Morning @Imbluedalale and all the spoonies! Well it’s white outside, which is great news if you have a lovely warm home.
This thread has made me think of all the people who don’t.
My day? Well I’m home all day, have some work to do and the Beverly Hills Housewives will keep me company. It’s series 14 tomorrow so I can’t wait!
Here’s to a great day everyone!

nornironlady · 19/11/2024 08:08

@Imbluedalale It's a Tuesday blues today.....as far as work is concerned, I just can't be bothered so I'm taking a half day and heading round to the Christmas market for that special something for you which I will get into the post asap. I really want to soak up some festive atmosphere and try and get my head into that frame of mind to start thinking about getting some gifts in. Right I gotta get my head down so I can get some work done before I run out the door at noon!

TealPoet · 19/11/2024 08:47

How lovely your first night sounds! Quiet, peaceful, comfy - how good is that?!? And most of all safe! And it’s yours, how amazing is that compared to just a couple of weeks ago! I think it might be nice to let the MP know how happy you are there - he really came through and made them take notice!

And yay for a washing machine and fridge - so exciting! If it’s safe to walk, maybe say hi to your neighbours - one of them might have something for you too, if we’re lucky!

Oh I’m so happy for you. And using way too many exclamation marks 😂

Nottogetapenny · 19/11/2024 09:15

Good morning Laura, and every spoonies. So pleased you slept well, I did too!

It was a seafood platter my sister and I shared yesterday lunchtime, plus we were greedy and got a potion of chips as well😋

Today it’s freezing here but no snow, so I’m going to do a job I hate and that’s to defrost my freezer, it’s so snowed up I can’t remove the drawers! Still if I put the contents outside in this cold they won’t defrost.

Hope you have another lovely day🌺😘

AdmittowearingCrocs · 19/11/2024 09:42

Morning Laura and the rest of the Spoonies, no snow here ( I am almost as far south as you can get and we rarely get snow). So pleased you slept well Laura with no disturbance from stompy Pete. Yippee for being able to get washing done today Laura, no more washing knickers in the sink 😁
Have a lovely day sorting stuff in your beautiful new home and enjoy looking at the snow through your patio doors onto your garden. 🏠🥄🫕

RaspberryBeretxx · 19/11/2024 10:46

Morning spoonies! So glad you had a good sleep Laura and that you have snow! That's lovely that it's nice and quiet. Do you have neighbours yet? Exciting for your fridge and washing machine.

It's my first work day of the week so I'm sitting at my desk with the cat purring on my knee. DD and I managed to make a quick snowman before I took her to nursery so she was happy! She's a bit confused though and thinks the snow means it's christmas so kept asking when we can get a Christmas tree. People drive like idiots, it wasn't terrible on the roads but not great, a bit of slushy snow n the middle. I was going 40 mph (plenty fast enough) and someone decided to drive 2 m from my bumper.

Imbluedalale · 18/11/2024 20:53

Good evening spoonies ….
Im sorry I’m only just posting with an update but it’s been a hectic but lovely day .
I have been reading all your posts whilst I’ve been in the van going from place to place but my god my mum can shop!
So they picked me up from the hotel and I had my suitcase with me , my dad said I couldn’t put it in the back of the van which I thought was strange as it’s a big van but I wasn’t too fussed and put it in front next to my mum. We got to house and was waiting outside for a while not realising the letting manager was waiting inside!😂
So he showed us around the house, I absolutely love it. You walk in the front door and there’s a toilet on the left with a gorgeous sink in and then into the kitchen which is my favourite room. The pictures don’t do it justice then into the living room where there’s patio doors and another door which leads to a lovely cubby hole cupboard . We went upstairs and my bedroom is massive and the bathroom is gorgeous. It also has different central heating for upstairs and downstairs so if it gets cold in the night I can turn heating up for upstairs from my bedroom. Anyway I signed all the documents and got my keys. When the man left my mum and dad asked me to come outside with them and they opened the van door and it was full to the brim of stuff for my house. My bed , loads of gorgeous kitchen stuff , everything I need for my kitchen , kettle , toaster, microwave , ninja cooker , tea towels , cutlery , gorgeous table and chairs for kitchen , bedding, bathroom stuff , towels, cushions , cups, plate set just absolutely loads. I was so overwhelmed. Then we went shopping , first we stopped off at the range and had some lunch although I insisted it was my treat. We then went round the craft area as I told my mum I liked doing crafts in the crisis house and she got me loads of craft stuff and one of those scrap books to do it in. She then got me lovely bathroom and downstairs toilet stuff , I’ve gone for a lovely white and green colour and then I got a lovely sideboard for my living room. My dad measured up all the rooms and said let’s go to piece up flooring to get an estimate of how much it’s going to be . My mum and dad asked me what I liked and I chose laminate flooring for my living room and thick grey carpets for all other rooms inc stairs . I said I can get one room done at a time as it was so expensive but guess what? My dad said pick what you want and he paid for me to have every single room floored and for lovely laminate flooring for my living room. He also paid for fitting and I’m getting the whole house done next Tuesday. We then went to b&m and I got some lovely bits inc an amazing twisty mop thing and bucket, more stuff for kitchen and a lovely lampshade for my bedroom. My mum yet again bought everything then we went to a huge Asda and got more home stuff and some slippers and all my cleaning stuff inc wash tablets etc. My mum insisted of getting everything in bulk so it will last longer . Again my mum and dad wouldn’t let me pay for anything so I got spoilt once again. We then got back at tea time and whilst my dad was building my bed me and my mum tried to sort out kitchen . I absolutely love everything they have got me and I’m so grateful. Tomorrow we are going to get blinds and cabinets for bathroom and for a big food shop. My mum and dad said all this will be for my Xmas present from them which was so lovely. I’m going for green and white bathroom and toilet , grey and navy blue bedroom and a grey and yellow living room . Oh I’m so so thrilled with it .
Me and my parents also had lots of hugs today and they seem so excited for me bless them.
I’ll add some pics but they don’t really do it justice and there’s still so much to do wishing will take time but I love it xx
I hope your all ok , sorry to hear your not feeling great @BeNavyCrab I hope you feel better soon.
Love you all xx

