To be so disappointed in people - Trump voters especially

1000 replies

notsorighteousthesedays · 06/11/2024 06:43

I feel absolutely stunned that despite all that has been said and done Trump is likely to get the chance to make the world burn a little faster.

I am afraid for a future so full of anger and hate.

What is going to happen to Ukraine now?!

His links to Russia and North Korea are terrifying.

Womens rights eroded.

Yet the first person I spoke to today was elated by this news.

Hell is other people!

Prescottdanni123 · 06/11/2024 08:03

@ChaosHol1

Having Putin's racist, homophobic, misogynistic bestie in charge of the US bodes hell for us all. Unless there is some silver lining here that British people don't realize because we don't live there. If this is the case, please explain to me what it is?

skippy67 · 06/11/2024 08:03

Sdpbody · 06/11/2024 07:43

We would have voted Trump in our household.

We also voted conservative here.

It has becoming increasingly apparent that you are demonised for having any different view other than the left is best.

People are allowed to vote in their best interests.

Oh please. If you would vote for a convicted rapist , you deserve to be "demonised".

Butchyrestingface · 06/11/2024 08:03

I don't know who out of the Democratic Party they could have selected to run against him that wasn't better qualified for the job

Someone with XY chromosomes for a start. Ideally no dementia, although it worked for Reagan,

America would rather have a tangerine rapist convicted criminal than a woman - white, black, whatever. So don’t take the risk by running one.

CatalinaLoo · 06/11/2024 08:04

orangegato · 06/11/2024 07:49

There is the problem. None of you can conceive of the fact that educated people might DISAGREE with you.

You believe people have to be stupid to not buy into creepy Kamala.

The patronising left as usual - hence the shock. Adorable.

Are you racist @orangegato ? If not, why are you supporting a proven racist?

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 06/11/2024 08:03

I knew it. Been down the road of false hope too many times. I'm over being disappointed about it. Let's see what happens. It's my 50th birthday today too, a Harris win would have lifted my spirits but not to be. A guess a shopping spree might help😎

Happy birthday!

romatheroamer · 06/11/2024 08:04

Livelovebehappy · 06/11/2024 08:00

I don’t think the UK as a whole think that. But MN definitely do. MN is not representative of the majority of people in real life fortunately, otherwise things like Brexit would have never happened. MN are in an echo chamber so obviously were pretty confident Harris would win. And are now shocked that she hasn’t….

Not sure about that. If you read the different threads, there's a pretty wide range of views on MN this morning!

Whatafustercluck · 06/11/2024 08:05

People can say "well, it's democracy, people can vote for who they want", and "this is what happens when the left shut down debate" ad infinitum. And they will. But when all is said and done, millions and millions of people have voted for a man accused of rape, accused of vile criminality and open and obvious hatred of homosexuals, people of colour, disabled people, a man who wants to strip women of their rights over their own bodies, a man who does not really see women as people at all. And voting for that kind of man to lead the most powerful nation on earth, who will make the world even more unstable and unsafe in every conceivable way, is unforgivable.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 06/11/2024 08:05

I notice yet again nobody ask why?

It's always "they are stupid"

Well they can't all be stupid so why????

Mark my words. If the Tory's don't get a decent leader with good ideas and leadership we will have farage

next parliament. People are already fed up with Labour.

Why is this?

silentwallflower · 06/11/2024 08:05

Noname99 · 06/11/2024 07:56

Exactly
I think people are deluded if they don’t realise that this is happening all over the world and there isn’t a real risk that it could happen here. Labour barely won - low turn out and lowest proportion of the vote - they were just lucky / tactically clever to get the ‘right’ votes to get the ‘majority’ they did but it was a much narrower ‘victory’ and the world is swinging right.

Sanctimonious left wing eye rollers who look down and pour vitriol on the ‘working class’ or equivalent unless they fit an EDI group. They have no idea what it’s like to live in an area where there are no jobs, send your child to a school that are overwhelmed with social issues and live somewhere opportunities are scarce. And where entire neighborhoods have become areas where an immigrant population is the majority and often have an entirely different culture and language and have no interest in integrating with the British culture. And if people actually living there raise any concerns in any way, they are screamed down as racist thickos by people who live no where near the areas effected. The reaction to riots was appalling ….. people howling for 12 year olds to be imprisoned for throwing stones ffs and mass jailing of people for ‘crimes’ that would usually barely get a mention.
This will happen here too. Farage is coming and it will be the left and their utter refusal to listen and superior arrogance that will cause it.

