Apoplectic that ITV have chosen Queen Camilla to host a documentary highlighting the domestic abuse of women when she was King Charle's OW for many years and complicit in his abuse of Princess Diana.

World gone mad!

This thread really indicates to me how simple and binary so many people have become.

Person does bad thing = person is irredeemably bad forever and it cancels out all good things they ever do from then on.

I vehemently disagree with someone about x = I therefore need to publicly say so and never agree on anything they subsequently say in the future.

It's actually quite frightening.

Sylviacrystal · 12/11/2024 17:24

Of course it was an abusive relationship.

Look up the definition of abuse.

Lying and gaslighting to someone is abuse.

Paul Burrell, Diana's butler, wrote that Prince Charles told the butler to lie to Diana about Camilla coming over to Charles house.

It's manipulation and abuse.

Do you agree that Diana was also abusive given her affairs with married men and the harassment of at least one of the wives ?

Camilla is a bit manky.

I saw her talk the other day, and I thought that she was very rough.

Eurgh. You are vile.

It is worrying isn’t it, also Camilla is the punch bag on here for women who have been cheated on, they feel powerless and are projecting it all onto Camilla (yet Diana and her many affairs with married men plus the stalking, anonymous phone calls etc.) gets a free pass, some of the posts on here are unhinged, it’s really not normal.

XxSideshowAuntSallyx · 12/11/2024 18:13

I thought it was the most inspiring and humbling programme. I cried through most of it.

As a survivor of domestic abuse myself, what Queen Camilla is doing is bloody amazing. We shouldn't feel shame but we do. I have a new found respect for Cherie Blair and Theresa May too.

I thought she came across as a lovely warm woman, and she's using her position to highlight something that so many people are ashamed to talk about. I thought her idea of the wash bag for rape victims was very thoughtful as well.

EdithWeston · 12/11/2024 18:28

Ukisgaslit · 12/11/2024 11:52

It’s not complicated @EdithWeston
Im saying that Camilla had an image problem , her image being someone who hurt Diana and was the other woman in a marriage .
A PR professional looks to where you are weak - when picking a charity that was borne in mind .
She started working with the charity in her 60s

We can draw our own conclusions .

I don’t believe the royals do anything out of the goodness of their hearts - they wouldn’t be billionaires off the backs of the people if they did .

I think your conclusions are erroneous

Mainly because the rehabilitation period was from the War of the Waleses until the marriage. There was no need for it after 2005.

WestwardHo1 · 12/11/2024 18:36

And also, what more does she bloody need to do to try and "rehabilitate her image". She is using her position to try and help some of the most vulnerable in society and she has been doing so for 12 years.

If you listened to her, you would have heard that her concern appears to be very real, and she understands the issues pretty well. She has learned of the issues through asking questions and listening carefully to the answers.

And @XxSideshowAuntSallyx I agree with you about Cherie Blair and Theresa May, two more women who face derision and scorn. "Oh Cherie is married to Tony Bliar - war criminal, multi millionaire blah blah" and "Oh Theresa May - TORY SCUM" etc etc. It's so pathetic.

Allswellthatendswelll · 12/11/2024 18:42

Have not read it all because it is a batshit thread.

However by the slightly warped logic- Camilla was cheated on for years by Andrew Parker Bowles before she and Charles started sleeping together (post his marriage- obviously as they were in a relationship in the early 70s). Does this make her also an abuse victim (er no but according to OP yes)?

I listened to such a moving interview on woman's hour where she had become life long friends with a woman who had to look after her grandchildren after her daughter was murdered by her partner. Camilla had been a huge support and campaigned a lot of the back of this relationship.

I've always liked her though. Tina Brown is great (and fair minded) on Diana/Charles/Camilla/Andrew in Diana Chronicles.

In your opinion. In my opinion, I do.

I've never had an affair with a married man for a start.

No. You're just making things up.

I have never once been cheated on. I have also never once had an affair with a married man.

Because I have morals.

I find these posts really strange. You don't know her, right? I mean, I expect you don't know any of the RF personally. Forgive me if I'm wrong, I know this is MN and you could be lifelong mates. However, most people don't know them. Therefore we can only judge them by the actions we can see. I'm really depressed by the actions of the RF. Sure, they say the right things but really, when it comes to it their personal conduct (avarice, adultery ....) leaves much to be desired. I mean, he's the Head of the Church of England FFS....

SundayBloodySunday · 12/11/2024 19:11

Oh and before anyone comes at me with Henry v111, yes I know....but there's meant to be an aspect of living a virtuous life. They certainly want us to think that.

Sylviacrystal · 12/11/2024 19:11

Camilla is grim and rough . Charles is not a good example of a man in any shape or form.

Diana was also wrong to have the affair with Will carling.

It's a pity we don't have a better Royal family.

No you don’t, if you have morals you wouldn’t speak about another human being the way you have on here, your reaction is completely abnormal, get help.

I don't think anyone can come at you with Henry VII as an example of what should be, sewing as he killed some of his wives.

Youre weird!

Have you missed that about forty other people on here - are also saying the same things that I've said about Camilla?

Would you like me to show you all of their many posts saying that Camilla is horrible and hypocritical?

So no , I'm actually writing what a lot of other people are writing on here. You're the one being weird.

GiveusatwirlAnthea · 12/11/2024 19:14

Seriously get help.

XxSideshowAuntSallyx · 12/11/2024 19:16

Another thing Camilla supports is the osteoporosis society because she knows what it's like as her own mother died from it. Anyone that has met her have said she's a really nice woman(and I know someone who has).

All those going on about what she did 30 years ago need to move on and go and find something to make their lives more fulfilling. Maybe go and volunteer in a woman's refuge or a domestic abuse charity. Maybe go and sit and listen to a domestic abuse survivor. But I doubt you will because in your glass houses your lives are perfect.

Yes that's what I'm doing. You and I are essentially saying the same thing.

What I'm seeing is a woman who's not perfect, as many of us are not, but at the moment with this work she is doing now, is doing a good thing. That's all I am saying. I am judging how she comes across now, not by "but...but...poor Diana".

People are complicated. They do good things and bad things. Most adults understand this - well, they used to at least. Some people on this thread honestly sound like 8 year olds.

FWIW, while QEII seemed genuinely devout, I don't actually think Charles much wants to be Head of the CofE.

I should get help about Camilla. Lol that's hilarious.

I see you again ignored the fact - that loads of other people have written on this thread, that camilla is horrible

Why are you ignoring what all of those other posters are saying?