Wow it's so beautiful and modern looking, I know it's a new build but I wasn't expecting it to be so plush. Your parents are being amazing and it's just what you need at the moment. Crafting has been the saviour for my mental health. I never thought of myself as artistic, or more truthfully thought I'm rubbish. However I am finally able to say that I have got a lot better and don't say it anymore. My daughter won't let me say it, she'll tell me off if I do. 😂

Apolloneuro · 18/11/2024 19:15

@BeNavyCrab you have been in the wars. I’m so sorry to hear this. For me, I’m lucky that I was mid 50s when the pandemic started. I feel so sorry for young people with Long Covid.

I do ok and am better than I was a year ago. I’m lucky that I can afford to only work a few hours a week. Mainly I’m annoyed because I’ve lost my physical strength and have got fat.

I’ve gained things though. I look after myself and don’t feel guilty for doing things for myself. I also prioritise listening to audibles and relaxing.

You are a similar age to me then@Apolloneuro . I was 49 when COVID came along. You do get better at gauging what you can and can't do, when you have a long term health problem but I still have days where I am too stubborn for my own good and only realise that I have overdone it, after the fact.
Keeping weight from building up is something I really struggle with too.

BeNavyCrab · 19/11/2024 14:10

@AdmittowearingCrocs I was just glad that I didn't know what my son had said, before I was talking to his tutor. There's loads of funny stories I could tell you about our kids, where they have different perceptions or interactions with the world. It's part of the fun of having kids who are ND. It's only as they have become older that they are able to explain the way they think to me, that I've had a few lightbulb moments too. I'd never change them for the world and it's not totally negative bringing up kids with SEN. They have some amazing strengths too.

Apolloneuro · 19/11/2024 15:07

I used to teach in a Primary School. One day, the whole school had to endure I mean enjoy listening to the school orchestra.

At the back was a lovely boy with autism. During a quiet moment, he loudly said “They are AWFUL!”

”Yes.” everyone said to themselves “Yes they are.”

Hi @PeggyMitchellsCameo , I’ve already said hello but hi 😂
Cant believe change in the weather it’s so cold 🥶
So I’ve had another lovely but hectic day. Mum and dad have only just shortly gone home. I never thought I’d say this but I’m absolutely shopped out I don’t want to see a homeware shop or a supermarket for a few weeks 😂
We went to the range again today. My mum got me some lovely bits , a curtains like for my patio doors and some gorgeous curtains for them and then she got me some pictures , a long white mirror , mugs to match kitchen , diffuser , a lovely vase of artificial flowers and other bits and bobs then we went to Morrisons and they got me a food shop and then they bought me a lovely coat as ex burnt all mine so once again I’ve been spoilt rotten . We had a lovely microwave tea it was a curry but was lovely and now I feel shattered 😂
Washing machine is in and fridge /freezer. Freezer is completely full of chicken breasts, steaks, beef mince and 4/5 joints of meat from my dad’s butchers. I feel so incredibly lucky.
School still hasn’t got back to me , tired calling a few times today but nobody had looked at the email yet which is frustrating but will try again tomorrow. Washer man decided to christen my toilet with a stinky so I’ve just gave it a good clean and he left my bathroom window wide open so was freezing upstairs 😂xx

First night in house was lovely thank you , I’m really looking forward to spending a full day in it tomorrow and not having to venture out . I havnt met the neighbours yet as it’s been snowing here and very icy and I’ve been out most of day but I will definitely introduce myself soon.
Awww that’s so so sweet of you to send me something , thank you so very much. Your so lovely and kind.
I have emailed my MP and her secretary emailed me back and said they are pleased to hear I’ve now got a home which was lovely.
Going to have a day at home tomorrow sorting a few bits out, sorting my craft box out , doing some washing and I’m going to hoover and mop my kitchen and bathroom floors . I can’t wait xx

Hi @RaspberryBeretxx , how are you?I still absolutely love your name btw , it’s so classy and elegant . I have neighbours in my right I think the house is still empty on the left . But I havnt been at home for 2 days as been shopping so I’m looking forward to having a day at home tomorrow .
Awww I bet your daughter absolutely loved making a snowman , did you put a carrot in it for its nose?😂Thats so cute that she thinks it’s Christmas because if the snow. You will have to put the tree up now 😂
I hate driving in the snow I’m glad I can’t drive at the moment it really makes me nervous. 2 christmases ago I took my youngest to a football match in Sheffield and it’s very hilly there . I was on a hill at traffic lights my absolute worst nightmare and my foot slipped and car rolled back into car behind me . Took all insurance details etc and got back in car and I did it again! Rolled straight back into him! So now I have a huge fear of hills and traffic lights and driving in the snow xx