You do know plenty of people fighting in trade unions and on the streets you talk about are WHITE WORKING CLASS. Many of those who are fighting for the working class have long left the Labour party.

They have no idea what it’s like to live in an area where there are no jobs, send your child to a school that are overwhelmed with social issues and live somewhere opportunities are scarce.

And Reform leaders do? And Ex City trader, public school educate Farage is the man of the people ...for fucks sake. They see the white working class as useful tools to whip up populist ideas , but they don't give two fucks about them.

Tommy Robinson has more credibility actually coming from the working class but still uses populist bollocks to delude the working class that immigrants on boats are the problem, nothing about the rich who pay no tax and sit back in real power while Farage and Robinson ensure they divide and rule- woke vs anti-woke and other meaningless bollocks

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 06/11/2024 08:03

Yes, and Brexit's been such a stunning success, hasn't it.

Whether it’s been a success or not, my point was that MN is not representative of the general consensus outside of this forum, but then have the arrogance to be shocked when real life opinion goes against what has been parroted on these boards.

Michelle Obama, if she only would be willing.

And Harris is awful. Have you listened to her speak?

In no way was she qualified to lead.

Totally agree with this.

As much as I was willing KH on personally, she wasn’t the right candidate.

She failed the first round of the Democratic candidate selection process and only became VP bc she was a friend of Joe Biden’s Totally son. She didn’t have sufficient support within the Democratic Party itself.

And if you are going to have a female president of colour in the USA, she has to
be a communicator of Michelle Obama quality.

Apparently Starmer and Trump have had lunch and it went well.

Yeah. As Starmer was the Director of Public Prosecutions and Head of the Crown Prosecution Service he is used to interacting with the likes of Trump.

sharpclawedkitten · 06/11/2024 08:06

SpunkyKoala · 06/11/2024 06:49

Well there was always a 50/50 chance trump would win from the outset and a white male v black female in a nation that is still widely and openly racist sexist and misogynistic in large swathes of the country it’s was always odds on for the white male - the US is a completely different beast to the UK there’s little in the way of ‘moderate views’ and they are fervent in their core beliefs.

Yes. No chance for a woman, and even less chance for a non-white woman.

Even women in the US are turkeys voting for Christmas/er...Thanksgiving.

It is very sad.

Babadookinthewardrobe · 06/11/2024 08:03

😂 Indeed, how quickly people forget!

Yes it's vaginas they hate.

MyKookyUmberTraybake · 06/11/2024 08:07

I think it's dangerous to assume people are stupid or an -ist based on how they vote and disregard their political opinion because of it.

I di think like that a few years ago and was gutted with the Brexit result and when Trump was first voted in but i've adjusted my attitude.

localnotail · 06/11/2024 08:07

This is so polarizing, reminds me a lot about "sore losers" thrown out after Brexit. Where people voted for the ideology and not for actual political and economic consequences and were childishly delighted to win over "the other side".

US always strikes me as a very simplistic in its approach to things, and this is just a confirmation of it. Trump, like all conspiracists, offers simple explanations and simple solutions to someone who is unable to understand the world, and makes them feel clever and superior by accessing this sacred "knowledge" - and makes them feel like belonging, like they are important, etc.

There are, also, people who voted for him who absolutely share his view - people who hold the 19 century ideas about economy, females, races and society. There are a lot of them everywhere, but especially in the US.

Also, what makes me smile - people referring here to "the lefties" in the US. There are no left parties in the US, their left politically about level with our Tories. Gives you an idea about the "right", hahaha.

Re: trans - very surprising no one seem to mention the ideology blossoms in conservative countries, too (like Australia). It seem to have nothing to do with political views.

Outandinbout · 06/11/2024 08:07

SpudleyLass · 06/11/2024 06:47

Democrats need to field better candidates.

And stop insulting the electorate

This is 2016 all over again - they just refused to listen to what people were telling them.

Absolutely this.

Livelovebehappy · 06/11/2024 08:07

romatheroamer · 06/11/2024 08:04

Not sure about that. If you read the different threads, there's a pretty wide range of views on MN this morning!

Come on, the majority of opinion on Trump is absolutely negative on all MN posts today…

AliceBunny · 06/11/2024 08:08

It is important to remember that the majority view is not always the right one. This is one such case.

GeorgeMichaelsCat · 06/11/2024 08:08

His win was on the cards. Why anyone is surprised is beyond me.

@orangegato which ‘weird lies’ did Kamala Harris tell? I’d really like to know
