What needs to be invented that hasn’t been yet?

We need car radio that we can pause. There was a quiz on the radio earlier and I waited ages for the answer but eventually had to go to a meeting. I wish I could pause it and start where I’d turned the engine off. Same as a rewind for when you start the car at the end of a song you love.

What else needs to be invented?

Teleporting would be the really good one

Maria1982 · 12/11/2024 22:07

Windscreen wipers for glasses!! Cycling in the rain is such a pain

A pill to take instead of having to put on sun cream

This. 200000x this

Vanislife · 12/11/2024 22:07

Yes to the suncream pill
I’ve also always wondered if someone could repurpose a spray tan booth to automatically dispense sun cream (probably the oil type) by the beach.
Or maybe this could be incorporated into the more specialist shower?!

Built in AirTag type technology in various products that are easy to lose

A way to fix eyesight easily without glasses or surgery.

Octavia64 · 12/11/2024 22:09

I did actually look to see if you could buy glasses with windscreen wipers and you sort if can but they don't really work.

I wear a baseball cap instead.

My contribution: a hover wheelchair.

Lisanoonan · 12/11/2024 22:09

A better way to fix bones and cure illnesses

HearMeSnore · 12/11/2024 22:09

Alcohol free wine that actually tases like wine.

And calorie free chocolate that actually tastes like chocolate.

LittleMissLateForWorkAgain · 12/11/2024 22:12

Forgot wine. Calorie free and hangover free but not alcohol free. By Friday I need a drink after Mon to Fri in a secondary school!

Cameroptera · 12/11/2024 22:12

A hair dryer in the roof of my car so that my hair can dry on the way to work, and a button you can press to make car doors stay open so that they don't swing shut when I'm trying to get out on a slope or in wind.

Lisanoonan · 12/11/2024 22:13

Oh I remembered one that I've often thought in the last!

They should invent more shapes and styles of beds!

Why are nearly all beds the same exact rectangular flat shape.

I've often thought that I'd like to sleep in a bed that is lower in the middle and higher at the sides. I feel that it would be much comfier, and better for my back.

I'd like to sleep in a bed that is built into a tiny room in the wall and you have wooden doors to go into it, and walls all around the bed (I saw that on santa clause the movie)

I'd like to sleep on a circular bed that's puffy and cushioned all around the sides.

I'd like to sleep in different types of beds!

OdileO · 12/11/2024 22:13

God, calorie free chocolate - that really is the dream.

Lisanoonan · 12/11/2024 22:14

And calorie free pizza

LittleMissLateForWorkAgain · 12/11/2024 22:14

An actual housework fairy the type that does the dishes and takes the rubbish out magically.

MorrisZapp · 12/11/2024 22:15

A teenage grunt translator.

Lisanoonan · 12/11/2024 22:15

Maybe a little remote control that let's you translate that someone else is saying, instantly.

One language for all of Europe to learn, so everyone can communicate.

While also keeping their own languages.

Edited

We have one. It's called Esperanto.

KnickerlessParsons · 12/11/2024 22:18

Lisanoonan · 12/11/2024 21:26

Yes. Better contraception for men

We have that too. There is a male pill. But would you trust a man to take it properly?

LittleMissLateForWorkAgain · 12/11/2024 22:18

Teeth that fall out every few years and new lovely white sparkly ones grow in.
The current set up is no good.
We used to be dead by 40 so wouldn't have needed teeth to last till our 90s.
It's different now (and bloody expensive when they go wrong).

Lisanoonan · 12/11/2024 22:18

KnickerlessParsons · 12/11/2024 22:17

We have one. It's called Esperanto.

No one knows it or uses it. So that didn't work.

Lisanoonan · 12/11/2024 22:19

More advanced VR headsets using AI so you can really go back and experience a moment in history.

Maybe that's what we in the future are doing right now.

Maybe we are in a virtual game reality right now!

KnickerlessParsons · 12/11/2024 22:19

A supermarket van that you can climb aboard and pick stuff up, that would be a daily visit.

We used to have these too, up to the early 70s at least.
We had a mobile shop come down our road a couple of times a week

LittleMissLateForWorkAgain · 12/11/2024 22:20

By the way this is a great thread!

Kago2790 · 12/11/2024 22:23

Vacuum cleaner that is not full of compromise. The stick ones are not robust enough, crap battery time length, always getting stuck, have to empty after each time (sometimes with hands - yes Shark),.

Revert to Henry, it is better in the above but it's bloody cumbersome and heavy. A real chore.

Robot ones, not tried but my house is full of obstacles.

The evolution has been disappointing.

We have one. It's called Esperanto.

We don't have one.

I said we need to have a language that everyone knows and uses across Europe, so we can all communicate with each other.

No one knows or uses Esperanto. No government in any country that I've been in in Europe has ever even promoted Esperanto once.
