What needs to be invented that hasn’t been yet?

We need car radio that we can pause. There was a quiz on the radio earlier and I waited ages for the answer but eventually had to go to a meeting. I wish I could pause it and start where I’d turned the engine off. Same as a rewind for when you start the car at the end of a song you love.

What else needs to be invented?

Wouldn’t it be better to ban cars from city centres?

I can't see that working though . How would someone visit their friend in the city. A lot of cities don't even have metros. And the buses are very sporadic .

@Lisanoonan As someone whose daughter has had months of trauma and hassles after her unlocked phone was snatched from her hand, do bear in mind that thieves target unlocked phones now, precisely so they can access all the things that people carry around in them.

Marmite and butter mixed together to save getting butter in the marmite jar and halving the number of containers.

Could call it "marter" or "butmite"

No one is going to eat Butmite.

TiramisuThief · 12/11/2024 21:55

A more efficient car windscreen visor than a bit of card on a hinge

I can't believe all the tech in cars these days & no one has invented anything better to stop the sun getting in your eyes

Lisanoonan · 12/11/2024 21:55

Houses that are not all square in design.

We could have more circular houses.

Different shapes. More variety.

Paint brush with a flat end you can use to open the paint tin with.

Cinema tickets as scannable stickers so you don't need to faff with them while holding refreshments.

Edited

I have definitely owned a paintbrush like this.

A one-touch extendable mattress, so that when I go to bed and DH is yet again starfished across the middle, I can still lie down.

rach2713 · 12/11/2024 21:59

a microwave that can cool down food once its been cooked!

This thread isnt that serious to start with. It is asking for potential inventions.

If these days, we can have bank cards on our phone, we can have a house code on our phone, in my opinion..

Also, in the event if we ever did have a house code feature on our phone, it would of course be optional anyway.
Some people would like the choice. No one would be forced to have it.

What kind of trauma did she have?

My phone was stolen two months ago, and absolutely nothing happened to me as my virtual bank card was password protected on my phone. They couldn't access anything

No one is going to eat Butmite.

Butmites are the reason people hover over public toilets instead of sitting...

Lisanoonan · 12/11/2024 22:01

My friend showed me a cool new app the other day. He scans a food label with his phone, and the app tells him how much poison is in the food.

oneeggisunoeuf · 12/11/2024 22:03

@Lisanoonan £15k stolen, identity stolen and credit score wrecked, locked out of her email, countless loan and credit card applications in her name. It took months to sort it all out (thankfully she was reimbursed the money). It's been a nightmare.

Valkyrie3 · 12/11/2024 22:03

What we really need is some kind of device for locating lost things.

Ah I'm genuinely sorry to hear that.

That's great that she got the money back

I already eat homemade Butmite.

Cars that park sideways if you need to. Just slot themselves into the space. Would save the faff of reverse parking when there's an impatient idiot behind trying to get past.

Also cars....a LOST sign that lights up on the back window you press on dashboard..so people know why someone is crawling aAn long at 15mph.

An app that let's you talk and be understood by your pets.

So you can tell the cats not to be out after a certain time or that you ll be back soon and are not abandoning them to loneliness and starvation.

Chocolate/pizza/chips with no calories. In fact eating them puts you into calorie deficit.

In the 90s my parents had glasses that were called reactolight (or something similar) which sort of turned to sunglasses when it was sunny and I've often wondered why a similar effect couldn't be used on car windscreens (from a short arse, for who the sun visor is largely useless!)

Also why hasn't someone created calorie free cake or chocolate.

And I'm here for the butter/marmite combo!

catsnore · 12/11/2024 22:04

A 'beam me up Scotty' device which moves a sleeping baby from the car seat/sling/pram/lap/shoulder and lifts them gently into their cot in the exact same position without waking them.

Ooh that last one is a good one.

A VR headset that let's you taste all the good foods, without putting any weight on

Underboob deodorant that works! Also sweat wicking bras for the same issue (sweaty damp under boob).

Picklewicklepickle · 12/11/2024 22:06

Nose tampons.

I suffer dreadfully with my sinuses and the constant drippy nose I get every time I get a cold drives me up the wall. Rolled up tissues don’t do the job.

Something to naturally shrink your breasts.

My breasts are massive, heavy, and painful to carry round all the time

😂 I started whipping marmite up with butter years ago and thought I was a culinary genius.
