Queen Camilla taking part in a documentary to highlight abuse of women

Apoplectic that ITV have chosen Queen Camilla to host a documentary highlighting the domestic abuse of women when she was King Charle's OW for many years and complicit in his abuse of Princess Diana.

World gone mad!

Occasionally a poster pops up who's like a terrier with a rat about an issue and then cries that she is being bullied after she pokes and prods and pokes and prods and attention seeks like a small child.

Swear words are allowed on MN though.

Did you actually watch the programme? What did you think of the work of the women's refuges? What did you think of the interviews with Theresa May and Cherie Blair and Jess Phillips and about the speech Rosie Duffield gave in the Commons about her own experiences? What do you think of the behaviour of the two men who actually did follow through and commit suicide after threatening their partners with that?

Don't you think these are more important issues than who was shagging who in the 90s?

Livingtothefull · 12/11/2024 19:40

5128gap · 12/11/2024 19:34

Only 30% of the women referred to refuges can be accomodated.
£180 million a year is needed to meet survivors basic needs.
Given I thought the thread would focus a bit more on the documentary than it has, I'll just leave that there for those who missed it and might be looking for a good cause to donate to.

Well maybe if the royals stopped helping themselves to huge amounts of money tax free - including taking from charities ie from donations made by members of the public on their taxed income - there would be more money for refuges and survivors' needs.

I'm afraid I take everything any of the royals say about social issues with a big pinch of salt.

WestwardHo1 · 12/11/2024 19:21

Honestly @Sylviacrystal you sound completely unhinged 😥

I have a good friend who suffered hugely from DV - in fact her exH was imprisoned for what he did to her. She has since become a bit of a champion in her own right for women who have suffered, and has met Camilla in this capacity. She was very impressed with her.

And quite frankly, I'm more prepared to trust her judgement than yours.

Isn't it strange how you wrote that your friend went through domestic abuse, and that was terrible for her. And your poor friend.

And then you just sit there and write vicious nasty insults at me,.the worst one, the one that you swore at me in, has justbeen deleted by mumsnet

How does that make sense?

It's really weird how some women write "oh my friend was abused by her terrible partner"

then sit on here and write nasty insults with swearwords to women on here.

They don't like when other people do the abusing

But they think that it's totally fine for them to be abusive to others themselves

Sylviacrystal · 12/11/2024 19:26

unhinged is the buzz bully word in mumsnet. It's so utterly predictable

There were people on both sides yesterday

Where did the big gang of camilla lovers come from all of a sudden.

Where did all the people come from who confidently seem to have first hand personal knowledge of the royal marriages and what goes on behind closed doors? 🤷🏻‍♀️

EdithWeston · 12/11/2024 19:39

I'm disappointed that the thread has not been talking more about those aspects too.

Yes it’s a shame that one poster in particular has caused all this disruption when we should have been focusing on the cause, I won’t engage with them further as it is actually quite upsetting that something so important has been completely derailed by someone’s personal hatred of an individual.

Rubyupbeat · 12/11/2024 19:43

Camillas husband was not a nice man at all, she may have received abuse from him?

Yeah they are totally the same.

Can you answer my questions above?

How come you didn't like when your friend was abused.

But you think it's okay for you to abuse others?

Interesting.....

XxSideshowAuntSallyx · 12/11/2024 19:45

@WestwardHo1 I cried at her speech. I also think the work of the police woman is brilliant, the fact that so many women in the police are going through it was shocking but not surprising.

The men who committed suicide were manipulative to the end. I only hope those women don't feel guilt but they probably do.

She was incredible wasn't she? So strong and obviously extremely nervous. And the way she was supported and comforted by the women around her was very moving too.

Timelines are all wrong for it to be that.

This programme has been months in the making and its broadcast date has been known for weeks.

Well before the C4 programme - that didn't really do anything other than repackage information that's already in the public domain (but was probably new to younger viewers).

The Dispatches programme would also have been known about for months beforehand, I don't think the broadcast date is an accident.

The info may well have been technically in the public domain (can't comment on that) but what the programme did was clarify to the public several facts about their income which hitherto were obscure whether by accident or design.

You were deleted too.

So leaving that behind - what did you think of the actual programme. It's pretty clear you wish C hadn't been involved at all. So leave those parts to one side. What did you think about the rest?

One poster! This is laughable.

At least twenty posters on here have said that camilla is horrible , nasty and hypocritical

It's not irrelevant. The monarchy are only there as long as people want them there.

I agree.

I feel they do charity work when it suits them.

But then as you say, the royal family takes huge amounts of money.

I just want to state that I think some of the comments about Diana on here are utterly ghastly. Whatever mistakes she may have made.....she has been dead for nearly 30 years. Can't her memory be left in peace?

😂 let’s apply to canonise her.

Talking about things that happened doesn’t stop people ‘resting in peace’ whatever that means. Any group discussion about Diana is guaranteed to include James Hewitt, Will Carling & Hasnat Khan to name but a few. It’s the same as discussing scandals attached to any celebrity - alive or dead.

She’s as much a queen as consorts before her were, and just as much as Kate will be.

I’m not a monarchist, but I think she does a bloody good job.

Bless. You didn't even understand what i wrote. And then you said that i struggle with comprehension.

You wrote that I was obsessed with camilla .

I wrote "how can you say that someone else(meaning me) is obsessed with camilla, when you are here also posting about Camilla."

I'll write it in much simpler English for you.

How can you say that I'm obsessed with Camilla, when here you are posting multiple posts about Camilla yourself.

Doesn't really make sense does it..
