It's good news for women, now that we will have the definition and safeguarding back.

World war was on the cards regardless, it's bad news for Europe as Putin will push pass Ukraine.

Good news for women yes tell that to the dead now in texas because of abortion law

Very demure, very mindful.

It's democracy, stupid. Be thankful it still works.

Very divided for sure so would hate speech help? Time for unity

No, the need to abort means so much to some, that the suggestion is, if that's the number one priority in your life, then the sensible thing to do is move states.

That’s only an option for affluent women. Poor women don’t have that option.

Help what? There was a democratic election and a candidate you don't like won.

That is all.

What are YOU going to do? Because you're the one stirring up hate and division online.

SweetBobby · 06/11/2024 09:09

YankTank · 06/11/2024 09:05

Not really. If you have a miscarriage in 1/3 of the US, doctors won’t touch you with a 10-foot pole. They send you home to bleed out, and are only legally allowed to treat you once you’re on death’s door. Women have been dying from sepsis due to miscarriages gone wrong—another woman died just last week.

Nothing has changed. Donald trump does not make the abortion laws. Each state decides for themselves.

dottiehens · 06/11/2024 09:02

And is that different now?

Might get stricter.

Frowningprovidence · 06/11/2024 09:10

SweetBobby · 06/11/2024 08:51

What an utterly bizarre thing to say.

When I miscarried in the uk I was very poorly and was admitted to hospital for a few days. I would seriously consider avoiding states where doctors are scared of treating patients in thus scenario as pregnancy is always risky and its just a holiday.

Nomore45 · 06/11/2024 09:10

There’s absolutely no way I will be visiting the US during his term. I will not spend my tourist dollars there. I will actively make choices to holiday in countries that align with my core values.

That’s fine. That isn’t what the poster I was replying to said though so not sure why you’re replying with something different. The pp would urge EVERY female non-Trump voter to leave America, particularly if in their fertile years.

There are laws being enacted to stop pregnant women travelling outside their home state to seek abortion. So people would have to make the move before becoming pregnant. I don’t think it’s down to abortion being the number one priority in life though. It’s not unreasonable not to want to live in a state that sees you not as a woman, but as a walking incubator, with no rights or control over your own body, your wellbeing secondary to that of your unborn child, subject to imprisonment if you can’t prove you’ve miscarried and at risk of substandard medical treatment because your doctor could be jailed for treating you properly. Misogyny doesn’t even begin to cover it.

My Muslim friend cancelled plans to take her kids to Disney after he got elected last time. She couldnt bear the thought of going through immigration. 😞

Fascist? Heard it all now

Surprised you're hearing this for the first time. It's the term that Trump's former Chief of Staff and other former aides have used to describe him.

IVFmumoftwo · 06/11/2024 09:13

Who has abortions to their hearts content anyway? Idiot.

This type of shit won him the elections. They overkilled the changes but spouting this.

Do you really look into the politicians of every country you visit? If you didn't listen to the news you wouldn't be thinking like this. The other politicians are no angels.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 06/11/2024 09:17

Djanwb · 06/11/2024 08:38

How is trump a fascist? I see him as a populist.

Listen to his former Chief of Staff and others who have worked closely with him. These are not left wing commentators with an agenda to topple the Republicans. They are people on the right who previously supported him and then realised what he actually was after working with him.

They have all said that he is not fit for public office. The American people have chosen to ignore the warnings. History will be the judge.

Rosscameasdoody · 06/11/2024 09:17

dottiehens · 06/11/2024 09:02

And is that different now?

Don’t understand your question. The poster thought it was bizarre that someone wouldn’t want to travel to the US if they were pregnant. I was explaining why. It has nothing to do with Trump being elected, if that’s what you mean, but that wasn’t the question. Republican states in the US are definitely not the ideal place to be if you’re pregnant, whatever the government colours of the day.

KoalaCalledKevin · 06/11/2024 09:18

I guess there's two separate issues.

One being safety which OP has mentioned - I don't think this has changed from last week when she was happy to go. I wouldn't go to certain states if I was pregnant, but that would have applied last week as well.

The other is what other posters have mentioned around just not wanting to spend money in a country like that. Like boycotting particular shop/brand because you disagree with something they've done - it won't make any difference overall, but it's your money and you can spend it how you like. I don't think unreasonableness really comes into it.

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 06/11/2024 09:18

IVFmumoftwo · 06/11/2024 09:13

Quite. This is the whole nub of the abortion issue. These patriarchal fucks see women as venal, amoral children who would indeed go around gaily aborting late-term foetuses without a second thought if they weren't trammelled by draconian laws.

YankTank · 06/11/2024 09:21

SweetBobby · 06/11/2024 09:09

Nothing has changed. Donald trump does not make the abortion laws. Each state decides for themselves.

But how did we get here? Do you know what prompted the federal right of all American women to be overturned, and handed back to the states? Do you know who has been bragging on TV interviews about overturning Roe?

QuintessentialDragon · 06/11/2024 09:21

I'm going to Krakow for Christmas, Venice in Feb for the carnival and then US in summer, to spend my 'tourist euros/dollars' there.

Anyone's interested in my travel plans? No?

Go. Don't go. Who gives a fuck what you do. Not the Americans, I'm sure.

marshmallowmix · 06/11/2024 09:21

He won’t notice if you visit or not …think you are being totally unreasonable !
