I'll kick it off with Fairy Liquid!
Has anyone else noticed this? I have a dishwasher but often wash certain things, eg my big frying pan, by hand. You'd certainly need a mighty big squeeze these days, for a proper foamy lather.
Anything else? If nobody mentions Cadbury's chocolate, I will eat the Oodie I'm currently wearing Grin

Everything tbh. Unless you can pay top dollar for high quality.

SisterMaryLuke · 17/11/2024 10:47

Pretty much everything. It is so, so depressing.

Even that's getting harder and harder. Many places that used to sell long lasting, high quality clothes and other goods have kept the pricing but lost everything else. There's more of everything than there's ever been, but it's all garbage.

Sorry, but customer service.

I don’t ask for much. A “hello” “please” and “thank you” and no eye rolling would be nice. Someone to show me where something is that I can’t find. Someone to listen when I have an adjustment in my food order. Someone to check if they have a size 10 in the back somewhere.

But I find customer service is full of morose and sulky young people raised on TikTok to believe they deserve better, who think they don’t owe it to their job to put in a bit of hard work in. They’ve been brainwashed into thinking that is acceptable to see older women who don’t simper and stay quiet as a “Karen” And now we all have to be in the default position that someone has a MH issue or is having a bad day so asking where flaxseed is, or telling them you’re unhappy because your food did have the ingredient in you asked to be excluded, or asking for a bit of extra help is being a bothersome “Karen”. IMO it’s led to a generation of poor customer service and I find it very irritating.

On a similar note - food quality in restaurants. To pay £17+ for a bland meal I could have made better at home is something I’m not prepared to do anymore. Such a shame as I have always loved eating out.

I think lockdown made everything a bit shit and we all accepted it at the time with the assumption it would go back to normal and it never did

They've always been the same. It's just that we're more aware, better informed and less willing to accept their endless shit now.

Wishfives · 17/11/2024 10:58

Literally everything! I've returned so much clothing this year as it's not fit for purpose

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 17/11/2024 10:59

Toilet roll
Customer Service
Restaurant meals/sizes/12.5% service charge immediately added on.

I know Covid hit the industry hard and they've had to claw back to make profit but it seems the portion sizes are getting smaller whilst the prices are getting higher. We don't bother eating out as much now.

Butchyrestingface · 17/11/2024 11:00

Oxtail soup - all brands.

The re-released M&S prawn cocktail shell crisps - Jesus Christ, the new recipe is bowfin’. 🤢

Seeline · 17/11/2024 11:03

All electricals - nothing seems to last more than about 5yrs. My mum was still using things she had bought when getting married in the 60s thirty years later - no chance these days!

Ah but you can switch that around. Customers! So entitled and rude all the time. Since Covid and lockdown, no one knows how to use their manners anymore

  • I do think this is all across society though, everywhere you look, the way we interact with each other has gone significantly downhill. There is so little respect amongst adults and so much entitlement too.
ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 17/11/2024 11:06

Chocolate, ice cream, clothes.

Customer service.

SockQueen · 17/11/2024 11:07

Kids' bubble bath. It's all organic and gentle and smells lovely but I've not found one that can produce a decent lasting amount of bubbles. Admittedly incredibly hard water here but disappointing nonetheless.

ssd · 17/11/2024 11:08

I agree with customers....People who are tutting and eye rolling at you because you cant change rules made by a massive corporation when you only work 3 days a week...

GenerousGardener · 17/11/2024 11:14

Sensodene toothpaste. Haven’t bought any for a while. Got a tube on offer, what a disappointment. Nasty watered down runny stuff that almost emptied itself down the sink the first time I used it. Won’t be buying it again.

Pardon? Bowfin? Is that a new word?

EuclidianGeometryFan · 17/11/2024 11:25

Clothes.
So much horrible, artificial fibre, thinner-than-tissue, crap.

I always put my fingers on the inside of the fabric and look to see if I can see through it. So hard to find a decent thick tee-shirt or blouse - I can see pink fingers right through the fabric.

I hardly buy any clothes now.

VegTrug · 17/11/2024 11:24

I laughed when I saw the word ‘bowfin’,
never seen it used on here and I haven’t heard it in real life for ages 😂.

ThePerkyDuck · 17/11/2024 11:30

Food quality, especially in restaurants.

Yep, same here. I've used Fairy Liquid for years, and I've now switched to another brand. I don't know what they've done to it, but it's terrible.

I agree, even when I check the label information of eye watering expensive brands, it’s all acrylic and polyester. I can’t believe they expect us to pay 100-200 £ for a sweater made of plastic.

I think it's great that young people think they deserve better than to be on the receiving end of customers' superiority complexes.

I don't really require anything more of retail staff than to process my transaction quickly and efficiently, and if I need actual help then to provide it if they can. I certainly don't expect or require them to smile or do any emotional labour.

YourFluentCrab · 17/11/2024 11:34

Cadburys definitely, but all chocolate kinda sucks now. Only aldi is any good.
