To try and find some good teens books that don't push the LGBTQ agenda?

Trying to get some books for my daughter who is in S1, books are either too young or they all have a blurb that alludes to the main character's sexual preferences. Would love it if anyone could recommend something your pre-teens, or young teens are reading that don't include those topics? They already get enough information about it in school and the internet.

They don't want to be discriminated against
Or are you happy for them to be?

They want to break down the meaning and concept of family and social norms, I’ll give you that.

This is MN
Trans people and Ace people aren't real here

I really love Ace people though. They’re awesome.

No
They really don't

They just want to be accepted and treated fairly

Pippy2022 · 19/11/2024 22:22

Just stick with the classics: Secret Garden and all that stuff. Not that hard surely? I'd honestly find it hard to find books with LGTBQ+ in!

Trump's propaganda team were grinding out tens of millions of dollars of propaganda about the appalling threat trans girls present to 'the girls on the sports teams' for weeks before the US elections.

Except according to Newsweek, out of a population of 320 000 000 Americans, it's estimated that there are only about 100 or so transgender athletes in college sports, and that the number is estimated to be even smaller for school sports. "Save Women's Sports, an organization advocating for banning transgender athletes from competing in girls' sports, identified only five transgender athletes competing on girls' teams in school sports for grades K through 12." Out of 17.3 million high school pupils.

So not really an issue - at least not in a material sense, though obviously a huge issue in many mumsnetters heads.

What is an issue in the UK, if you want to talk about actual inequality in sports that actually affects large numbers of girls who play sports, is the vast over representation in elite sports, of athletes who went to fee paying schools. But again, this is mumsnet so we know where that conversation is going to go.

Of course being gay is not evil or perverted, and I never said that, but for example being transgender and talking about the struggles of being transgender including identity crisis, gender reassignment surgeries, medical and psychological treatments are hardships and too complex for my 11 year old to understand! Or are we going to deny this too for political correctness!? I mean we can agree to disagree, and obviously the people that feel they want their kids to have this knowledge at such young age can do as they please, but me wanting to hold off until she is more mature does not make me homophobic or evil either!

You didn't even say anything about transgender though in your OP, it was all about how you didn't want your DD reading about LGBT sexual preferences.

My daughter really enjoyed the Pony Club Secrets series. I don't think there is anything about relationships in there ... but there is quite a lot about ponies.

I could not give a single fuck about your piss poor justifications

MEN DO NOT BELONG IN WOMENS SPACES

Luckily transgender people don't rely on your belief to exist and live their lives on their own terms.

Mentally ill people with complex traumas they have been lead to blame on “being born in the wrong body” exist. Yes. I get it.

I'm talking about transwomen.

Who will continue use the spaces they feel safest and most appropriate to them as they always have done.

I find it bizarre that you think anyone's sexuality is influenced by books they read. It's the kind of thing homophobic people would say decades ago. I used to wonder if they were gay themselves.

Sexuality no - but transgender and other TQIA ideology have a definitely spread by social contagion

What an obvious way to say “I’m so easily lead I believe the world is flat”.

gender identity doesn’t exist. Just like the flying spaghetti monster doesn’t.
