To have the dog in the bed with us?

I bathed her this morning for the first time in well over a year as she rolled in poop. This was the result… she sleeps under the duvet with us every night.. how am I not ill? 🥴

On the bed would be OK, I wouldn't like a pet in the bed personally because it just seems dirty. Maybe it makes your immune system stronger having more bacteria around you, who knows!

2024onwardsandup · 18/11/2024 21:13

There are studies that show it does bolster the immune system….

but my pup has a groom every six weeks and sleeps at end of bed (his choice) so I’m not that bolstered…

RickiRaccoon · 18/11/2024 21:15

It's probably good for your immune system.
I've got 2 little ones in the bed but I wouldn't choose to do it again. They're getting old and a bit annoying during the night. I'm also aware that we might be near the time they might have accidents and will have to kick them out (which seems a bit unfair after so long in there but necessary).

stargazerlil · 18/11/2024 21:16

I have hot flashes so mine can’t sleep in bed with me. However dirty she gets she’s still cleaner than a lot of men I’ve shared a bed with.

HappiestSleeping · 18/11/2024 21:16

We only let ours on on sheet change day, although it is a struggle sometimes as he loves being under the duvet.

Wellingtonspie · 18/11/2024 21:16

Surely you must just smell like dog all day long.

Aww, bless. Yeah, after seven years in the bed with us I don’t think she’d have it any other way.

Mine sleeps on the bed, on the blanket my son had as a baby. Not under the duvet.

Stormyweatheroutthere · 18/11/2024 21:18

As a dc my big ddog slept on my bed.. School threatened dm with ss!! FYI I have never had a cold or am ever ill. Sadly dh won't allow our ddogs on our bed.. But maybe 4 IS too many to fit on anyway!

vodkaredbullgirl · 18/11/2024 21:19

My labs sleep on my bed.

Delatron · 18/11/2024 21:19

I wish I could. We only have them for such a short time. But my sleep is so bad and he’s a big fidgety lab so constantly wakes me.

The odd time I’m drunk I allow it!

Where would I be without a sausage shaped foot warmer in the winter months?

KindlyOldGoat · 18/11/2024 21:20

Yuk, I couldn’t abide the smell of dog in my bed. But then I’m a cat person!

EweCee · 18/11/2024 21:20

Ours sleep ON the bed (supposedly at our feet but I have woken up to his face on the pillow next to me instead of DH!) but never under the covers.

AMFA · 18/11/2024 21:20

Mine sleeps under the duvet - she scrapes the duvet back to get under, then settles with her nose sticking out at the end.
She’s like a hot water bottle that doesn’t make you sweat!

I am at that stage now. My dog is very old and I don't think we have very long left. But she is still on my bed at night (but with towels and puppy pads).

Why?

HooMoo · 18/11/2024 21:24

Our two sleep on our bed and go under the covers. We haven’t died yet.

Wellingtonspie · 18/11/2024 21:25

JedwardScissorhandz · 18/11/2024 21:24

Why?

Presumably to not block the plumbing the all
the fur and wet dog smell.

You've never had a cold. Yeah, right.
