What needs to be invented that hasn’t been yet?

We need car radio that we can pause. There was a quiz on the radio earlier and I waited ages for the answer but eventually had to go to a meeting. I wish I could pause it and start where I’d turned the engine off. Same as a rewind for when you start the car at the end of a song you love.

What else needs to be invented?

A train that you drive onto in your car and just sit in your car on it/or walk about the train/whatever and drive off at your stop. Just like an actual train but like a drive on thing.
Would cut congestion/traffic jams and travel/driving time!

Like the channel tunnel?

oneeggisunoeuf · 13/11/2024 09:59

@ScottBakula My daughter was working on the somewhat problem beset Coop Live building earlier this year, and that had facial recognition/retina entry which failed with depressing regularity!

oneeggisunoeuf · 13/11/2024 10:00

@MarketValveForks I clicked on it - wtf?!!

I think this was Esperanto... don't think it ever really took off though.

A bracket on the wall to hang up your hairdryer so you have both hands free (to style your hair or out on make-up or play on your phone or whatever).

you can still get them.

Here

An invention that tells posters who haven’t read the thread if someone had already made the same post on the thread so they don’t need to. (Esperanto!)

Lycopene in tomatoes stops you burning in the sun. I am a red head with pale skin, I eat tomato paste for two weeks before going on vacation. I never burn

You don’t have to burn to get skin cancer. Please take care.

I know it doesn’t work for everyone but I don’t have periods on the mirena coil. Got it at 22 and it honestly changed my life. I have only had two breaks from it to have DC.

Yep doesn't work for me sadly. Still doubled over with cramps every month and bleed - although the bleeding is much lighter.

I would like to choose my hair cut and colour and for it to stay exactly the same for however long I would like.

I find the hairdresser a total waste of time and money and resent every minute I have to sit there. Sadly I also like looking tidy and not grey so it's a necessity!

A machine I walk into after showering and come out of 5 mins later with a perfect blow dry, dressed in a great outfit and perfectly made up. I have been fantasising about it since my 20s. A much more sophisticated and comprehensive version of the make up gun that Homer shoots in Marge's face in the Simpsons.

A shower that dries you too. So towels no longer needed.

Yes why does the hair in our head constantly grow and need to be cut?

The hair on our legs stops at a certain length.

Soupwithstring · 13/11/2024 11:36

@Lisanoonan precisely!

A switch for growing hair or not growing hair.

Are you aware how phones work.

They wouldn't be able to get into the app because it would be password protected....OBVIOUSLY!

I have my bank card in my Google wallet on my phone.

If I lose my phone, no one can access my bank card on the phone.....as it is password protected.

Edited

Mine is fingerprint protected. And even if someone did get I to my phone they would also need a fingerprint to use the bank card.

Oreosareawful · 13/11/2024 11:37

A teleporter would be a game changer, no more morning commute, no traffic, less pollution, less RTA's
Gah- we're out of milk, Ill just pop to tesco 'ping' - back within seconds with the milk.
Think of how much time we could save, how many hours are wasted travelling?

and one of those medical pods that was in the film Elysium. You just hop in, lie back and it fixes you. No more cancer, no more debilitating conditions. No painful surgery or recoveries. Childbirth would be over in seconds with no pain.

It's actually so nice to imagine how much better life could be

A more efficient car windscreen visor than a bit of card on a hinge

I can't believe all the tech in cars these days & no one has invented anything better to stop the sun getting in your eyes

Yes those sun visors are useless if you are on the short side.

TangerinePlate · 13/11/2024 11:42

Read this one on MN years ago but not my invention.

Hoover for body discharge. When your period starts just use it and hoover your uterus so no more pads and dirty underwear.

I’d also use it for my poo withholding child. Stick the hoover up the bum and suck it all out. Again no mess,no smell.

Bag it up (preferably something similar to toilet paper) and flush.

Lisanoonan · 13/11/2024 11:46

A medication to make your period come out in one day, not 5-6 days

No they certainly do not. It's so weird that some English speakers think this.

How many European countries have you been to?

I've been to thirty.

Loads of them do not speak English at all.

I didn't say all of them spoke English (and indeed, nor should they). Just that English is often a common language across European countries, partly because it is the most commonly used language on the internet, and therefore many Europeans learn it at school. I work for a multi-national corporation, with offices in Germany, Spain, France, the Netherlands and the Nordics. The majority of our meetings are held in English, as that is the one language that all the differing staff members across several countries speak as a second language. (And most of them speak it far better than a lot of English people!)

Yes I agree that English is used in businesses througjout Europe. The peolle who apply for those kind of roles in Germany , Spain and France need to be able to speak English, as it is a good language for Business.

But there is still no language that everyone in Europe can understand. A lot of people can't even communicate with each other.

It's a bit strange in this day and age. That so many people in Europe can't even communicate with each other at all.

I don't think we should force an existing language, English, on people, as they wouldnt like that.

Europe should come up with a new language and get everyone to learn it from a young age. They came up with the concept with Espranto, but then they didn't do much with it.
