To say she simply cannot be turning 40?!

I'm a big fan of Gemma Atkinson. Always had her down as a young mum. Yet i just read she is turning 40 tomorrow!!!

But maybe people have the wrong idea of what 40 looks like.

I'm 40. If I ever tell anyone they say "oh my God you look 30".

People seem to expect women at 40 to look like grey shrivelled up prunes for some reason. They don't. Lots of women look amazing well into their forties.

Exactly! I've never heard of her but on googling she looks like a (well-preserved) 40 year old.

How old are you to be thinking that 40 is old? Women still have babies at this age. -80- is old.

Sunscreen and a hat from babyhood! DD is 41 and looks 30. Has never baked in the sun.

Good genes, diet, skincare regime, non smoker or are combination of all of these perhaps?

I think of her as being very famous - listen to her every day on the radio going home from work, remember her in Hollyoaks and Emmerdale, all her lads mags stuff and Strictly, of course.

She's a couple of years younger than me I remember her from FHM etc. I never looked like her though! She's married with a family I don't see how it would be surprising.

Concept of age definitely changes depending on our own age.

It's because you have no concept of what it's like really until you get there.

I think women in their 40s - even early 40s, looked somewhat older some years ago than they do now. Many 40 y.o. I see now can pass for 28-30. (At first glance that is, they look more like mid 30s close up - most of them.) They rarely look more than mid 30s. Even at 42-43.

Inexplicably, Jean Alexander who played Hilda Ogden in Coronation Street was 38 when she started in Coronation Street. 2 years YOUNGER than Gemma Atkinson is now. She was 38 here. The difference in her and Gemma is phenomenal! 😆

Lets see what she looks like in 3 - 5 years. From life experience it seems many people can maintain a fairly youthful appearance until 40 and then it goes downhill rapidly thereafter😬.

Yeah we have a lot of better health care and better skin products now

She's not likely to be early twenties, as Gemma Atkinsons prime era was about ten years ago.
But OP is still shocked that Gemma is 40, so OP must be younger than 40.

Case in point. These 2 women (both holding a bottle,) are in their early 40s. This was the mid 1960s.

Googled to check, she could be anywhere between 35 and 45 judging by her looks:)
