making clothes disappear, what's next?

In this case one coat which isn't actually going to disapear.

Nothing.

This is not a donkey jacket it's a biker jacket. No I think you need to leave him decide what he does or doesn't wear.

My ex’s mother bought him one of these in green. I hated it too. Even new they are just revolting to me. She rarely bought him anything so he was quite attached to it, but eventually got a bit self conscious wearing it after being teased by a couple of his old school friends. He asked me if I agreed with them and I just shrugged and told him he should wear what he likes (no way was he wearing it after those boys commented so it really didn’t matter what I said and I wasn’t about it to have any negative feelings about it from me reported back to his mother).

A wise woman. 🤣

@Dinkydo12 It’s not a biker jacket I don’t think?

I'm not sure what kind of bikers you hang out with but that is not a biker jacket

I'm trying to picture the local hells angels (yes we do still have them around here) cosplaying as Del Boy on their Harleys 😅.

TheDogBartholomew · 24/11/2024 15:51

No, definitely not, but I can't promise that I wouldn't mock him unmercifully.

Do you think its a donkey jacket. Its just a leather jacket. Get over yourselves. 😂

MusicMakesItAllBetter · 24/11/2024 20:18

I have a jacket similar from Principles of all places lol 😂

Not Donkey, Not Denim, Not Leather.

It's a sheepskin Del Boy jacket

Cantbearsedwiththosepeskyelves · 20/11/2024 16:35

Ok, it’s not a donkey jacket, I didn’t actually know what one was, the name just seems to suit it
It was actually trendy around maybe 12 years ago and was nice when new, Zara men I think, but now…😬

I’ve no idea what the Del Boy jacket style is called tbh but be glad it’s not a donkey jacket - made of treated wool to be warm and water resistant, very very ugly with the added complication that they reek when they get wet!

ec5881 · 25/11/2024 02:28

Lol this msg cracked me up!!! Your description of it 😂😂 My best mate’s husband had some awful glasses that turned to shades and she couldn’t bear them. They were a v odd shape. One day a high wind/wave took them out to sea while he was paddling. Maybe wear it out in these high winds. In all seriousness you could tell him, I’m so sorry love but I love you but I hate that jacket. He might start wearing some of the ones you love! Then at least he’d know 😂 good luck either way

@Boing98 Oh ffs, slightly dramatic…I’m not abusive or controlling, I just have aversion to this coat

A reply which, ironically, is both abusive and dramatic....

I keep misreading this title as 'If your DH had a boat, would you find it mysterious?'

Gouki · 27/11/2024 15:56

MrsTigerface · 20/11/2024 19:35

Depending on the gullibility (or not) of your DH you could simply bung it in the bin and next time he asks for it, say something like ‘but we talked about this darling, don’t you remember, you said it was getting a bit tatty and should go out’. This has worked for me many times over the course of 30 years of marriage, but admittedly, yours might be a bit more on the ball than mine x

A (modern) textbook definition of gaslighting.

Gouki · 27/11/2024 16:11

cornflakecrunchie · 21/11/2024 18:24

Aww, I bet he's cuddly in it, though!
For all those with no sense of humour & 'what if it was your clothes', I did used to like a Chanel type suit, I had a few & loved them.
DH used to call them my 'jam & Jerusalem' suits! :-0 How RUDE, lol!
(I got rid of them because he didn't like me in them!)

But your comparison is not a comparison - he did not dispose of your belongings without your consent. YOU chose to dispose of them. He seemingly didnt even ask you to; but you got to choose what happened with your property.

TBF if DH managed to buy a boat on his salary it would definitely be a mystery.

A dinghy, maybe.

(No offence intended to DH btw, he has a very worthy job but definitely not paid well enough to buy a yacht 😆)

Boomer55 · 27/11/2024 17:03

Unless you’re happy for your DH to dump any of your clothes he doesn't like, I’d leave it be 🙂
